Response from Blue Monkey Pressure Washing and Wood Care
The $99 deal only covered the [Member Information Removed] 1,500 square feet of an exterior house wash. Any square footage over over 1,500 sq ft is an additional charge. This is clearly [Member Information Removed] in the description of the deal and we always make sure to go over the parameters of the deal with our Angie's List customers before we begin any work. This home belonging to this member is a 3,300 sq ft home (it is listed on public record at this square footage and it's very obvious we you arrive that this home is double the size of the deal offered). I discussed with the homeowner that washing the additional square footage would come out to $.10/sq ft which is our special Angie's List customer pricing as opposed to our standard house wash pricing which is $.15/sq ft and $20 for each additional [Member Information Removed]. The homeowner was adamant that they did not want to pay anything over the flat $99 that they had already paid to Angie's List. I explained to them that we would respect their wishes and that they could just chose $99 worth of any of our services since their home did not meet the 1,500 square feet requirements. The homeowner asked if I could clean their large brick front entryway that included brick pillars, a retaining wall, huge wide steps leading up to the front door and the interior walls of their outdoor covered front entrance in addition to their front porch. (Just the brick entrance alone would have normally cost $100 and we charge anywhere from $.30-$.75/sq ft for decks based on the finish.) However, I agreed to this arrangement and began the work. While I was cleaning these areas, the customer also requested that I wash their 2 back decks as well. I not only had to walk through their home to access these back decks, I also had to remove and replace the deck furniture to complete the job. I feel like I not only went above and beyond for this customer, but I felt like they were trying to take advantage of a coupon deal by not agreeing to the terms of the original purchase and then by adding on multiple services while I was on their property. As far as the claim that I did not properly clean these areas, I used my expertise and experience (as I do on every job) to choose how much chemical and which chemicals to use on each surface if any. The decks only contained a light layer of atmospheric debris, therefore they only required a water wash. The entryway was made of brick and mortar and was visibly in need of a chemical wash. I performed an enormous amount of work for this customer. While I was there the customer and I had a very candid discussion of both personal and professional nature and I am honestly shocked at the content of their review. It is not reflective of the experience I vividly recall having with them. Not only did I leave feeling as if the customer was very satisfied (based on their in-person feedback), the neighbors were so impressed that I ended up going across the street following this appointment and completing a deck wash for them as well.
