This was my first experience with an Angie's Big Deal. The promotion was for a $49 sprinkler evaluation and repair, which I signed up for promptly. (I later learned, from seeing the truck, that the company promotes a" FREE SPRINKLER EVALUATION- VALUE $69" thus although the $49 seemed like a deal, it was $49 more than I would have paid had I seen the truck rather than the promotion). Despite calling to confirm the day before and ensuring that the company had the correct address, the technician showed up at my office (billing address) rather than my home address (which is where the actual lawn is!) Having stayed home for work to meet the technician first thing in the morning (9 am), this created a significant inconvenience-my office is 40 minutes from my home. This was not the first issue. The repair tech ultimately arrived at the guard house for the community. For some reason, it took him more than 30 minutes from the time he cleared the gate until he pulled up at the house. The community is small (90 houses) and it is a 5 minute drive from the gate to my house. Consequently, the appointment commenced approximately two hours after it was scheduled to begin. Upon arriving at the house, the tech was not the least bit apologetic. Moreover, he did not seem the least bit enthused with his job or the assignment at hand. His performance can politely be described as lackluster. The tech did not know how to turn the sprinklers on or activate the sprinkler system. After turning the sprinklers on and activating the system for him, the tech checked out the sprinkler heads that were easy to find. Two of them were not easy to find as it appears they were covered by dirt. He did not take the time to find them, although they clearly were not working and were in need of repair. By this time, it was clear that there was no way we were going to let this company do any further work for us and we allowed the tech to leave. This was an absolute waste of $49 as well as time that could have been better spent at my office.

The technician arrived on time, evaluated the problem and had it fixed in one day.

I bought the $49 Sprinkler System tune-up. I called and was told someone would call me back and schedule it. I received a call that day, and scheduled the Tune-up for the next week. The technician didn't show up on time, so I called to check and see what happened. I got a call back a few minutes later, saying that he had a different time (later) on his schedule, but he would be over in a few minutes. That was fine with me, and he showed up. He seemed professional. According to the coupon, I should have received "Full system inspection includes cleaning of all nozzles and adjusting all heads and rotors for most efficient coverage, Set controller for proper watering time according to season and inspect or adjust rain sensor." I didn't see that any of that was done, but I was meeting with someone, and wasn't really paying attention to the tune-up. However, the technician gave me an estimate to repair our sprinkler system for $1,000. Later I went over the estimate with my husband, and since this company had received really high Angie's List ratings, and was certified in the plumbing portion of sprinkler systems, we decided to move forward. I called during Christmas week, and was told I would get a call back. I still hadn't heard from them after the New Year, so I figured it was the holidays and I would hear from them right after the New Year. When I still didn't hear back, I called again. The receptionist said she didn't remember talking to me. I told her I remembered talking to her, and that I was eager to move forward. She said she would have someone call me. No one called for a few days, so I called and left a message at another number (this company has several phone numbers). I got a call back from a man saying I needed to speak with the sprinkler supervisor, "Chu." He gave me Chu's number. I was in a meeting a few minutes later when I got a call from Chu, and he left me a message saying to call. I called and left messages several times after that, and have not heard back from Chu.

After a very hard time trying to get in touch with them in December they finally came, gave me the tune up for the coupon. Joseph came back today and fixed the three broken sprinkler heads identified in the tune up, but also another one he noticed. He contacted me to let me know when he would arrive and arrived when he said he would. He was very efficient and I believe that he has done a very good job. He also made sure that the sprinklers would come on the the days stipulated by the city and HOA here.

Very professional service. The technician arrived on time and was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. I bought the tune-up deal from Angie's list for $49. The tune-up didn't consist of much - he checked the entire system, but the tune-up didn't cover any actual repairs or work on the system. However, the techician took time to explain everything about my sprinker system and recommended certain services. He also suggested some repairs for the future. He did quick work replacing a few sprinkler heads with professional grade heads and he also moved a couple of them slightly for better lawn coverage. He gave me a pretty good rate since I had already purchased the tune-up package. I was very pleased with the level of service, and would definitely recommend O'Hara's for lawn sprinkler maintenance.

Joseph, their technician, was pleasant and moved through the tasks efficiently

Technician arrived to do tuneup special. We walked the yard together with sprinklers on. Tested each zone. Several heads were broken, some just clogged. He did the tuneup as advertised. Offered to replace the broken heads; price was very reasonable. He even replaced some hedge heads with longer pipe so there would be better coverage (no additional charge). I was very pleased. Will use them again.

Update 1/27/13: Called and talked to Kris after I saw his note to my previous ordeal. Made an appointment w/ Irrigation manager for Jan 12 at 9:30am. Again no show till 10am on the day of appt! I called Wong (irrigation manager, not sure of his name) and he called me back that someone will come by 1pm! Joseph called and came by 12:30pm. He was very patient and answered our every question and was respectful. He listened to our concerns and problems and gave us a quote to do the work. He gave us a discount due to the troubles we had previously. On the day of the appointment,1/16, to do the work, he called to let us know that he was going to be a bit late and got the work done v. nicely. Again he answered my questions every step of the way patiently.. ===================================================================================================== First time that I had called the company's main line, the rep told me that he was filling in for the day and took my name and number. Did not hear from them for more than a month. Second time I called and was given the irrigation person's contact number. I left a voicemail with my name and number. Did not hear back. After a week, I called back third time to the company's main line and complained. The lady told me that someone will contact me the same day, which they did and I set up a time for Saturday 12/14/12 at 9:30am. On the day of appointment, nobody showed up and I called the main number at 10am enquiring about what happened. Lady who answered the phone said that she is going to find out where the technicians are and we hung up. Did not hear anything back either from the lady or the technicians and I waited the whole day. In my experience, I have given this company ample amount of chances and have been let down multiple times. I went for the Angie's big deal based upon the ratings but looks like they are not able to give the same service any more.

They did a great job-completede on time.

He was great and I would use him any time. He went above and beyond in service.

They did a great job and were two nice, clean cut, people. They were professional, on time, and stuck to their quote. They did their job and that was it, no extras.

Technician was on time, and did the requested work.

It did take a few days for someone to call me back to schedule the appointment, but once that happened the technician showed up exactly at the time he was scheduled and he inspected my system. Diagnosed that my timer was faulty and provided an estimate to replace it.

It went well. It was a while ago. I do not remember the details, they came on time were pleasant and did the job with complete competence. We will use them again.

It took several tries to make the appointment and had to rescheduled twice. Once the tech showed up,he was at the house for less than a half hour.

Purchased deal through Angie's List, had to call O'Hara's to schedule appointment for inspection. Quickly scheduled and came out, service tech was professional and knew his job.

Charged for an evaluation and minor repairs, but really only got an evaluation which is usually free. Even the most minor of repairs wasn't included. Received an estimate for repairs which was high. Elected to have someone else do repairs.

We purchased O'Hara's sprinkler system service deal from Angie's list, but knew there would be additional charges involved because some sprinkler heads and nozzles needed to be replaced. Joseph was the tech who came out - he called first and was very conscientious about arriving within the one-hour appointment window we had been given. Joseph was very cheerful and completely knowledgeable. He gave a tour of the whole yard and showed what needed to be done with each sprinkler head. Cleaned out in and around each sprinkler head, replaced the broken parts, re-aligned and re-aimed each one, and even dug up two to straighten them out and replace them at a more efficient height for shrubbery that had grown around them. He made sure that the automatic timer was set for the proper days/times/durations we specified. He showed us the whole thing again afterwards with the sprinklers on so that we could see how each was set and where the water was going. We were very happy with both the work and with Joseph, and would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to others.

Overall, it went very well. The sprinkler system is functioning much better now. There were sprinklers in the yard that were sticking out and some not functioning at all. Joseph came and inspected them all initially and then provided us with an estimate for improving all the zones and all the sprinklers. When he came back for the job, they were a team of two and they spent about 4 to 5 hours adjusting and fixing everything. I am happy overall and would use them again although I felt that their prices were a bit high but at the end, you get what you pay for.

The technicion, his name is Joseph, performed excellent job to replace the damaged index valve, and also to find and resolve potential sprinckler problems. Great professional service! The thing needs to improved is the responsiveness - it took the company several days to call me back after I asked for a service appointment

After purchasing the coupon I phoned the O?Hara office to set up an appointment. The contact person was not available and I was promised a return phone call that day or the next. The next morning Joseph, the sprinkler technician, phoned and we made arrangements for him to come out that same afternoon. Unfortunately, there was a conflict with the time. I phoned him back to reschedule and he was very amenable and easy-going about the change in schedule. We set a new appointment and time for the following week. That morning, he phoned to confirm the service and arrived promptly as promised. He cheerfully went about his duties, explaining patiently what he was doing and why it was necessary. He has a terrific personality and is truly a people-person, the perfect individual to be working directly with customers. He is also a fabulous representative as the public ?face? of O?Hara and is worth his weight in gold! He offered other services, which I declined and accepted my decision graciously. No hard sell. He gave me some company magnets and door tags to distribute to my neighbors. It was great to work with Joseph and if my sprinklers should need additional servicing, I will not hesitate to request him again as my technician.

The representative was courteous and professional, and explained everything he was going to do. He also took the time to demonstrate how to properly use and check the timer. He was on time, and also called prior to his arrival. He did a thorough job, and I am very pleased with his job performance and this company. I would not hesitate using them again.

All the sprinkler heads were first checked for proper function. Adjustments were made for those which weren't working properly, i.e. not popping up, clogged, spraying in the wrong direction etc. Several heads needed to be replaced as the springs were worn out and they would stick in the up position after watering. There were also some leaking heads which were replaced as well as some which needed to be moved as they were being blocked by vegetation. All the work was performed in a professional and timely manner.
