Complaints filed with: North Carolina Department of Justice North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating, Fire Sprinkler Contractors State Board of Electrical Contractors Mead Indoor's - Ducts aren't tested and leak - costing you money - Tarps are permeable. - costing you money - HVACs aren't sized - costing you money - Insulation is insufficient. - costing you money - crawl framing not sealed - costing you money - crawl spaces left moldy. - costing you more than money Always have an independent third party check the work. That's what we did and we will share our findings at no charge email: lhmg1990@gmail ELECTRICALLY SENSITIVE INDIVIDUALS: Mead installs WIFI enabled Honeywell Thermostats. This is done without notifying their customers or offering hard-wired options. All of our previous systems were hard-wired. All of that hard-wiring was removed by Mead during replacement. An EMF/RF audit discovered the WIFI enabled thermostats. They ping every 15 seconds without interruption. Right under where we sat in our living room. Thousands of dollars were spent to remove the WIFI and replace it with hard-wiring. Mead was paid approximately $175,000 for the work. The review was conducted by an ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) Instructor who works with building biologists throughout the country. Here are the findings: 6 Statute Violations - Class 2 Misdemeanors - Impersonating a contractor - Failure to hold General Contractor License - Unauthorized practice of heating contracting - Unauthorized practice of plumbing contracting - Unauthorized practice of electrical contracting 1 Statute Violation - Class 1 Misdemeanor - Failure to obtain Permit prior to beginning of work 16 Building Code violations - Class 3 Misdemeanors - Failure to air seal crawl space assemblies - Failure to provide required vapor retarder (no permeability rating) - Failure to provide proper grade and positive drain - Failure to install thermal insulation (floor or walls) - Failure to provide proper thermal insulation on crawl space access doors - Failure to perform room by room Manual J load calculation - Failure to Size Duct system in accordance with ACCA Manual D - Failure to leak test duct system - Failure to pass allowed total duct leakage (> 5 cfm) - Failure to provide supplemental heat lock out - Failure to install equipment in accordance with manufacturer's instructions - Failure to install hub drain and back-flow preventer - Failure to provide proper circuit protection - Failure to provide ground fault protection - Failure to provide proper service access to an appliance - Failure to provide sunroom with dedicated HVAC based upon temperature differentials No one should have any work done by Mead unless they can have it certified for correctness and completeness.

Great! The workers showed up earlier than expected, did not get my house dirty, cleaned up their work areas before they left, and all of the workers could speak English and give us answers about the job. These guys are good, the best we have every used! All the plumbing under our floor was changed from the gray pipe to CPVC. Workers removed and disposed of all gray pipe. They installed a new hot water heater, put a pan under it, and did a drain They installed a drain for our washing machine. They put a new needed vent on the plumbing for our washing machine (the old drain was too low to the floor and could not get proper air). A pan had been put under the washer and they plumbed a drain for that. They installed a new hose bib on the other side of the house ( there was only one on the back of the house). The replaced the vapor barrier properly, and had removed any insulation that was wet. They installed new water supply lines on every faucet in the house (12 faucets). They installed copper supply lines for our 2 showers. There was a team of 4 professional plumbers, who did this job in one day. This work was done in spring of 2017
Description of Work: We had all of our plumbing changed from the gray pipe to CPVC.

Going elsewhere.
Description of Work: I called Mead as my Dr recommended him to come out and check for mold because of s result in a lab test. He called back very quickly and I explained what we needed. He went into his sales pitch of how they do everything from Hvac to this and that. I thought okay I just want the home tested right now because I really don't think mold is an issue, we had it checked previously. He then said it sounds like it will cost about 30,000 to fix your problem and asked "do you have that kind of money? Otherwise, it's better if you don't test and dont know if you have a problem!" Now he has never been to our home, no visible signs of mold, but he knows it will cost 30k. I just said, "so your are saying you won't just come out and test?" I could afford him and will be looking for another company now that will actually come out and check before trying to tell me the solution.

Mold remediation is a serous business because mold is so dangerous. It gets into the air we breathe, travels to organs and glands, and causes all kinds of serious illnesses, as it did in my case when I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2014 and found myself facing potential surgeries. Hiring a company that knew what it was doing was paramount, as mold counts in our 1960s crawlspace and basement were TNTC, too numerous to count. We needed something that would work?quickly, efficiently, and permanently. In Mead Indoor, we found what we were looking for. Guided by recommendations from my doctors, one of whom is the leading thyroid specialist in the Southeast (and whose own home had been remediated by Mead Indoor), I saw why they recommended this company. Not only is its founder, Bill Meadows, a trained scientist, he is also certified in Bau-Biologie, based on German principles that address the connection between a healthy home and a healthy life. As Germany is the world leader in health, I was impressed by the disciplines that informed the comprehensive solutions Bill designed for our home. To my knowledge, there is no other mold remediation company in Georgia that is as well educated or that employs the clearly advanced technology that Mead Indoor uses. My trust in this company was well placed: two months after remediation, my thyroid returned to normal and all talk of surgery has ceased. Before I close, I would like to add that Mead Indoor employees are highly skilled, deeply committed, and profoundly caring. They are not workers plucked from a bus stop; they are experienced individuals who work with deep, quiet resolve, and the work they do is conscientious, fastidious, and impeccable. When making a routine inspector of the work that Mead Indoor had done in our home, all the inspector could say was "Wow!" C. Belcher

It was good. I have a new HVAC system, but I needed someone who was a biologist/environmentalist because I have had issues with mold in the past. They came highly recommended, and are often referred by doctor offices for people who have sinus issues , hay fever, or allergies. Often times there are so many particulates and impurities inside your home than what you experience outside. He came and did his assessment. He was a little high on his recommendations, but I didn't use him I don't know if he is worth the added extra cost or not. I have not done anything with this yet, but I have had other quotes and they were half the price he was recommending. Also on the recommendation on the crawl space I have had estimates on that in the past and he was a couple thousand more than what I have gotten from previous quotes. Then there is no guarantee that it would be the thing to solve the problem. First thing was adding some air cleaner and then a high end humidifier. Also doing some sealing and cleaning of the coils on the HVAC so that it did not have any infiltration or dirt. The remediation of the crawlspace, which I had already had done, but he felt that it needed to be done over and done his way. Part of the issue is me because I have mycotoxin poisoning because of my exposure to mold in the past. I am hypersensitive. I have to either move out of my house and find a hyper-clean space or fix my space that I am currently in. We are about the point in putting it on the market and selling it. Putting all that extra money into because of my sensitivity is just not worth it. I can put a better dehumidifier in my basement so I thought why pay them to hook it up to my full system when the primary issue is in my basement. What I was thinking was I would get one of those units that is stand alone that you can put it in the room that you are in. The primary time that I have an issue is when I go to bed at night so I thought I would put it in the room with me to see if it helps, and if it does we know that is part of the issue. And if I move I can take it with me instead of spending all that money. He didn't give me a written quote, he just gave me a verbal quote. He said he wouldn't put it in writing until I agreed that I would go with him. I thought that was odd because I have never had anyone do that before. His knowledge and expertise, especially for people who are hypersensitive, every other review I read was about the same. He is very good in this industry he just tends to be a little pricey, and was overpriced for the market. The quote that I got from my HVAC company, that can do all of the same stuff he can do, was proposing more equipment and their price was still coming below his. I am still out there on the fence about hiring him to redo the crawlspace, but we will have to wait to see. If I moved to a different place I would hire him for an inspection before I move in.

It went great; the man who wrote the proposal for the job was very thorough, going under the floor and making many notes. There were no 'surprises' and no additional costs added as the work was done. They finished right on time. The workers were clean, friendly, and could all speak english. We were very impressed with the carpenter, who not only did a good job replacing the floor, but made sure the washing machine hoses were installed correctly, and made sure the washer worked. All the crew cleaned up behind themselves very well. We paid half up front and half when the job was completed, as agreed. The crew had a supervisor, but also another supervisor came to check on the job midway of the work. We were very pleased with their work.
Description of Work: Replaced wet floor where washing machine had leaked, replaced board under floor that had been removed years ago by plumbers,: tore out all old stringy insulation, leveled ground under home, cleaned out from under home (even found a dead opossum under there), sprayed to prevent mold, installed all new insulation, sealed every entry hole (like around pipes and wires) to help weatherize home; put fabric under insulation; put tarp on ground under floor.

They are probably good but my experience with them so far, I would say is negative. I went on Angie's list looking for that kind of service and it seemed like they might have been high priced which I took from the reviews. It seemed like they have good quality for that high price which is based on the reviews. However, he showed up late like three times. They said it would take four hours, this is the owner Mr. Mead. They were supposed to show up 9 o'clock and they never nailed down to a specific 9 o'clock they just said around 9 o'clock. The first time he didn't show up, he forgot. The second time he showed up but the person that was supposed to come with him, the technician did not show up. He says he actually sent them to another job because one of his other clients said they needed help with something. When the technician was out there he got shocked because the client did not turn off the circuit breaker and the technician did not check if the circuit breaker was turned off. So this guy was sitting at my house for hours and he does not tell me this. Another time he turned up late and they tried to reschedule again and I just kind of I give up and I am going to find somebody else because this is not a good experience for me thus far. They might be good but I did not have a chance to experience that. They were never able to do anything substantial becasue the technician was never here. Their administrative person was really nice when I called. They are really nice people which kind of throw you off.

The mold spores in all the petri samples grew to a disgusting extent, which helped us decide to take further action. Since we were left with the impression from Bill that the costs of ridding our basement of mold contamination would be quite high, we sought the opinion of other services. Two HVAC companies chosen for their knowledge of environmental issues visited us and both concluded that most of the problem could be taken care of by installing a dehumidifier system, which we did. That has helped to reduce the mildew odors, but we may have to take another couple of steps. Bill called later to ask what we had done and reminded us that some basement insulation should be replaced. That is something we plan to take care of soon. He also gave us some advice us about an unrelated service we intend to do--add insulation to our 20-year-old attic. He said we should have the old insulation removed and the attic cleaned before adding new insulation. We were pleased to get that unsolicited advice.
Description of Work: Bill Meadows from Mead did a very thorough examination of our basement, following up on our concerns about mold & mildew. He gave a number of suggestions and left us with 3 petri dish samples taken from various places to see if the mold spores would grow.

We have used Mead for a long time for our regular maintenance, so when our entire system needed replacing, we used them to take care of it. We have always been pleased with their work, but be prepared, you will pay double, and sometimes triple what other contractors will charge. The trade off is you can be sure they will do it right. The owner is very knowledgeable about environmental concerns and sensitivities, so that is a bonus too.

Mead's inspector was very thorough and did some testing. His inspection of furnace convinced us to replace it, even though it was working fine. However, we were led to believe that the inspection would be free. The thoroughness of his inspection and time spent persuaded us to comply with his request for reimbursement. Our biggest complaint was his unwillingness to detail the costs of all the improvements he recommended, as well as the implied cost of replacing the furnace. We decided to ask HVAC companies to give their recommendations and chose to accept one of them to provide what seemed to be adequate solutions to our basement concerns.

Our basement flooded and it was kind of a slow flood, it was more like carpet soaking up water. And so what happened was we got into a mold issue. They do mold remediation in figuring out where the water's coming from. The first thing they did was to rip out all the bad carpet and find where the water was coming in. Then they did mold remediation, took the carpet that was decent, salvaged one room of carpet and then got the other room ready to tile. The next thing they did was they replaced my whole house drain,so that was happening outside. They can do just about anything that involves protecting your house from mold, and they do it with excellence and they quote your price. They're incredible. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. They put all my landscaping back together, he plants that died they replaced them and so they go above and beyond. The quality and the price go together.

Bill Meadows with Mead Indoor comes across as an authority on healthy house and rightfully so as he has much experience in building biology and healthy home protocols, but he also came across unprofessional as he was abrasive at times and kept on saying that he absolutely DID NOT do any environmental consultations and was NOT interested in healthy house consulting even though his referrals said that he does do this and his brochure that his company mailed to my home states that he does environmental phone consultations. He seemed to do a good and thorough job on the day of the healthy home inspection and had good pictures of sick homes and healthy homes; however the builder seemed to get a bit defensive as Bill came across too strongly at times. His quote to fix up the house was very expensive coming in over $60,000. He seemed chagrined that we were not going to proceed with the remediation and was hesitant to want to take on the healthy home HVAC on the new house that we decided to build even though he got to keep the $2,000 for the estimate! I had to keep on calling him to try and get the quote for the new HVAC system which would include central dehumidification and metal ductwork. I emailed the floor plans to him and kept calling. One day when I called he said that he would call me back that day. Two weeks passed and still no quote. I sent him a reminder email, and then finally got a phone call back with the estimate of a grand $80,000 to install a healthy HVAC and also with sarcastic remarks! We later got several other estimates on the job that were HALF of this price. We also were able to find another building biologist that was much friendlier and readily did buiding biology and healthy home consultations. Also, the building biologist that we hired to help us with our new home construction reviewed Bill's recommendations and fundamentally disagreed with his recommendation of adding central humidification to the HVAC because he said that this could lead to legionnaires disease. Also, we found out from the buidling bilogist that we hired that there are newer and better ways to build a healthy home that have proven to be very effective as well as energy efficient, like using soy foam insulation instead of encapsulated fiberglass insulation which Bill recommended. A positive on Mead Indoor was talking with Tricia over the phone; she was a wealth of information and had a wonderful testimony. As I did my reference checking prior to hiring Bill to give us an estimate, I learned that others also believed that Mead Indoor was very overpriced.
Description of Work: Bill Meadows with Mead Indoor came over from the Atlanta, Georgia area to give us an estimate on healthy house remediation on a new home. This house ended up falling through for us, and then we asked Bill to give us an estimate on creating a healthy HVAC system for our new house construction that we decided to undertake.

My air conditioning unit seemed less effective than it should be and air passing through the outside unit seemed poorly dispersed upon leaving it. The Mead Indoor technician diagnosed the problem as accumulated dirt in the outdoor unit's condenser coil fins. He cleaned them thoroughly with a chemical and pressure water. He also showed me how to avoid the problem recurring. The air conditioner works better now. I also was having trouble with my clothes dryer vent. It kept clogging. This is because it had been installed originally with a 1/4and quot; steel screen in it, presumably to keep critters out. The Mead technician cut out the steel screen and adjusted the outside flap so it closes properly when the dryer is not in use. The dryer works much better now and I won't have to keep cleaning lint off the steel mesh. I have used Mead Indoor before and they have always done a great job. They do HVAC preventive maintenance for me twice a year. Knowledgeable, helpful technicians, fair pricing, accurate and honest assessment of what needs to be done, clean up afterwards, treat my home like their own. Wish all service providers were like them.

They were exceptional but pricey. They transformed this house from a moldy, an unhealthy environment to an extremely healthy and clean place. They were great. They are extremely professional. The owner is very particular. They are like super brainy engineer people who have figured out how to destroy these organisms and make the worst environment into a boisterous one. They were really good. They did a lot of work.
Description of Work: I used Mead Indoor EnviroTech since the house had mold and radon. They worked for two months on this house. They completely washed the house down, they took out every bit of insulation from the attic down into the basement, they washed every corner of the house with an enzyme, they cleaned all the air duct systems, put two new units outside, and redid all the vent areas.

Because of severe allergies, I had Mead Indoor completely rebuild one HVAC system in our home, and totally replace the second one because of mold contamination. The on-site team (especially Dwayne and Chris) was absolutely incredible! They were the most professional, competent, careful, CLEAN, respectful, and helpful group of workers we've ever had in our house! It was a huge project, requiring more than two weeks. Because my husband and I both work out of our home, we were concerned about having people in the house for that long, but it wasn't an issue. The Mead team was very flexible and able to work around us, and they did everything they could to be completely unobtrusive. All in all, having the Mead guys in our home was a very positive experience. The results were amazing as well. The quality of our air is unbelievably better, and allergy symptoms have improved immeasurably. The bottom line is, if you want the best for your home environment....even if you don't have allergies....the ONLY company to call is Mead Indoor!
Description of Work: My husband and I had two HVAC systems worked on because of mold. One system was completely rebuilt, and the other was completely replaced. In addition, Mead Indoor cleaned the ducts, added a de-humidifier to each system, and an air cleaner to each system. They also removed an attic fan (and completely dry walled and painted the ceiling so it looks like it was never there!), and replaced the two smaller attic fans that pull out the hot air. Basically, they completely changed the air/environment of our house!

This company disappointed me a little. They gave me a price quote on the phone. Then they increased that quote by fifty dollars for a filter they said was free on the phone. It was one of those things where the office said one thing and the guys who came out said another. Based on that alone though, I do not feel I would use them again. I am a person who is always leaving positive feedback on AL for companies I use too so I was a little shocked to find this company did that with the pricing.

Their pricing was competitive. They know what they're doing. We've had a few hot days- this was installed a few months ago. We've tested the heating and cooling, and they both work great.
