Mr. Casey is obviously a very experienced house mover and the actual move went well. The house was difficult due to it's age and positioning and he moved it successfully with no significant damage. The work crew worked very diligently (especially the foreman) and put in long hours working on the move. The initial estimated time frame was 3-5 days to perform the move. It took over a month and we were out of most of our utilities for around 5 weeks. There were a number of reasons for missing the time frame so badly and many of them were valid. Extra precautions and bracing were needed to prevent damage to the house. I'm all for that. The problem was with communication and having the resources on site. The crew did not show up at all until a week after the utilities were turned off and work was scheduled to start. Not only did they not show up but there were no calls or explanations until I called each day to ask why they were not there. Various excuses were presented about equipment failures or workers oversleeping. I asked Mr. Casey to be better about communication but that never improved. We exchanged words on more than one occasion and I almost fired People's Choice several times. However, it is hard to do that as some work had been done and there are a very limited number of house movers out there. After a particularly contentious argument, Mr. Casey told me that he couldn't tell me when he would be done and not to ask again. It was incredibly frustrating because we could not schedule any of the other contractors without a finish date for the move. Mr. Casey was very rude and unprofessional throughout the process. We did finally get the house moved successfully but the process was frustrating and more costly than it should have been (additional hotel and other costs associated with being displaced). We did find out that Mr. Casey was suffering from health problems which probably aggravated the situation. If he had been communicative and professional, this would have been a much different review.
Description of Work: Physically moved a 100+ year old house about 600 feet back on my property.
