I have used them a couple of times in the past. This was the third time that I used them. They are punctual, the guy who comes to my house is the same guy. He was nice, he explained everything to me, and there were no surprises. The machine has been working good. I never have a complaint. The price is pretty good. I compared it to other companies, and they are pretty good. They are worth it.  They make sure I have a slot when I call them, and they come in on time.

All the techs are very polite and very professional. They are knowledgeable and well experienced. Enjoyed having both Shane and Robert in my home, both different visits. They didn't mind answering my questions... ALL my questions. I felt that my appointment for that day is the most important one. The company offers/gives many options with finance.

I was pleased with their service. They are familiar with our community because we do have a very unique system that uses fresh water. They have installed several systems in our area and I have actually given recommendations to others based on the work that they've done.

I was able to get their service paid for by my home owners insurance. Their prices are reasonable, especially for the high quality of their work, and clean up after themselves. I liked that they are friendly, give me fair advice and make sure that I am not over purchasing, and are on time. Overall, I have been very happy with them and their estimates are always spot on.

The Technician (Shane) arrived on time, and performed the work in a highly professional manner. He wore paper booties for his shoes without being asked. He was very friendly but also very professional. He repaired the faulty system quickly, and described (visually and orally) what was wrong and what he did to effect the repairs. He provided some simple homeowner maintenance tips and identified things to watch for that would extend the mean time between failure of my system. He gave me some guidance on some additions that I had been thinking about for my system .... some he recommended that I follow-up on and some he suggested that might not provide the desired return on such a investment. In summary I would describe Shane as a "man's man" and a "lady's gentleman". And South Air I would describe as a highly professional and business like organization. I'll be recommending them to my daughter for her home.

As requested today, here is my experience with This company did contract work for our home warranty company. We had major A/C problems and South Air was sent out by our home warranty company. Our home was only four years old when we purchased it. We had just been in our home for a month when this happened. Our 1st floor a/c unit was no longer cooling, Our upstairs duct work was full of water and was running out our return vents. This was due to the upstairs unit working overtime trying to cool the entire house. South Air came out and we were to pay them a $35 copay. The A/C tech stated we needed a new compressor, he turned the upstairs unit which was in the attic off to prevent anymore water from running into our duct work and he would have to go to his shop and call our home warranty company to get approval to get a new compressor. He called a couple of hours later and said he was still waiting to hear back from our home warranty company. But he could come back out and shop vac the water out of our duct work for $200. and order the compressor. We had a shop vac so we declined that service but upon entering our attic discovered that the A/C tech had sliced open our duct work. By noon the next day no one had called from South Air. So I called them, I was told by the Receptionist someone would have to call me back. It was friday and no one called us back. Monday came and by noon no return call so I called, was told the same thing, someone would call us back. This went on for several days. I continued to call everyday at noon until I finally got the Receptionist to help. We were told they had just got the ok from the home warranty company to proceed. The part was on order. 15 days later still NO A/C. Was 100 degrees in our home.We went out and purchased a portable A/C for the first floor and had to seal off most of the downstairs with tarps. We managed to get the den where the stairs going to the second floor were and the kitchen to 76 degrees and was finally able to run the upstairs a/c without flooding the duct work. We contacted our home warranty company and they called South Air for us. Then we got a call from South Air apologizing for their behavior. The employee said "We are sorry, we dropped the ball." Then the ultimate happened. We were told the following stories. We have the PART IN HAND and we can get you COOL today for $350. We stated that the warranty company had agreed to pay for 100% of all cost over our $35 copay because we had just purchased our home. They disagreed with this and said they did not believe it. So the home warranty company faxed South Air the approval and a statement that they were paying 100% of the cost. So after an hour of waiting to hear South Air's reply to approval, I called and South Air told me, the home warranty company were liars and didn't pay their bills. Then they told me they DID NOT have the part yet but that it was on its way and for $350 the could fix it "today". Once again they tried to get $350 assuming I guess we were desperate and hot! I called the home warranty company back and told them what South Air said. This is what we were told at this point, South Air will not be coming out. Do not give them any money. They do not order the parts, we do. There have been no parts ordered. We will be sending another company out. This is the kicker, when the other company came, I walked them out to our unit. It was at this time, I was shown the nuts and bolts laying from our 1st floor unit were on the ground. The electrical comparator had been taken out and was nowhere to be found. Without it the unit could not turn on. So the tech used the Capacitor from the other unit. Our units were Tranes and they were discontinued models. You could not order another compressor for the unit. I checked South Air out with the BBB which at that time stated issues related to. Their is a contradiction as to how many years South Air has been in business. The review I read dated 11/3/2008 states the consumer has been doing business with South Air for 6 years. However their BBB profile states their Original Business Start Date: January 2004 and their Incorporated: February 2004, GA. They are not a BBB accredited business. But check out their profile.Their MANTA profile says they have been in business for 2 years. I can tell you after dealing with them, the only solution is not to use them. Diagnosed why the downstairs unit didn't work and the reason upstairs unit condensation was overflowing into duct work and running out our returns. They caused damage to duct work and stole parts off our a/c unit. I would be willing to raise my right hand and swear that the events I describe happened. I would take a polygraph if I needed to.
Response from SOUTH AIR INC
"You are not and never will be a customer of South Air inc. You are a customer of the home warranty you chose to buy. We can only do what are in the guidelines of your warranty company since they are paying the bill. You also marked the survey as the work was done by us, obviously it was not. As far as how long we have been in business you are all wrong again. I am sorry that this has happened to you but maybe you should take it up with the people who set the guidelines for repair on your ac, your home warranty company."

We have been using them for 6 years. There is nothing bad to say about them. The owner is very nice. They have always been loyal and are a very good family owned business. They are reasonably priced and never take advantage of the customer.
