Description of Work: Removed trees and sod from the backyard; and graded backyard for proper drainage. Then installed new sod and new trees. Also created some curb appeal to the front of the house. The crews punctuality could have been a lot better. Overall we were pleased with the completed work.

Description of Work: In my backyard, Georgia Outdoors removed old grass from backyard, tilled up soil, laid zoysia sod, installed a rock path, replaced sprinkler system valve. In the front yard they removed dying sod in several area, tilled the area, added soil improvement, filled in a rut, and laid sod. Mike came by and provided an estimate and of three he was most reasonable. We decided on a date for his team to perform the work. When he discovered he would be working a job nearby he called and asked if he could move the date earlier. I agreed. He and his team arrived promptly and got right to work. And old rock path in the back yard they pulled up, laid it back down and meticulously cut sod to fit around each stone. Before leaving Mike went over watering recommendations for the sod. The valve his team replaced started to leak on the following day. I called and within a couple hours a member of his team returned and made the repair. Overall exceeded my expectations and will use them in the future.

+ 0 moreOriginally I had given them high marks for their work. Price was fair for work performed - however - I now realize that they used a power loader to move river stone into my back yard area. The power loader has chipped up my driveway in several places creating scrape marks and chips out the otherwise flat surface. It has scared about a 8x10 area of my driveway. I do not understand why the operator continued to use it when they say it was scaring the concrete. They should have loaded the stones in the street vs the concrete finished surface.
Description of Work: Landscaping, dry creek bed, sod, pine stray, river rock, terraced areas.

+ 1 moreI called Georgia and set up an appointment with Mike. He showed up on time and spent over an hour with me explaining what he could do with my yard. I had some ideas but after speaking with him, I went with his plan. Other companies visited my yard but after speaking with them I was confused and I was sure I could not afford to create an enjoyable backyard. I scheduled the work and they arrived on time. They worked all day (12 hours) and completed about 90%. They returned the next day to finish. Mike and I went over everything at the end and I was completely satisfied. My neighbors cannot believe the difference. I live on a golf course and golfers tell me my yard is nicer than the course.
Description of Work: Mike and his team transformed an unusable backyard into a great living area. They grated the area smooth and added topsoil. They made sure the water drained away from the house and then added 6 pallets of sod.

+ 0 moreA neighbor recommended this company & I checked it out on Angie's list. Mike Diehl came to the house, scoped the job and quote me the price right away. He is very knowledgeable, and most important of all -- very fair. He suggested cheaper alternatives which I was very impressed, and educated me on things I need to know. The crew was even more impressive. Mike explained the work before they started, they completed all the work very professionally and cleaned up afterwards. Even though they don't speak much English, they are very smart and understood what I asked them about -- the result looks better than what I expected. I am so happy that I have asked Mike to quote me the next project already. UPDATE: They already finished the 2nd project and it's just as impressive as the first. Mike is working on a quote for the 3rd project for me now. :-)
Description of Work: 1.) On the right side of the home, excavate the dirt for the new walls. Install a new wall 12 x 3ft running back from the back right corner. Have a set of steps 2 blocks wide winding down the end of the wall. Then install one off to the right of the steps 8 ft x 1 ft. 2.) Fell and remove the cherry on the back right. 3.) Bury the drain pipe to end under the bushes

That has been worked out. They are pretty responsive when I call them and things like that. They come fairly regularly. I have recommended them to friends.

He told me his ideas and it was a lot cheaper than other companies that were not clear about their yard plan. We scheduled and he arrived on time. A lot of work over a two day period. They worked hard all day with a couple of short breaks. Everything turned out great and he transformed my backyard from a mess to utopia. Mike is straight up and I will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: They removed a tree, grated the yard, added topsoil, installed sod, and planted two trees.

We have used Mike and his crew on three other occasions - two for tree removal from storm damage and once for tree pruning as maintenance. The service, price, and professionalism are all outstanding. We love them so much, we are having them build a landscaping wall next and replace some of our lawn in the Fall.

His installers were responsive to my requests and cleaned up everything before they left. I had two problems with the irrigation system which Mike fixed within days of my call. I plan to use him for additional landscaping next year.
Description of Work: Georgia Outdoor Services put in an irrigation system, removed 6 Leyland cypress trees and replaced half my grass with zoysia.

Once we decided to move forward with project, his team arrived on time and completed all work in a timely manner. They did a great job with all pieces of project and were very conscience of clean-up and waste. Would highly recommend and will definitely use him agian.

+ -1 moreThey were good and did the survey. They have a minimum charge to come out. My wife took care of it and got a couple of different quotes. We always try to go with somebody that we think is honest, dependable and takes time with us. They had something to do with all those qualities.
Description of Work: We used Georgia Outdoor Services to stake our fence line for a new fence. The homeowner association said we had to put the fence right on the fence line so we wanted to make sure the fence was accurately put in.

+ -1 moreThey were on Angie’s List. They only had 1 comment, but they were a local company and close. With the kind of work I wanted done, I thought I would probably give them a shot. I am a veteran, so I got a little bit of a veteran’s discount which was a pleasant surprise. There was a little bit of a problem with it, but it was one of those things. It was outdoor work and there was a lot of rain here. We would make an appointment, and then they couldn’t make it because of the rain. Then, I would get a call back from them. They would say that they couldn’t really do it on that day because of the other job that was delayed and so on. Their timing wasn’t that right, but it was understandable. They showed up on time and did the work in a timely manner.

+ 1 moreI spoke with Rob Diehl for the estimate. He understood our wants and needs and gave us a detailed landscape drawing for the front of the house, accompanied by a detailed line item estimate. Since we will be doing this in stages, we chose the retaining wall and sidewalk to do first. We then met Rob at a stone yard to choose the stacked stone and flagstone that we wanted.. A start date was scheduled and crew arrived at 8 am sharp each day, usually working eleven-hour days. Crew worked very hard and was very accommodating. Mike Diehl, the owner, supervised the job the first couple of days and then checked in often to ensure the work was being completed to our satisfaction. We were very pleased with the end result. Neighbors have commented about how nice it all looks. Would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Replaced a timber retaining wall with a beautiful stacked stone wall along the driveway, approx. 35' long x 2' high. Replaced a concrete sidewalk in front of house with a more aesthetically pleasing curved, flagstone walkway. Also did some tree trimming.

+ 0 moreThey did a fair job at first, but part of the yard sunk with the first rain and they did not do a good job with enough bark. After paying for the quoted job plus an additional pallet of sod and several hundred dollars of bark, I still was not happy. They called me and said they would be coming out to reroll the yard and add more bark. In the end, I have a great drainage solution, great bark beds and 90% of the sod has taken and looks good, about 15 strips of sod look to be dead. I am pleased overall with the job.
Description of Work: I had a major drainage problem and needed my back yard re-sodded. They came out and dug a 12' X 12' by 10 foot deep pit filled with gravel to allow the drainage pipe coming from the street to filter into their new pit and not into my back yard. Also they were to replace all of the sod with Bermuda sod and pine bark.

+ -1 moreI had other companies come out before Southern Lawn, and they were all a lot more expensive and said that it would be 2-3 weeks before the got started. Southern Lawn gave me a quote and got to work 3 days later. They were also finished in 2 DAYS when the others said it would take over a week. This is the best company!
Description of Work: My lawn is fairly big and wasn't getting enough water so I had a lot of brown spots. Mike came out and had a look and told me that a 6-zone irrigation system would solve all my problems. HE WAS RIGHT.
