It took a little longer to get started than we expected (few months from first contact to starting work) and a little longer for the actual project (about 5 weeks) than we expected, but we were first time renovators and really had no idea how much work would be involved. I was a little skeptical of how this would all turn out, but was extremely happy and pleasantly surprised at how nice everything looked. Gregorio is one of the hardest-working people I have ever encountered and Barbaro was very diligent in communicating their daily progress. They cleaned up as neatly as could be expected each day after finishing. The only variation from the contract price to what we actually paid was due to a minor issue with the subflooring that could not have been anticipated.
Description of Work: Complete demo and renovation of master bathroom. Barbaro, Gregorio, and their folks took a tiny, 50's era, unusable bathroom and made it beautiful, modern, and spacious. A small linen closet and hallway closet abutting the bathroom were demolished to add room. The bathroom was further expanded into the existing master bedroom closet, which was moved and re-built into an adjacent bedroom closet. ALS then built a new closet into the adjacent bedroom, finished, and repainted both bedrooms.

They did a really good job, he stayed in contact with me throughout the entire process. I previously interviewed several contractors and he was one of the only ones to put everything in writing. He was absolutely awesome.

In the beginning, we had a extremely rough start. One of the project managers, John, came out to our house and gave us a quote on all of the work we wanted completed. He gave us a quote only to call us 2 weeks later and tell us that it would cost more. We were extremely upset. We contacted the owner, Barbaro, directly and he took over the job and handled everything perfectly. We ended up staying on budget and they even finished all of the work a day early. We were extremely pleased with the outcome and everything looks fantastic.
Description of Work: Adapted living spaces refinished our hardwood floors, tiled a mudroom, replaced carpet in our den and 2 bedrooms, as well as remove a door and sheet rock.

The experience was pleasant from beginning to end. Barbaro, the owner, was professional and knowledgeable. He was responsive to requests and accommodating of the needs of a family home. The workers were also friendly and responsible. The workspace was cleaned daily. Schedules were kept and changes were incorporated easily. The resulting renovations look good and work well. I wholeheartedly recommend Adapted Living Spaces.
Description of Work: ALS demolished the wall tile in the kitchen and the wall and floor tiles in the bathroom. Then they installed subway tile with small, elegant grout lines that brightened up the space. Porcelain tile was installed on the walls around the bathtub along with accent features and a grab bar. The bathroom floor was replaced with practical vinyl.

I didn't hire them, they just came in and did an estimate. We had a flood upstairs and it ruined some floors upstairs, downstairs, and the walls. We needed it redone. So, we got him to do an estimate on everything. We are going to replace all the floor into the house. Do the carpet and do laminate. It was quite a lot of work. There are different rooms being done, but we didn't end up with them because they were just confused with the estimates was being done. If we ask a laminate they give us a price on carpet. Their pricing is kind of high compared to the other estimates we've had. They were really nice when they came out. One thing that stuck in my head was the price on moving and resetting furniture per room. I have seen through the estimate that the prices were on the top end of most peoples prices and then there was a reset fee, some rooms were a 120 bucks or a little more and I thought that was really ridiculous. Their responsiveness was fine.
Description of Work: Adapted Living Spaces gave me an estimate for a flooring and a drywall.

I have read your review and would appreciate the opportunity to comment. We did have to revise the estimate as there were some mistakes in the original. I was glad to do that and submitted to you a revised quote on approximately July 6, 2012. My notes reflect that there were a great deal of boxes and furniture in each room. The estimate for the cost of moving these items out so that people would be able to do the work is reasonable given the amount that had to be done. When movers are hired, they normally charge approximately $65 an hour. In order for my workers to do the job they would have had to spend at least an hour just to move the boxes and furniture out of the room. Subsequently, they would have moved them back to where they were so that work could be done on another room. I would have been glad to discuss any issue with you. My notes reflect though that I did not hear anything from you since the time I sent you the second estimate. I do apologize for the original errors and would be glad to work with you. Please note that it is unusual for this type of mistake to occur. I hope all is well and appreciate having the opportunity to respond. Thank you. Barbaro Ponce Adapted Living Spaces

Barbaro and his team did a great job. They were professional and conscientious. We had no problem trusting them to be in our home while we were at work. They were even willing to work over two weekends to complete the job on time. I would definitely use them for another home improvement project.
Description of Work: We had our shower replaced, re-tiled and our bathroom floor re-tiled. During the demolition stage, Barbaro also discovered that the sub-flooring and a wall had rotted and needed to be replaced.

We love this company!!! As Adapted Living Spaces did not do small jobs the owner gave us the name of his cabinet builder and told us to go directly to him, which we did. Adapted Living Spaces, however, continued to oversee the project. Their associate was personable and professional and was here to oversee the actual work. The work was done by the company GORDON CUSTOM CABINETRY, INC. located in Buford, Georgia. This company could not have been greater. The owner, Bryan Gordon was professional, gave us good advice and the cabinets were designed, created and installed by his associates. The price was reasonable. We are delighted with the results. We would recommend Adapted Living Spaces and Gordon Custom Cabinetry to anyone The price also .included a 10% Angie's List discount as they had advertised. I did not even have to ask for it, they just included it. How great is that!

My husband and I needed to rebuild our sunroom which was barely insulated and had a serious water leak. In the winter the room was very cold and in the summer extremely hot which caused our energy bills to be very high. I contacted Adapted Living Spaces for an estimate. There was a slight delay in getting the estimate due to fault of the Sales Person, however once the owner (Barbaro) was made aware of the incident, it was quickly resolved. The estimate and contract was drafted quickly, with minor negotiations on the contract, we had a start date. Every day from May 24 - June 14, Adapted Living Spaces showed up on time, was very professional, worked diligently, and left the work area very neat. Barbaro consistently kept my husband and I up to date on the schedule of events for the week in advance either by email or a simple phone call. There were no surprises. Since we were remodeling an older home, we ran into surprises, which were quickly resolved with Barbaro's experience. As mentioned above, our project entailed of breaking down the existing breakfast room, rebuilding the frame, installing three windows, an LVL Support Beam to secure our roof, adding insulation, sheet rock and painting the interior. ALS installed floating hardwood floors throughout the breakfast room, kitchen, and den area. The exterior of the room has a stucco finish with a new roof and gutters. THE ROOM IS BEAUTIFUL! My house is cooler, and we are truly enjoying the room. Thank you ALS for a job well done. A.S.

We were quite pleased with the work done by Adapted Living Spaces. This company has a special interest and expertise in remodeling to provide handicap access, but they also do general contracting work such as this. A very important aspect to us was the integrity and reliability of the contractor, and Barbaro Ponce met and even exceeded our expectations in that regard. He provided a detailed estimate of the project and was very willing to work with us in making modifications and adjustments as needed. We were concerned about the possibility of having work start with demolition of several areas only to have the crew disappear for days or weeks at a time. Barbaro assured us that he never worked that way, and he proved to be a man of his word. He provided a firm start date, which he met, and from that point forward not only was his work crew on hand every day, but Barbaro himself was usually present during much of the day to address any issues and to assure that all went well. He kept us well-informed of progress and any potential concerns, and even provided verbally or by email the time at which he expected to arrive for the next days work. Barbaro's crew were skilled and efficient workers, and his subcontractors including electricians and plumbers were similarly reliable and excellent people to work with. The site was carefully cleaned at the end of each days work. This project was completed ahead of schedule. On the final walkthrough, we raised only a very few, minor issues that Barbara immediately addressed. We enjoyed working with Barbaro and his company, and we are very pleased with the work that was done. We would certainly recommend him for any sort of contracting work such as this.
Description of Work: Built an expanded pantry and laundry room off of the kitchen, enlarged and remodeled an upstairs bathroom, installed new countertop, tile flooring, and backsplash and repainted the cabinets in the kitchen, installed new cabinets in two bathrooms and tiled the floors. Recarpeted two rooms.

The job went perfect! Barbaro and his crew showed up exactly as scheduled, finished the job on time and on budget. It looks great! From the the very onset of the project I was impressed. This started with Barbaro showing up quickly and on time for the initial estimate. I can't tell you how many other contractors that I had contacted that showed up late for the initial appointment or did not show up at all. It was very frustrating. Then I contacted Barbaro and things went very smoothly. His initial professionalism, promptness and attention to detail when we were scoping out the details of the job were what sold me on his company. He is also a pleasure to talk with. Very courteous and friendly. All in all everything turned out exactly how I wanted it, right down to the very last detail. Oh, and Excellent tile work!!
Description of Work: I am doing a general remodel of my home. I opened up the common areas of the house (Kitchen, living room and dining room). This involved removing some walls and moving a doorway. I also had drywall installed over existing tongue and groove paneling and the old flooring in the kitchen taken up and replaced with porcelain tile.

It was great. They were very upfront about how long everything would take. They were very diligent about their clean up and doing everything so there wasn’t grout everywhere. Everyone he brought to work was very good at their job. He only used top notch people and he watched over them to make sure they paid attention to detail.
Description of Work: They did a lot of things. We had a landscaping room off our garage. They blew that out and moved the laundry to that room. They tiled the floor and created an office space for me. They tiled my bathroom and a jack and jill suite we had.

Follow up work done report: Removal of existing tile in foyer, hall and kitchen, and installation of new tile in the same areas. The job took a total of two weeks, due to only one tile craftsman performing all the demolition and new tiling work, but it was very well done.
