The Hauling Men

During a recent storm, we had a tree come down at our church. It was chopped up and needed to be hauled away. We also had some other yard debris that needed to be removed. So, the Angie's List DEAL was very appealing. Initially, we'd called the contact on the coupon to schedule an appointment and was told someone would call back to schedule the appointment. We didn't get a return call. After a few weeks, we called again, but didn't make contact. Then, we sent an email via Angie's List and followed up with another call a few days later, finally connecting with someone. The hauler was very apologetic about the communication failure/delay. He informed us that our experience was not typical and he committed to taking good care of us. We scheduled service for the following Saturday morning. They showed up on-time and hauled off the load of yard debris.

They may have done a fair job but we could not get on the same page for them to do the job.

Overall, it went well. As we had purchased an Angie's coupon for the work, we had to set up a convenient time for the work to be performed, as the debris could have been more extensive than the coupon allowed for. In fact, we did end up owing an additional $40 for the haul.

They arrived as scheduled. They picked up the items in my house and garage very quickly. The person in charge was concerned about the paint cans with paint in them but said he would take care of them.

They were on time and friendly and hauled everything away quickly and efficiently. They were careful not to track in dirt.

It was for 1 pickup truck full of stuff. They showed up on time and were professional. I thought it was going to include a lot more things. I did not see the value of the Big Deal.

The team showed up a bit late, but I wasn't in a hurry and they called beforehand. When they arrived, they got right to work, and got all the stuff out of my basement that I've been wanting to disappear for a long time. Good service, and a family business with some good young men. Very pleased to see it all go!

I felt their specifications of how much they would take could have been clearer. They did a good job and they took what I wanted.

They came as scheduled and were done in very little time as they had a big truck which took all the junk I had to get rid of. They did a great job.

The Hauling Men responded promptly to my call to schedule pickup and removal of construction debris from a small bathroom remodel and other household junk outside my home. The owner and his crew arrived at my home early on a Saturday morning. The owner assessed what needed to be moved and he and his crew went to work. When they got to the old tile that had been removed from my 1950's bathroom, the owner realized how heavy it was and informed me that they usually charge more for removing that type of material. Nonetheless they continued working and I told him I would pay his price as I needed the material removed from my yard. When they finished, the owner advised that he would not assess the additional fee as he should have determined that prior to starting the work. I was grateful for the break and ended up giving a very generous tip as they were efficient and professional and all my junk was gone! I would definitely use them again and will definitely recommend this company to all who need something hauled away. Excellent!

Had some scheduling difficulties, apparently, their left hand and right hand don't always talk. I had to call that morning to confirm the appointment I'd made for 11am. They didn't have me on their schedule. They promised to come anyway. They finally arrived late afternoon. But, did what they said they would do, and did it quickly :) I'd use them again.

I was very disappointed with this company and this Angie's List deal. I was expecting the Hauling Men to provide a truck around the size of the ones used on the TV show Hoarders. To my surprise, they showed up in a pickup truck with a small platform trailer hooked up to the back. I knew the voucher was for 1/3 of the truck space, but I didn't realize the space would be so small. To make matters worse, the workers complained that they weren't supposed to have to walk to my basement to carry my items back to their truck for me. Not having used a hauling company before, I didn't realize they were expecting me to have already hauled everything to my driveway for them. They eventually agreed to bring a few of my items up from the basement, but were only able to fit a handful of them onto the small trailer. For $79, I could have rented a U-Haul and done it myself. Since I had purchased two of these "deals", I had the Hauling Men come back again a month later, and this time I hauled the stuff to my driveway myself before they arrived. Once again, the tiny trailer was already 2/3 filled, so they were only able to fit my mattress and a couple of small items on there. Such a waste of time and money.
