Description of Work: Brent and his crew, Jodi and Marty, came to the job prepared and immediately went to work. Brent kept me informed on every aspect of the job to include expected completion date. Except for short lunch break Brent and his crew worked until the job was completed and I was totally satisfied. Since I had to have gutters replaced, Brent coordinated with the installer to ensure that it was ready to complete the project. Brent and his crew repaired all of the damaged fascia, soffit and other minor repairs around the exterior of our house. Brent and crew did a super job with particular attention to detail. When completed, they cleaned up and the job cost less than expected. I was so impressed with the fine work, I asked for a price on painting the house. At the same time, I got a quote from another company. Brent gave me a better price and with paint included, he was able to complete the project at a substantial savings. I has other minor work done such as replace outside floodlights and repair an interior door. All of the work was done to my satisfaction

Description of Work: I'll be moving out of state soon, so I called on Brent again to help with lots of little things to get my house ready to sell. He and his co-worker, Jody, spent about a day and a half taking care of roughly two dozen chores, mostly minor, as well as two plumbing issues and repairing two pieces of furniture. They also cleaned my gutters. Most importantly, they determined that my water heater was leaking and took care of replacing it, saving me enormous hassle and grief. As always, Brent additionally gave me great advice on a few other issues. (The $916 I paid was for parts and labor, by the way.)

 + 0 moreMy husband was trying to install a new lock for our front door, but ran into a snag that didn't allow him to finish the job. We called the company, thoroughly expecting to pay an exorbitant amount because it was the weekend. I spoke to the owner, Mr. Mcurdy, and he was extremely pleasant on the phone. After explaing the situation, he stated that he didn't feel comfortable charging us his usual $75 fee and suggested a fee well below what we expected. He agreed to meet us at a designated time, and arrived promptly at that time. He looked at our lock, suggested a solution, and charged a minimal fee, which we didn't mind paying because of his time and travel expenses. The suggestion he have us enabled my husband to complete the job. We will definitely keep him on our favorites list for future jobs!
Description of Work: The ownder of the company came out and assessed our situation, offering helpful advice that allowed us to finish the job we started sucessfully.

 + 0 moreWe had tried once before to get two leaks in the roof repaired. We found Total Home Repair well reviewed on Angies, so gave him a try. He said he was able to repair the roof and repair and paint the ceilings. When working on one ceiling, he triggered the smoke alarm and had to disable it. We asked if he could come back to build a new enclosure of the chimney on the roof. He said he would return with an estimate for that. After he left, we realized that the smoke alarm light had been left on. Less than a year later, the ceilings are damaged again because the roof repairs were not done adequately. We hired someone else to come repair the roof again. The ceilings need to be painted again. He never returned to give an estimate for further work, either. I am surprised that the reviews on Angie's List have been excellent for this company. We were very disappointed.
Description of Work: Roof needed repairs, ceilings needed repair and painting.

Description of Work: Brent was very punctual. He fixed several things for me: window latch, door hinge, hung long window rod, removed old caulk in shower and replaced with fresh caulk, estimated costs for future home improvement such as insulation, adding shoe molding and kitchen backsplash.

Brent is very professional, knowledgeable, detail oriented, environmentally conscious, and tries to save money for the customer in every step of the process, while not cutting corners (how refreshing!). His crew worked very efficiently and professionally. I have an older home and the results of their work are fantastic! My neighbors are going to hire them as well.
Description of Work: Brent McCurdy and company pressure-washed my house, replaced all of the rotted wood around the house's exterior, reglazed my old windows, and painted all of the wood surfaces. They also washed/painted the deck. While Brent and his crew were working on the exterior of my house, the water heater gave out. Brent picked a new one up at Home Depot and installed it for me.

Description of Work: Our master bath began leaking into our dining room ceiling New Year's Day. Brent returned our call and was out early the next morning to cut a hole in the ceiling and repair the supply line to the tub.

He was prompt and courteous and also showed up on time for the estimate as well as the day the job was going to be completed. He did all the work himself and I am very pleased. I will definitely be calling upon Brent for the additional projects that we want completed in our new home.
Description of Work: We hired Brent to seal the backsplash tile in our kitchen, as well as regrouting/sealing areas of the master shower. We also recently had new carpet installed and needed the bottoms of 8 doors trimmed down.

 + -1 moreThey remodeled our basement. They took down some old wood paneling and put sheetrock up. They also put in some new lights. They did some electrical work for few outlets. The work took two months to complete. They came out to work everyday. We had a water problem in the basement. It required a great deal of innovation and diligence. They thought out of the box and fixed the problem. In fact, they had to think out of the box for a number of different aspects of this project. They did an excellent job. Initially, we were really impressed when we spoke to the owner. They were very cost effective. I got several estimates from other companies. Since, the work was done in the basement and outdoors, we weren?t inconvenienced. We are planning to use them again in the future, for remodeling a family room. We?d recommend them highly.
Description of Work: We used Total Home Repair for remodeling. They did a lot of work for us. They installed an outdoor, built-in deck. They also renovated a basement recreation room. They put up sheetrock and lights. They also did some work to solve the water problem in our basement. They did all the work, two months ago.

Instead, he just looked at the pipe and told me that he could get to it in about a month. As he was walking out of the door, he said that I needed to give him $20. I asked him what it was for and he replied that it was for the gas that he spent coming to my house. Prior to this, there had not been any discussion about him charging me for an estimate or for gas expenses. It has now been about 2 months and I haven't heard a word.

 + 1 moreThe job began on a Tuesday and finished on the following Monday even with 1 1/2 days rain delay. Mr. McCurdy was very professional and kept in touch the whole way through the project. I especially appreciated recieving "undivided" attention as he only works on one project at a time. The wait was well worth the service I received in return.
Description of Work: We had an aweful porch/front overhang installed a couple of years back and it was beginning to decay plus we were never pleased with the "look". Mr. McCurdy came in and made suggestions for a nicer door pediment that would blend in with the rest of the neighborhood. The old structure was torn down and the new one was built exactly as agreed upon. The previous structure had wooden posts embedded in cement. After removing the posts he re-cemented the porch area making it smooth and consistent. The overall look is immaculate.

I was anxious about the leaky faucet, which was leaking more each day, but agreed to wait for 5 days until he could work me into his schedule. He was able to fix things 3 days early and at a lower price than his estimate, despite having to go to the local hardware store to find parts. He and his helper were professional, efficient and did exactly what I asked for, without trying to increase the scope of the jobs.

 + -1 moreI can't say enough about Brent McCurdy and the mighty duo of Marti and Daniel. The transformation in my home is simply staggering. We started with a budget of $6000 for Labor and $4000 for materials. When Brent informed me that he would come in significantly under budget, I simply increased his task list and once on a roll, ultimately increased the budget to $7500 for Labor and $4500 for materials. Once he starts your job, he doesn't leave unless it was scheduled ahead of you and he informs you that his crew was scheduled elsewhere. Over the course of 17 days, he took a ramshackle, neglected house and turned it into a home, ever watchful for items that pose safety hazards. In my case, a dryer cord and outlet clearly close to catching fire and a gas leak behind the stove. He is a true craftsman, correcting poor workmanship done a year ago by someone without his integrity and attention to detail. I will use him again in the fall for siding, windows and doors, then again next spring for additional interior upgrades that will add even more sparkle to the home I am finally proud to own.

Description of Work: Brent took out our old bathtub and built a new tiled shower stall. Brent removed the old tub and hauled it away and then rebuilt the walls, repaired and replaced plumbing and tiled the new shower. Our house is 45 years old and the plumbing had never been updated. They are good people, trustworthy, who are grateful for work and love what they do. They didn't overcharge and actually taught us a few things about the work they were doing....assuring us that in the future we might consider doing some of it on our own. We really liked them and would recommend them to anyone and look forward to doing more work with them.
Description of Work: We were moving and had a very tight deadline. We were having a time trying to find a handyman/woman that could do the job and put us at ease. Bathrooms needing to be caulked, one needed to be repaired for extensive water damage around bathtub. Baseboards needed to be replaced, new splash guard put up. Ceiling fan taken out, and new light installed in its place. Take old stove (Drop in electrical range) out making room for new stove and a number of other little things.

We had three projects for him and a fourth one that he easily handled when we asked him if he could include it into the mix. He knew what he was doing, yet thought things out while he was working, indicating total focus and attention on his work in our house. He cared about our house and our environment as much as we do. His work and craftsmanship are now a part of our house as we continue to make our house the beautiful home we have envisioned. Brent is very busy so it takes awhile to be put onto his schedule, but once the date is set he shows up and finishes the work. We highly recommend Brent for his skill, knowledge, expertise and definitely his craftsmanship and pride in his work. We will use him again.

 + -1 moreI had a recurring problem with squirrels. Brent came into the house and determined where they were entering then put a one-way exit trap over the area. Once they were out of the house he came back and sealed and painted the area good as new. I have used him for other general contracting, he is fair, reliable, honest and affordable. Whenever possible I will use him for my home maintenance and repairs. My only issue is that he doesn't take credit cards (in order to keep his costs down perhaps?).

Brent was very accommodating with our schedule as he also had some work to be done in the vicinity. He had to reschedule the work due to other circumstances, but only by one day and it was no problem for us. Brent was terrific and I will definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreIt's such a huge relief to have finally found someone honest and trustworthy, who not only knows his "stuff" but also gives wonderful advice. He gave me a better option on one project that will save me money, rather than keeping the job for himself. Also, I wanted my front porch screened in, and as always Brent said he would do whatever I wanted, but he then pointed out various factors I had not considered. Brent is always prompt and calls when he says he will. He truly lives by the Golden Rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. And he is accommodating in terms of my schedule. I call him The Master Of The Universe, and I hope to use him again many, many times in years to come, for projects both large and small. THANK YOU, BRENT!!! P.S. Description of Work: Brent has been out to help me twice so far. He has moved heavy furniture, made extensive electrical repairs, installed outdoor lights and a security lock, and done some minor carpentry. Also, he purchased materials I needed including a new porch light (reimbursement costs not included above). He discovered damage from squirrels getting into my attic and has a plan to fix that on his next visit.
