We contacted McKenzie Landscaping LLC for sprinkler turn on and adjustment (if needed) on a house we recently purchased. We received an email back stating that the technician would call the day before to make sure we would be able to be home so he would have access to the control box, which is located in the garage. Instead he called the day of, saying he'd be over in about an hour. Given we were heading out the door at the time, he said he'd be right over. When he showed up he started the system, which was fine. The issue is, other than complaining at me the entire time that he hated this brand of control box and what a lousy job that was done installing the system itself. When inquiring on replacement cost and availability, I received snippy comments and attitude about how lousy it was rather than actually discussing what I asked in a professional manner. The technician also refused to communicate with me until the end when he stated that he'd done rewiring and replaced a sprinkler head. No discussing with me if I wanted the work done or even letting me know he was doing it. He also left the property without putting the sprinkler boxes back together. To add insult to injury, I received a bill for the sprinkler head, the turn on, and an hour and a half worth of labor. Given he wasn't at our house an hour, the fact that we were charged for the time it took to do the turn on on top of the $35 turn on fee on top of time he wasn't working is ridiculous. After contacting the company stating we had records showing he was not working for the 1.5 hours charged, they adjusted it so we only had to pay for 45 minutes labor since we were "not satisfied with the irrigation service" - again, still paying for the time it took him to turn the sprinklers on. The job he did was unprofessional and slip-shot at best. We discovered yesterday that in "adjusting" the sprinklers that he had failed to adjust properly (to where they had been which had been covering the lawn), so the lawn hasn't been getting watered as it should have been. With our expectation that we were hiring a professional, we didn't realize that we would have to go out and re-do the work we were over charged for. Had we know this we would have performed the service ourselves.
Description of Work: We hired McKenzie Landscaping LLC to perform a sprinkler turn on and sprinkler head adjustment (if necessary).

Response from McKenzie Landscaping LLC
To Whom It May Concern, I apologize (Member name removed) didn't get the experience that they deserved. The technician is only human and should have kept his personal feeling about the quality of the brand himself. The (Member name removed) didn't pick out this system, it came with the house. Instead he should have talked to them about the inefficiency of the system and how it can be improved. The sprinkler turn on service includes coming out, turning on the system and testing it. A wiring problem would mean we couldn't even test the system, so the technician would have to do some repairs to even get the system on. It should have been conveyed to (Member name removed) that a repair was needed to even get the system on. I have talked with the technician about good communication with the customers. I can understand the assumption on the technician's part to stay focused on the repair instead of working with the customer, but it is a necessary part of the job. I did return to (Member name removed) house on 6/3/14 to give them a full walk-through to ensure that the system was working properly and to check on my technician's work. I did feel that the system did not efficiently cover the dry areas and was a substandard system. These dry areas would have been there in previous years before they bought the home. I have made several adjustments to help compensate for the lack of sprinkler coverage. I also found one head that wasn't working correctly and replaced it with a a new one. I charged them only the cost of the sprinkler head. I explained to (Member name removed) that their system didn't have a filter, allowing all the irrigation debris to pass along to the heads and this would only decrease the life of the heads. Other than the sprinkler head, my return visit was at no cost to (Member name removed.) There are definitely some areas that we could have made go a little smoother. Better communication with the (Members name removed) would have been a good start. I do feel that the work preformed was satisfactory and the bad head that I replaced was a moth later and could have gone out at anytime, especially with their system having no filter. As far as the billing concerns, I'm glad that the office was able to handle it. Sincerely, Robert Welfley- General Manager.

As soon as I saw the first mow job, I got my own. It was completely uneven and looked horrible (due to uneven ground I suppose).. Somehow I manage to get it even with little effort using a real mower.. When I cancelled further mowing I confirmed with their office I was still waiting the tree work. The office manager said she was getting me on the schedule and someone would call me with a time. That was over 5 weeks ago. I finally hired another service (Wolfe) who showed up same day for bid and did the work in 3 days. I have never heard from Mackenzie about even scheduling the tree work. Oh, and it stopped raining a couple days after the bid.
Description of Work: I just moved here and asked them for a bid and subsequent tree prune and removal. They promptly camee out for the bid but said they couldn't do the work until the rain stopped. I also asked them to mow a small area until I could get my own mower.
