 + -1 moreArt was on time and he looked at the jobs I had for him. He hung up my pictures and then he fixed the downspout that was hanging from my house in two pieces. He had everything he needed for the jobs in his car. Art did a great job. I will use him again and recommend him to anyone who needs a handyman.

 + -1 moreEverything went very well. Art returned my calls and was very prompt. He is extremely neat and precise. The one light fixture I had ordered online and it was slightly bent. I told him to hang it and it is hardly noticeable. He was very nice to work with.

 + 0 moreoverall, went great. he was very meticulous. he took his time to make sure the job was done right and to our liking. he talked to my wife and i about some things to consider (pros / cons) prior to drilling into our bathroom tile. he showed me his host of superior anchors and other fasteners that he uses. he takes great pride in what he does; and backs it up. he's been back to our house several times afterward for other odds and ends and in some cases has not charged us b/c it was a 5 or 10 minute "job". would definately recommend him and use him again and again and again.
Description of Work: originally had art come out to do finish plumbing work - install showerhead and handheld shower system. also had him do some cualking and bathroom facuet / drain kit install.

 + 0 moreArt generally does not do emergency repairs, since I was relatively close and it was simple he agreed to come. He was professional and responsive. Once we realized that the lock could not be unlocked from the outside he gave me options of how to get inside. He explained what he was doing and made sure the issue could not happen again.
Description of Work: I had a bathroom door that had gotten locked from the inside. I could not get it unlocked. Art took the doorknob apart and removed the lock since it did not have a fool proof release.

 + 1 moreIt was a small job, just plastering a hole in the wall that the electrician made, but he did it perfectly and quickly. I definitely would not hesitate to call him again for other small jobs around the house. As a matter of fact, I am going to have him replace a kitchen faucet after the new year.
Description of Work: I emailed Art and he called me back the next day. I explained that I had a small job, he quoted me the hourly rate and we set up a date (Saturday) for him to take a look at the job. Art was on time, and took a look at the repair. I had an electrician run a line to put in a new outlet, but it left a 12" x 1" hole in my kitchen wall. I was going to repair it myself, but I'm glad I hired Art to do it.... I would have done it all wrong. He plastered the hole, cleaned up after himself and was out the door in half an hour. We scheduled his next visit to complete the planter/prime the repair for the next day. Again Art was right on time. He completed the project to my satisfaction. I also talk to him about doing some other "minor' fixes around the house after the holiday, early next year. He is a very nice person! I feel that I found a gem!

 + 2 moreI own a rental property and needed some work done on a few doors that no longer closed. The front door did not have a stopper, so it slammed into the wall. The closet doors were a bit more complicated as the tenant had done something so that they no longer closed. Art explained everything he was doing and did an excellent job. The "little" things make a huge difference and I was thankful that he came out and fixed these problems as small as they seem. I highly recommend Art to anyone who has small jobs in the area where he works. He is very focused on quality and has excellent communication skills.
Description of Work: The work included installing door stops on the front door, tightening the toilet seat, replacing a part in the toilet that was causing it to continue running, repairing 3 closet doors, re-attaching verticle blinds on the patio door.

 + -1 moreArt showed up early and was very accomodating with my schedule. I appreciated all the tips he gave me for the electrical work that was done. He had to do a minor modification to install one of the fixtures; and it was no problem at all for him. He was very personable and seemed to know exactly what to do and had all the necessary tools. I would definately use him again for small projects that I am not comfortable doing on my own.
Description of Work: Replaced two different bathroom fixtures with new ones. Installed a GCFI outlet in a hall bathroom. Trouble shooted a bath fan motor problem.

 + -1 moreArt came in and did a same day inspection of the jobs and then went to work....SOOOO HAPPY ABOUT THAT! He fixed a leak under my guest bathroom sink (replaced old pipe with new plastic). He went right to the laundry closet and besement to assess our problem. replaced all vent tubing (Pulled out years of dryer fuzz!). He needed to pull out dryer and remove one of our doors, but CLEANED up everything, and put everything back in order. THANK YOU ART!!!!!  + 1 moreArt was able to schedule an appointment for the same week I called. He was very thorough in asking questions about the projects I needed done and he called the night before to verify the appointment. He arrived right on time the next day. Art is very neat, thorough and knowledgeable. He brought the tools he needed (no trips back and forth to the van eating up time) and cleaned up as he went along and when finished. We discussed projects I want to do in the future and he offered advice about them. I certainly will be using Art again. Also, there was no "travel charge" that some handymen charge.
Description of Work: Art took down an old ceiling fan and hung a new one - this was most time consuming. He removed a patio door (on a very narrow patio) so that it could be cleaned and replaced it making sure that it would close and seal properly. He put up a hook for a hanging fixture in the living room.

 + -1 moreOverall it went very well. Murphy's Law, as usual, came into play, but the problem was solved and we progressed quickly.
Description of Work: Art was hired to install grab bars in two baths. Because we live in a high-rise condo, wood studs are not between the walls, so we were unsure how to go about properly securing these devices. Art arrived with his "special" supplies and went to work after explaining what he would do and how he would do it. He was very careful about penetrating other units' walls or affecting common items like plumbing or electrical. He's very friendly and professional and cleans up after himself nicely. My only small complaint was that he was a little late the first time, but he did call when he was supposed to be here and say he would be another 10 or 15 minutes. Hardly worth mentioning, really. He promptly returned our first call and always called the night before he was to work to make sure we were in agreement as to time and date. I think this man could do ANYTHING well. I would definitely use him again. He's great for those "little" jobs that no one else seems to want.

 + -1 moreArt managed to find parts to repair a 39-year old ventilation fan. Several other people had said it couldn't be fixed. Replacing it was not an option, because the ceiling is wallpapered and the old one is round but the new ones are square. I told him his business card should read "Art the Amazing Guy". While here, he also tightened the toilet seat and "swapped" the wall switch.
Description of Work: Repaired a powder room ventilation fan.

 + 0 moreWe used Art for 3 or 4 things over the past couple years, and he is worth his weight in gold. He is reliable, friendly, diligent and charges a very reasonable price. We have recently moved away from Chicago, and we are looking for "an Art". A reliable, trustworthy, and quality handyman is tough to find. One example, when our garbage disposal broke, we called Art. He was able to install one the next morning, and he even went to the store and bought a replacement for us! It cost us only Art's labor cost. Wow. (Art, you may want to raise your rate.)

 + 0 moreMy smoke detector was going off regularly and there was no smoke or fire. The detector was not battery operated, but wired into the electric of the house. Art came to my house right after I got off the phone with him and disconnected the alarm. He came back the next day and replaced the detector and one upstairs with new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors that he had purchased. He also fixed a broken stair railing in my basement.

Then, he troubleshooted the problem with the porch lights and determined that it was just a loose wire. He also replaced several dimmers with regular switches (which he just happened to have with him in his car). Finally, he installed a new garbage disposal. Art was courteous and knowledgeable and gave me some good home maintenance tips as well. We would definitely use him again.

He corrected a long standing problem with the plumbing and relocated a water purification filter to a more convenient location. He took apart a nasal on the water purification and cleaned it. He fixed a sliding door and mounted it correctly. He did do quality work and the price that he gave me was reasonable. Because he has a broader skill set it was a lot easier you for me because I didn't have to contact several different people to do multiple jobs. His prices were reasonable and I would definitely recommend him and use him again.
