I have just had to pay $863.94 to repair and replace trees that Emerald Landscaping planted in November 2007. Receipts are enclosed. I asked Matt McFadden, the owner, repeatedly to come to my home and look at my dying trees and he would not come. I finally had Grace Trees evaluate and try to repair the damage. The trees were planted too deeply and four of the nine aspen had to be cut down, and the others had to have the dirt peeled back to properly expose the crown of the trunk so they wouldn?t die and needed major pruning to get rid of the dead branches. This also had to be done to the three Swedish aspen and the River Birch in the front yard. I had to replace one tree for the three that were cut down in one area. Emerald Landscaping agreed to landscape my backyard for $15,000 which was paid promptly. Matt did not give me a written estimate or receipt. He did not finish the work. In addition to the above expense, I had to hire another landscaper for $7000 to complete the sprinkler system and complete the landscaping and put in the necessary drains. Emerald had put the wrong heads on the sprinklers that he did place, didn?t complete the sprinkler lines where necessary, and did not connect the lines to the main source that turns them on or provide a ?sprinkler control box? in the garage. He did not put in French drains as was agreed to and did not properly grade the back yard. When I showed Matt pictures of the flooded half of my yard; his solution was to send a laborer over to dump a 5 gallon bucket of dirt in the middle of the yard. It was not raked out, just left as it was dumped. Also, he did not complete the installation of the water features as agreed to. I mistakenly trusted a man I thought was a man of faith and integrity. My mother and I live here together and we are both on fixed incomes through Social Security. Due to the economy, we have lost our last client and had to close our home based payroll service. It has been very difficult to pay these extra charges. At this point, I don?t know how we will manage to come up with the funds for the latest bill. The honorable thing to do would be for Emerald Landscape to reimburse me the recent charges to fix his mistakes. I hate to feel ashamed that I trusted someone.
Description of Work: Unfortunately, when I solicited three bids for landscaping for a new home, I allowed myself to be impressed by the man and what he said he would do. He did not give me a written estimate or bill - just collected the money. He said he was just too busy to do paperwork. He landscaped my backyard per my design, however it took him forever and he hired young, inexperienced and unsupervised people to do the work. He admitted later that he had fired everyone yet he did nothing to rectify the problems. He did not complete the work or repond to me when my trees started dying the next spring.
