At A-1 all of our technicians are certified with the Chimney Safety Institute of America, and we are fully bonded and insured. Description of Work: I have ordered several "Angies List" specials and there is always one thing in common, the company wants to sell you more than the deal you ordered. A-1 Chimney continued this trend. Our $79 chimney sweep turned into a several hundred dollar sweep because A-1 convinced us we needed a special cleaning or the whole chimney would catch on fire. As such, is this an indictment of A-1 or is it an indictment of Angies list "Specials"? Either way, we bought the extra service and were very pleased with A-1 on all other accounts. We would use them again. As for Angies List email special....I'm not so sure.

Description of Work: They said chimney wasn't safe for use and needed over $3,000 worth of work. Got a second opinion from Ye Old Chimney Sweep and they said fireplace was great. These people are using scare tactics and scams! Won't ever use again!

In response to the grade we were given and the comments made: Our field technicians are nationally certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America. Our inspections of appliances & their respective chimneys derive from the NFPA 211, which, as certified, qualified persons we are required to follow when performing any level of inspection. Without a standard, whatever may be written or said is merely an opinion. We always, in every instance request that at least one homeowner be present during the appointment so that should something be found in unsatisfactory condition it can be explained in detail, in person, on site. We were given a code to a lock box; no one was on site to receive the completed report. Our technician was told to "Just leave it". There was no opportunity given to us to explain what, exactly is making your appliance unfit for service, and how to correct the issue(s). Scare tactics,.... We most assuredly do not employ scare tactics to conjure up business. We follow a set of standards that detail every facet of your appliance & chimney. Any defect we discover, especially having to do with a fireplace is met with a strong sense of alarm as, it may have the potential to wreak disastrous results. For the homeowner and the company that may have overlooked it. In this regard, we unapologetic. In closing, There is no shortage of non qualified persons playing the part of true professionals. This can be said for every trade, every business. We also understand that the blanket F that was given to our company was based in irritation & miscommunication. We would cherish an opportunity to , at a minimum, educate you about your appliance and it's attendant issues. However, we do stand behind the findings and we can say with all verity that they are substantiated.

Description of Work: The chimney and fireplace were inspected and cleaned, and the fireplace was beautifully refurbished. The roof vents and furnace ducts were inspected, and sealed where needed. We were very happy with the results, and would definitely use this contractor again.

Description of Work: Inspected and Cleaned the fireplace pit & chimney from inside, Inspected outside chimney. |They were on time and performed the service in a very professional manner. Had the equipment to do the job properly without creating a mess. Answered all the questions we had. Clean-up was perfect. Once they left could not tell they were ever there.
