The experience was excellent overall. The technician was terrific; he was very personable and good at what he did. Their price was reasonable. In fact, we’ve called them again to do work at another home that we have. It was a good fit!

The experience was very good overall. I didn’t compare the price, but it seemed fair. The technicians were prompt, very neat, and cleaned up everything well. They did a great job explaining what the situation was, and gave us options as to what to do. They didn’t push anything and just offered other suggestions. We haven’t had any problems.

The experience has been wonderful overall. They’ve been very reliable, but busy. I’d suggest planning in advance. We use them all the time!

Service was excellent. Three person crew arrived at the time agreed. Worked non-stop until the service was completed. Cleaned up at job completion and took all trash and used cleaning material with them. Asked if I or my spouse had questions, thanked us for the business prior to leaving. Better experience than I had expected. Would not hesitate to use or recommend Mad Hatter Service again.

The workers were good and very professional. It seemed like they knew what they were doing. They did a pretty good job. I didn't have any problems or complications.

They were not only on time, but they called and asked if they could come a little early, which was great for me. From what I could tell, they did a thorough job.They were courteous, friendly, and very professional.

Efficient and professional...showed up on time, respectful of our house, our dog, and our kids. Did a through job, didn't try to sell us anything, didn't try to scare us into "fixing" or "removing mold" or any crazy thing. LOVED these guys. Will absolutely use them again. When we save up for our new gas fireplace...will have them out to do the install because I know it'll get done safely and quickly!

The work turned out fine. They were very pleasant.

Mad Hatter gets good ratings for chimney inspections, but do not undertake major repairs witihout getting inspections and estimates from other companies.

Tech was very professional & knowledgeable, as was the individual who scheduled the appointment. I paid the price I was quoted - no upsell. He even told me than an annual inspection was unnecessary so long as there were no problems. My only complaint was with the price. Although I paid exactly what I was quoted, they did less work than I expected for the large amount. He was done in an hour, and that included completely cleaning out the box, replacing the ember material and resetting up the logs that I had totally messed up. My unit had absolutely no problems - no gas leak, no other issues, etc. so the inspection really only took 15 minutes. Honestly, if he had just taken his time a bit more and stretched it out to an hour and a half, I wouldn't be complaining at all! It just seemed a very steep price for such a simple task but again, I paid exactly what I was quoted.

they came out within 24 hours. the 2 men were very professional and polite. They offered me a sizable discount because I had just replaced some of the duct work upstairs.

The first time they came, one gentleman showed up and said he could not get up on our roof by himself as it was too steep. Several other individuals had done it alone, so I was not totally convinced but understood the safety concern, so I paid him $75 and he said they would reschedule for another time. The second time two gentlemen showed up, but it started to sprinkle a bit. By this time there was a tarp on my chimney to cover the leaks. Rather than wait it out (the rain stopped about 10 min later and it was clear for the rest of the day) they said they couldn't remove the tarp to inspect the chimney due to the rain and recommended a $500 water test as a next step and left. Needless to say, I did not proceed with their test - if they didn't do any work for my $75 do they really think I'd trust them with $500? I am just mad at myself for not calling the manager and demanding my $75 back, but at the time I was more concerned with finding a reliable and trustworthy company to do the work, which I ultimately did and was very pleased with the results (without a water test, by the way!) I do NOT recommend this company for stucco/chimney repair work.

Mad Hatter office made courtesy call to advise their two man crew would arrive a bit after scheduled time. The crew confirmed the number of duct openings as per the quoted price and began setting up protective measures to avoid soiling/damaging flooring. We were present during the entire process. The crew worked efficiently and completed the job within the time quoted. They were courteous and answered all of our questions as they showed us what they were doing. They also made a recommendation for filter upgrades we could do ourselves. The crew cleaned up the minor bit of debris that fell from the duct openings and did not damage the interior of our home. Very professional.

Did a good job of identifying the issue, calling to keep me informed of scheduling and progress, showing up on time, and completing the work.

They were awful. In the end, I had to have someone else come out and re-inspect the chimney. I felt like they were doing a major up-sale on me. It cost me a lot of money to have my chimney clean, there were no repairs made. He cleaned the chimney two or three times and then started telling me that it was broken and that I needed to spend $1000. It was not cool the way the man was. I felt like I was taken advantage of. I would never hire them again or give them a recommendation. They were punctual.

The chimney sweep was fine (if a bit overpriced) but the trouble began when I was informed of the $2,450 in "necessary" charges that needed to be performed, including a new damper, new chimney cap, new gas grate, and interior coating. I am not a chimney expert by any means, but in asking a host of follow up questions, their responses left no room for doubt that the vast majority of the repairs needed to be completed if I wanted to use the chimney. Most notably, I absolutely needed a new cap and the damper which was, in their words, broken and unusable. As I was not prepared to spend that kind of money, I simply didn't use the fireplace and decided to seek a second opinion from LM Richardson. Without going into detail on the service (it was terrific), he fixed our "broken and unusable" damper in two minutes. It was simply off-track. Old, but very much still usable. He said it was an obvious problem and said it was improbable that Mad Hatter didn't realize it was simply off-track. So here's the heart of my beef with Mad Hatter. They charged me $250 to come out and told me my damper was broken, unfixable, and they needed $1,200 to fix it ($2,450 in total) because it was stuck half open. I didn't want to spend the money, so I let a good portion of the winter pass with an open damper (wasting money on escaping heat). Yet LM Richardson came out, in two minutes and determined it was simply off-track and perfectly usable (code issues with the internal chimney coating aside). I feel that at best, the Mad Hatter service tech was incompetent, and at worst, he was dishonest in telling me the damper was broken beyond repair. Regardless of which it was, I believe I should be refunded my $250 service fee back because they absolutely did not fulfill their obligation of honest and competent service.

This service was scheduled a week in advance. I was quoted the exact amount the services were on the phone. The 2 gentlemen were kind, thorough, and punctual. Although I believe the price is high - I was pleased with the trust of the quality of the workmanship that the professionalism displays.

This company came in and removed all of our vent covers and also went into the attic to hook up there equipment to the furnace and cleaned everything in our duct work superbly. They were very clean and efficient. We were in a time crunch because of our recent move. They were very accommodating.

The project only consisted of repair to my fireplace doors, and it did not happen at all. I only paid a service fee, and had no benefit.
