Two workers came and replaced the shingles by nailing the strip in place and caulking. The workers were polite and punctual and the work was performed to my satisfaction. This was a minor repair, but since I plan to replace the roof on my house this year, I decided to get to know the company through a small project. I first contacted the company via telephone and followed up with an email that detailed the work to be completed.
Description of Work: Replaced a strip of shingles that had blown off outbuilding on property.

Prompt response to my initial contact, great communication, quality work and generally fair price. Rehanging the exterior door may sound easy, but this was a tedious and difficult job which was handled with ease and professionalism. I would have to say the same about the tub/shower sliding glass door replacement. Our home is a Craftsmen bungalow built in 1920 and renovated in 1996. So - you guessed it - nothing is plumb. The workman from Intown Craftsmen was great - patient, thorough, courteous, and clean. Russ Melton (owner) was very easy to work with and extremely friendly. He correctly diagnosed the need for recaulking at the tub when I thought there might be a major leak somewhere. At the rental home in Marietta, the hot water replacement was also a difficult and tedious job done well. I was getting the house ready to rent so timeliness was very important and Intown came through beautifully. I would recommend them for these type projects.
Description of Work: Rehang exterior door correctly, replace shower sliding doors with bathtub sliding doors, recaulk tub and doors at our home ($65). At rental home, minor hardwood floor repair (hardwood provided), replace hot water heater, paint bedroom, hang light, recaulk shower/tub, install window lock ($2000).

I contacted Russ for an estimate and he came over the next day to review the list of repairs and work we wanted done. He even fixed the bi-fold door that was hanging crooked before he left. We had three estimates and Intown Craftsmen had the best price and Russ impressed me with his knowledge and suggestions. When we requested that Intown Craftsmen do the work, Russ advised what their availability was and advised they would probably be available after Thanksgiving. However, he had an opening before then and the job was started before Thanksgiving. We added a request while they were working and one repair, the water flow to the Kitchen sink, was more complicated then expected. He checked with us before doing any additional work and provided his recommendations so we could make our decisions. Russ and his crew were great, and even with the additional work all the jobs were completed in a timely and cost efficient manner. We would definitely hire this company again.
Description of Work: Pressure wash and seal Pergola; disassemble arch in yard; fix water flow to kitchen sink; install utility sink in laundry room; replace track for garbage can in cabinet; replace faucet.

Painter did a marvelous job. Previous owners had done a terrible job with the trim and baseboards -- this crew fixed everything up and every line looks sharp. My walls are very old plaster, so they came back for 2 (and in some spots 3) coats until it looked great. Couldn't be happier with the results.
Description of Work: Interior paint work on two rooms and a large hallway. Walls are old plaster and some additional patching work was done as well pre-painting.

I'm most happy with the re-finishing of the pocket doors. They had more damage than originally thought, but came out looking great.
Description of Work: Re-finished original pocket doors from 1920. They were in bad shape and they look almost new. Re-hung doors, installed roller guides, and re-trimmed the opening. Installed a beam in crawlspace under bedroom floor to correct the bouncing, sagging joists. Poured footers, used a laminate beam attached to the joists, and adjustable metal house jacks to support. Trimmed new replica door to fit into original, now unsquare door frame. Installed new hardware and hinges on door.

The project was estimated to be done in 4 to 6 weeks. Even with all of the additions we made it was completed in under 6 weeks. From the time Noah and Jason and their crew came on site, they were there every day until the work we contracted was completed. This job was done on a labor only basis. We provided all the materials needed, Windows doors, wood, siding, etc.
Description of Work: We found Russ of Intown Craftsman, on Angie's list. He provided us with an extensive labor only quote, which is what we requested. The house that we are restoring is an 1893 or older antique. We wanted someone to do the rough framing and structure in keeping with the feeling of the house. Someone with experiance, as we knew before hand that there would be many challenges integrating the old and the new space. The original quote was to replace a defective dormer, by demo, reframing, siding and adding windows, and adding two additional dormers, to reinforce the existing second floor - floor joists. create an awesome master suite on the entire second floor. The suite which was rough framed only includes a master bath, bedroom, closet walk thru area and large sitting area with walk in storage area. Also To remove the old stairs and put in rough stair stringers from the first to second floor. To remove the entire back wall of the house that was a 1970's addition, and replace it with new structure, adding windows and doors, To completely reside the new work with Hardi plank siding and trim. And to redeck the new areas of the first floor with sub flooring. The orginal quote was 15,600. We added additional work of doing a roughed in staircase to the basement with walls and door openings, decking and new walls and rot repair in another room including building out a new closet, , and a few other things that essentially added about 5000 to the project. Each addition was discussed and signed off on, so that at the end of the project there were no surprise bills. His pricing was extremely competitive when you consider the scope of this project.

Russ came in April to give us an estimate for various jobs around the house. Although several people came to give estimates, Russ was the only one to respond quickly. I did not do anything about it for several months. I emailed Russ when we were ready to complete the work and he had a crew at my house within a week. We were very pleased with the professional service.
Description of Work: The crew showed up on time on the morning we agreed upon. After reviewing the variety of jobs we needed completed, they went to work. It took 1 day and 2 half days to complete the work, in part because I needed to go to the antique hardware store to obtain some supplies that I wanted to personally select. I had a list of various jobs and they worked diligently through the list. Our list included things such as installing a door where there was none, shaving some of the other doors to clear the carpet, fixing a sagging door, and installing new smoke detectors. One jobs, stabilizing a shower curtain rod into the drywall around a freestanding tub, was especially challenging, because it needed to be strong enough to withstand my wild kids and still look nice. We were pleased with the results. Another job, repairing a roof leak, was also problematic since it was not obvious where the leak started. After taking some time to identify the problem, the roofer videotaped the area to show me what was causing the leak, and then speedily got it repaired. I had previously had another roofer look at it and they were just going to patch the valley, even though that was not the cause of the leak. Intown's owner, Russ, checked in after to make sure the work was completed to our satisfaction and has guaranteed the work for 24 months.

Needed a door repaired due to a break-in at a rental property. The estimate from Intown was below others I recieved and came directly from the owner of the company. Project was lsightly delayed, mostly due to my hectic schedule, but once we agreed on the scope and the price the job was done quickly and efficiently. Intown even offered to come back and make some adjustments that I requested outside the original scope of the project fre of charge. I've already decided I would work with them again on other projects at the rental. I usually prefer to oversee a project myself, but was unable to with current commitments and Intown handled everything so I didn't have to be there to "manage" the work. Very satisfied.

I contacted Russ Melton with Intown Craftsman and he got back to me promptly. I explained in detail my request. He said that Friday "would be great" and he was pretty busy but to let him know when I would be there. I replied that I could be available on Friday anytime up to 1 PM but after that probably not back til 5 PM. I further said that I did not expect him to schedule for a Saturday but if he could go over the work with me Friday then he could do it on his own schedule. I suggested that worst case maybe we could speak on the phone and gave him my numbers and all my contact information. I never heard a word back from him.

The owner very promptly came to look at our remodeling needs after making initial contact. He was very friendly and spent a good amount of time with us. We needed some of everything: windows, a new roof and gutters, complete kitchen remodel, rewiring, plumbing fixes, and more. Unfortunately, we were never able to obtain an estimate from him. He arrived on a Monday and promised the estimate by the weekend. The following week I called him and he promised to email it that evening. A few days later, I emailed him a reminder, and he replied he would send his estimate when he returned to his office. We could only conclude he was terribly busy and had too much work on his plate already to be able to do any work for us. We would have appreciated him saying so outright, rather than stringing us along.

I bought an old house that was built in 1920. The origial front door of the house had a large beveled glass. The door is in great shape and I was afraid of causing damage when installing a new, more secure, deadbolt. I used Angie's list to research handyman companies. I decided to use Intown Craftsmen because of the reasonable prices and professionalism. They did a wonderful job in a short amount of time and even cleaned up afterward. I will use them again and recommend their services to friends and family.

The main contractor on this project - Ben - was very easy to work with as this project was designed by owner and required flexibility on everyone's part. The smallness of the addition, which will be used as an efficiency apartment, required very careful attention to detail as inches mattered and this was something that Ben understood and was conscientious about with his workers. The workers showed up as scheduled and were responsive to my requests and suggestions. All seemed to take pride in their work. The work started as scheduled and Ben was excellent at having the necessary supplies and equipment available as needed so that the project could move forward as scheduled every day. The work done by Intown Craftsmen was completed very close to the estimated time of completion that was discussed at the beginning of the project. Intown Craftsmen did not complete the project totally as funds were not sufficient for that but that was known from the beginning of this project. Finishing work is being completed by family members and owner.
Description of Work: Small addition to existing structure which included grading, framing, roofing, insulation, sheetrock, repair work to existing building necessary during addition process, removal of 3 windows and necessary remodeling of existing space. Changed one window to a door, closed up second window third window reduced from full window to half window. Upgraded AC to existing structure and moved exterior AC unit. Custom roofing and ventilation design to accommodate small space and to to reduce possible humidity issues. Construction of very small bathroom with custom design features. Electrical work for addition. Plumbing work for addition. Gutter work to existing structure and addition. Drainage added to accommodate addition. Exterior concrete work for steps to addition. New roof and floor refinishing to main structure.

I was very excited to have Intown Crafstmen give me an estimate for some work on my house. This was my first time contacting a company referred by many on Angie's List. Initially when I called for an estimate, Russ was very pleasant and professional on the phone. However, when we had set up a time for an estimate, he did not show. I attempted to call him 30 minutes after our scheduled time, and there was no answer. I left a voicemail wondering what the status was, and stating my disappointment. He did call the next day and say he "forgot" and that he had no excuse. He said he did not write our appointment down in his planner. While I appreciate his honesty, I do not appreciate the way he handles his business or potential business. I guess a potential customer is not important enough to him to follow through. If this is the energy and follow-through he gives to customers he is trying to get, I would not want to see the energy he puts forth once he has a customer. I am pretty disappointed.

They would cleanup every day after themselves. He called me when there was a question and asked my opinion. He was just very professional.

outstanding; when I called the owner, he offered to come by for an estimate the next day. I had already talked with two other companies - while they were professional and helpful by phone, they did not offer to take a look. since my screens were a little unusual I was afraid to use their price over the phone. Russ came by and suggested a good method. Installed them the next week to suit my schedule. The screens were great. I was not 100% happy with the clean up job - they got paint specs on the floor and siding. He sent his guy back the next day to take care of it. He came again to review the work and then offered to deduct some $$ from my bill.
