Description of Work: I was having new tile installed in my kitchen by Empire carpet (as extra review I would never use them again). there were layers of tile installed from previous owners and the tile installers were concerned there might be asbestos. I had never been through this before so in checking Angie's list, contacted Bluestone after checking what other choices were. They were very, very, nice and very helpful. the cost was $160.00 to test the samples of tile and I have no idea if that's reasonable or not. It was extra cost and frustration not the fault of Bluestone. They were so helpful to explain the testing. As it turned out, I did not need to use Bluestone for aspestos removal only the testing.

I gave these guys a call after reading reviews on Angies List. My father had a serious mold issue occurring in his basement. Spencer called me back right away and scheduled an appointment. I live in another state and my dad is in a wheelchair so I really needed someone I could trust to handle the job. Spencer showed up at the house on time for the evaluation and we had a bid proposal within 24 hours. I was impressed with how profesionally written and detailed the proposal was. Spencer was very patient w/ my father and addressed all of his concerns and explained technical jargon ie, HEPA. Furthermore, he spelled out recommendations that needed to be done after the mold remediaton was complete to prevent moisture from seeping in. The job only took 2 days and was completed on time. There were 2 diferent crews for the project. William was the supervisor on both days. Kareem and Eric were on Sat. Tyler 2nd Supervisor on Sat. I was told by my Dad the the entire crew was very professional and attentive toward his concerns. You'd have to know my father to understand this goes a long way as he's not the easiest person to deal with. While in the middle of the project it was discovered that the mold was worse than originally thought, but b/c it wasn't discovered before the bid proposal was submitted we weren't charged extra. The basement looks great! I wish I had before and after pics. I arrived into town and was blown away. These guys were very professional and disposed of all waste. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Mold remediation in basement. Removed laminate flooring, disinfect and scrub affected areas, apply anti-fungal encapsulant treatment, HEPA vacuum, dispose of all waste.

+ 0 moreTop-notch - a truly excellent experience - very happy with all aspects of their service. They were exceptionally helpful and responsive - for instance the initial inspection was scheduled for 6:30am so we could get to work on time. The quote was detailed and professional and the entire process, including the permitting, the abatement procedures, and the followup environmental testing was well-explained. Everyone we interacted with was courteous and professional at all times. I wish all contractors were this easy to deal with. I truly hope we never need to deal with asbestos again, but if we do, we know who to call. At the end, they even rebated us $100 from the quoted price because the job ran shorter than they had estimated. Nice touch.
Description of Work: Company inspected basement for any potential sources of asbestos contamination prior to basement remodel. One asbestos-clad insulated pipe was abated.

+ -1 moreSpencer came out and I had a quote later that day. We were lucky and we able to schedule the work to be done soon after that. The quote was competitive with another company. Vince and Will were very professional and careful while getting the area prepped with barriers, & removing the tile and mastic. My husband was thrilled his baseboards looked great after the cleanup and were taped up nicely. Very happy with this company and I would recommend them to anyone.

+ -1 moreIt was very reasonably priced and they were very efficient, but they fell through the ceiling. There were 2 holes in the ceiling. They were gracious. They paid for the repairs. They were quite respectful and reliable. The overall experience was very good.

Description of Work: We were surprised to be told that there were a few VAT tiles when our carpet was removed. Before we could have a new floor installed, we had to have the old 9" VAT tiles removed. Bluestone responded immediately, gave us an estimate and described the process. After checking around it seemed they were the most knowledgeable along with being "reasonable" --other companies tried to sell us on their "mold" services while Bluestone looked around and couldn't figure out what the other companies were referring to. They also arranged for our third party air clearance for the same price I could have done it on my own.

In the middle of a home repair, we discovered some mold in the ceiling. Bluestone was able to come over the next day to provide an estimate. After we accepted their bid, they were able to schedule the work for two days later. A team of 3 showed up on time to do the work (about 24 man hours). They were very professional and conscientious, moving furniture and preparing the area. They worked very hard and appear to have done a quality job (I'm not an expert but it looks good). They were good about explaining what they were doing, and cleaned up neatly. I would heartily recommend them.

They came and did the job. On time, pleasant, did work and cleaned up. Concern: Eight hour job took less than three hours. They claimed this was because there were two supervisors doing the work b/c of slow business. The bad: Mold appeared to show through and testing showed high mold spore count. The GOOD: I called, they asked if it passed the test. When I said no, they said when cam we come back! No questions asked. Two guys came, re-encapsulated, and one of the owners came out to inspect. Overall, was happy with the job. Hopefully, will last!
Description of Work: Had Mold remediation work done. Two men did the work. They cleaned area and removed mold by blasting. Then afterward, they painted over the wood with a mold encapsulant.

Soon after listing our condo for sale, we noticed a small wet spot in the corner that looked suspicious for mold. Bluestone was able to get out to our place quickly, provided a very informative estimate, and were able to schedule work quickly and flexibly so we had minimal disruption to our schedule of showings. The work proceeded as they outlined and they were able to pinpoint for us the small plumbing leak that led to the mold in the first place. Very good experience during a stressful time.

It went pretty well. They made a dramatic improvement in the airborne levels of mold. But, we had to back track again, hire an engineer to inspect the house and then hire another firm to finish up the job. Do: Hire an environment engineer to do the inspection. We used Curt Mankoff - www.moldinpsectionspecialists.com. They are listed on Angie's list and have a great rating. We highly recommend Curt. Don't: Depend on Bluestone to "find the problem". They mostly get rid of the stuff YOU find.
Description of Work: These guys were a friend in need. They were highly motivated to do the job right and extremely receptive. They gave us the best price by far to do the job, and when we expanded the scope of work they did not raise the price. That was all excellent. We brought them in to inspect the house (for free) before we bought it. They gave us an estimate for remediating mold before we bought the house. Since we did not own the house they were limited in what kind of invasive procedures they could do (they couldn't tear out dry wall for instance). Once we bought the house we hired them to "remediate the mold." After they were done we had the mold tested. The house still tested at higher levels than the control (the outside air) and it should have been lower than outside air. However, in their defence, the mold was only 10% of the levels after their remediation as it was before. Further, inspection revealed two other places with mold infestation. There was a misunderstanding. We thought they were doing a "whole house inspection" and they expected us to hire an environmental engineer to do that. So, we thought they were "getting rid of all the mold" and they thought there were just getting rid of the mold we identified. We subsequently (after the positive air test) hired an environmental engineer and he did a whole house inspecton. We found the two additional potential infestations. One proved to be pretty bad - the other was not so bad. We had another remeditation company do the second remediation. They seemed a little more "professional" than Bluestone. Nonetheless, I think that if we had hired an environmental engineer at the outset to find all the places that needed remediation and then got a quote from Bluestone to do the remediation based on the EE's suggestions that we would have been completely satisfied with Bluestone. I guess to summarize I would say - do not be frightened by Bluestone's low price - they will try very hard to make you happy - and they will work hard. But, do NOT depend on them to find all the mold in your house - hire an Environmetal or Industrial engineer to find the mold and outline a remediation program and hire someone like Bluestone to execute the remediation program.

+ -1 moreTheir representatives on the phone were extremely helpful. They were here when they said they would be; I had no trouble scheduling for them to come out. They did very neat work, there were no gouges in my floors. The area was spotless when they left. I could not be more satisfied with their service. They also tested for air quality, however, unbeknownst to them, I had another air quality person come and test after they left, and everything checked out perfectly. They gave me the best price out of all my other estimates.
