Complaints filed with: North Carolina Department of Justice North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating, Fire Sprinkler Contractors State Board of Electrical Contractors Mead Indoor's - Ducts aren't tested and leak - costing you money - Tarps are permeable. - costing you money - HVACs aren't sized - costing you money - Insulation is insufficient. - costing you money - crawl framing not sealed - costing you money - crawl spaces left moldy. - costing you more than money Always have an independent third party check the work. That's what we did and we will share our findings at no charge email: lhmg1990@gmail ELECTRICALLY SENSITIVE INDIVIDUALS: Mead installs WIFI enabled Honeywell Thermostats. This is done without notifying their customers or offering hard-wired options. All of our previous systems were hard-wired. All of that hard-wiring was removed by Mead during replacement. An EMF/RF audit discovered the WIFI enabled thermostats. They ping every 15 seconds without interruption. Right under where we sat in our living room. Thousands of dollars were spent to remove the WIFI and replace it with hard-wiring. Why was this done?: Quick, Easy, Cheap Background: 2017 Mead replaces HVAC systems and remediates home Mead maintains systems for two years 2021: Assessment / Discovery of Violations by Mead 2024: Statute of Limitations expires When multiple parties found mold in multiple places in our crawl space that Mead Indoor supposedly cleaned (and fogged twice), we decided to conduct a top to bottom independent third party review of all the work done by Mead Indoor including the HVAC replacements to verify if the work met building code standards. Mead was paid approximately $175,000 for the work. The review was conducted by an ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) Instructor who works with building biologists throughout the country. Here are the findings: 6 Statute Violations - Class 2 Misdemeanors - Impersonating a contractor - Failure to hold General Contractor License - Unauthorized practice of heating contracting - Unauthorized practice of plumbing contracting - Unauthorized practice of electrical contracting 1 Statute Violation - Class 1 Misdemeanor - Failure to obtain Permit prior to beginning of work 16 Building Code violations - Class 3 Misdemeanors - Failure to air seal crawl space assemblies - Failure to provide required vapor retarder (no permeability rating) - Failure to provide proper grade and positive drain - Failure to install thermal insulation (floor or walls) - Failure to provide proper thermal insulation on crawl space access doors - Failure to perform room by room Manual J load calculation - Failure to Size Duct system in accordance with ACCA Manual D - Failure to leak test duct system - Failure to pass allowed total duct leakage (> 5 cfm) - Failure to provide supplemental heat lock out - Failure to install equipment in accordance with manufacturer's instructions - Failure to install hub drain and back-flow preventer - Failure to provide proper circuit protection - Failure to provide ground fault protection - Failure to provide proper service access to an appliance - Failure to provide sunroom with dedicated HVAC based upon temperature differentials No one should have any work done by Mead unless they can have it certified for correctness and completeness.

Great! The workers showed up earlier than expected, did not get my house dirty, cleaned up their work areas before they left, and all of the workers could speak English and give us answers about the job. These guys are good, the best we have every used! All the plumbing under our floor was changed from the gray pipe to CPVC. Workers removed and disposed of all gray pipe. They installed a new hot water heater, put a pan under it, and did a drain They installed a drain for our washing machine. They put a new needed vent on the plumbing for our washing machine (the old drain was too low to the floor and could not get proper air). A pan had been put under the washer and they plumbed a drain for that. They installed a new hose bib on the other side of the house ( there was only one on the back of the house). The replaced the vapor barrier properly, and had removed any insulation that was wet. They installed new water supply lines on every faucet in the house (12 faucets). They installed copper supply lines for our 2 showers. There was a team of 4 professional plumbers, who did this job in one day. This work was done in spring of 2017

Mold remediation is a serous business because mold is so dangerous.  It gets into the air we breathe, travels to organs and glands, and causes all kinds of serious illnesses, as it did in my case when I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2014 and found myself facing potential surgeries.  Hiring a company that knew what it was doing was paramount, as mold counts in our 1960s crawlspace and basement were TNTC, too numerous to count.  We needed something that would work?quickly, efficiently, and permanently.  In Mead Indoor, we found what we were looking for.  Guided by recommendations from my doctors, one of whom is the leading thyroid specialist in the Southeast (and whose own home had been remediated by Mead Indoor), I saw why they recommended this company.
Not only is its founder, Bill Meadows, a trained scientist, he is also certified in Bau-Biologie, based on German principles that address the connection between a healthy home and a healthy life. As Germany is the world leader in health, I was impressed by the disciplines that informed the comprehensive solutions Bill designed for our home. To my knowledge, there is no other mold remediation company in Georgia that is as well educated or that employs the clearly advanced technology that Mead Indoor uses.  My trust in this company was well placed:  two months after remediation, my thyroid returned to normal and all talk of surgery has ceased.
Before I close, I would like to add that Mead Indoor employees are highly skilled, deeply committed, and profoundly caring.  They are not workers plucked from a bus stop; they are experienced individuals who work with deep, quiet resolve, and the work they do is conscientious, fastidious, and impeccable.  When making a routine inspector of the work that Mead Indoor had done in our home, all the inspector could say was "Wow!"

It went great; the man who wrote the proposal for the job was very thorough, going under the floor and making many notes. There were no 'surprises' and no additional costs added as the work was done.  They finished right on time.
The workers were clean, friendly, and could all speak english.
We were very impressed with the carpenter, who not only did a good job replacing the floor, but made sure the washing machine hoses were installed correctly, and made sure the washer worked.
All the crew cleaned up behind themselves very well.
We paid half up front and half when the job was completed, as agreed.
The crew had a supervisor, but also another supervisor came to check on the job midway of the work.
We were very pleased with their work.

The mold spores in all the petri samples grew to a disgusting extent, which helped us decide to take further action. Since we were left with the impression from Bill that the costs of ridding our basement of mold contamination would be quite high, we sought the opinion of other services. Two HVAC companies chosen for their knowledge of environmental issues visited us and both concluded that most of the problem could be taken care of by installing a dehumidifier system, which we did. That has helped to reduce the mildew odors, but we may have to take another couple of steps. Bill called later to ask what we had done and reminded us that some basement insulation should be replaced. That is something we plan to take care of soon. He also gave us some advice us about an unrelated service we intend to do--add insulation to our 20-year-old attic. He said we should have the old insulation removed and the attic cleaned before adding new insulation. We were pleased to get that unsolicited advice.

We have used Mead for a long time for our regular maintenance, so when our entire system needed replacing, we used them to take care of it. We have always been pleased with their work, but be prepared, you will pay double, and sometimes triple what other contractors will charge. The trade off is you can be sure they will do it right. The owner is very knowledgeable about environmental concerns and sensitivities, so that is a bonus too.

Mead's inspector was very thorough and did some testing. His inspection of furnace convinced us to replace it, even though it was working fine. However, we were led to believe that the inspection would be free. The thoroughness of his inspection and time spent persuaded us to comply with his request for reimbursement. Our biggest complaint was his unwillingness to detail the costs of all the improvements he recommended, as well as the implied cost of replacing the furnace. We decided to ask HVAC companies to give their recommendations and chose to accept one of them to provide what seemed to be adequate solutions to our basement concerns.

Our basement flooded and it was kind of a slow flood, it was more like carpet soaking up water. And so what happened was we got into a mold issue. They do mold remediation in figuring out where the water's coming from. The first thing they did was to rip out all the bad carpet and find where the water was coming in. Then they did mold remediation, took the carpet that was decent, salvaged one room of carpet and then got the other room ready to tile. The next thing they did was they replaced my whole house drain,so that was happening outside. They can do just about anything that involves protecting your house from mold, and they do it with excellence and they quote your price. They're incredible. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. They put all my landscaping back together, he plants that died they replaced them and so they go above and beyond. The quality and the price go together.

My air conditioning unit seemed less effective than it should be and air passing through the outside unit seemed poorly dispersed upon leaving it. The Mead Indoor technician diagnosed the problem as accumulated dirt in the outdoor unit's condenser coil fins. He cleaned them thoroughly with a chemical and pressure water. He also showed me how to avoid the problem recurring. The air conditioner works better now.
I also was having trouble with my clothes dryer vent. It kept clogging. This is because it had been installed originally with a 1/4and quot; steel screen in it, presumably to keep critters out. The Mead technician cut out the steel screen and adjusted the outside flap so it closes properly when the dryer is not in use. The dryer works much better now and I won't have to keep cleaning lint off the steel mesh.
I have used Mead Indoor before and they have always done a great job. They do HVAC preventive maintenance for me twice a year. Knowledgeable, helpful technicians, fair pricing, accurate and honest assessment of what needs to be done, clean up afterwards, treat my home like their own. Wish all service providers were like them.

They were exceptional but pricey. They transformed this house from a moldy, an unhealthy environment to an extremely healthy and clean place. They were great. They are extremely professional. The owner is very particular. They are like super brainy engineer people who have figured out how to destroy these organisms and make the worst environment into a boisterous one. They were really good. They did a lot of work.

Because of severe allergies, I had Mead Indoor completely rebuild one HVAC system in our home, and totally replace the second one because of mold contamination. The on-site team (especially Dwayne and Chris) was absolutely incredible! They were the most professional, competent, careful, CLEAN, respectful, and helpful group of workers we've ever had in our house! It was a huge project, requiring more than two weeks. Because my husband and I both work out of our home, we were concerned about having people in the house for that long, but it wasn't an issue. The Mead team was very flexible and able to work around us, and they did everything they could to be completely unobtrusive. All in all, having the Mead guys in our home was a very positive experience. The results were amazing as well. The quality of our air is unbelievably better, and allergy symptoms have improved immeasurably. The bottom line is, if you want the best for your home environment....even if you don't have allergies....the ONLY company to call is Mead Indoor!

This company disappointed me a little. They gave me a price quote on the phone. Then they increased that quote by fifty dollars for a filter they said was free on the phone. It was one of those things where the office said one thing and the guys who came out said another. Based on that alone though, I do not feel I would use them again. I am a person who is always leaving positive feedback on AL for companies I use too so I was a little shocked to find this company did that with the pricing.
