O'Hara Landscaping

I purchased a plan that turned out to have expired..Eddie said he would honor it after he spoke to Angie's List. Eddie came here and we discussed what I wanted. He said he would email me by the end of the week. The end of the week came and went..on March 4 I called the company and Eddie's first email with a preliminary sketch was emailed to me. I called him to tell him to continue. I did not here from him until March 15. This time I received an email sketch. I sent a reply stating I would respond in a few days (my husband was out of town and I wanted him to see it). I did not hear from Eddie. Then I emailed him again..with a few changes I wanted. To date I have not heard from him.

Nice work but I feel like I got jipped a few hours of work time.

Overall it was good, there was one area that was missed but they came back and gave me an estimate for that

They did very well. They were very thorough and did a good job overall.

They are a large company and that is why I went with them, but I think they didn’t send anybody with great knowledge out. They sent a young kid who has worked with them for maybe two years and basically, he is the salesman, and he lines up the customers. I told him I wanted all my irrigation heads checked out and to tell me what I need for them to look perfect, that I wanted it to hit certain plants in a certain direction, because I didn’t know what was needed, and he said that was not a problem. When he showed up, he showed up with another guy, he left this guy with me and this guy didn’t speak any English. I was watching him out of my window and I couldn’t figure out what he was doing. Originally, this person told me it was going to take two guys, whole day, which I thought was a long time but I said okay. For some reason, the sales person and left this guy with me, I don’t know what he was doing, he was standing around and he didn’t seem to be doing anything. Finally, I called them and asked them to come back to the house, and told them that somebody needs to direct him. The salesman told me he knew what he was doing, I told him that I spoke to him and he was supposed to be handling it, and an hour and a half later, he shows up. He mentioned to me that he is out doing sales, I don’t know anything about that, all I know Is that I was told I would have two people, all day to fix this irrigation but that never happened. What I later figured out was he didn’t know anything about irrigation, he is the salesperson, he sets up the job, and he leaves somebody there. So he misrepresented to me as far as having two people there all day. Then he tells me I have a discount, because originally, he quoted me $1000 and we negotiated on $600 and I personally didn’t think there was any discount and if it was, he still didn’t say that it was a discount, and that was entitled to one person and not two people. The whole thing was very lightly done; I don’t think that a professional manager who should have been out here handling this job covered it. There were three heads that didn’t work and he didn’t know how to fix the clock, the clock was wrong, I called them back on the timer about twenty minutes later and he said he would show up the next day and he never did. I called another irrigation company and fixed the clock, fixed a couple of heads that weren’t hitting right, and fixed a couple of heads that weren’t working. About a week later, this guy called me back from O’Hara to say that he was coming out to fix the clock, I told him no thank you, I already took care of it. I just don’t like the way they handle business. I think they prefer big jobs and they just tear off the residential jobs to whomever. I would never use them again. I don’t think they are organized and no one from the company ever called me to ask me if I was satisfied or did any follow through.

I requested and received a prompt refund.

Joseph was very professional, courteous and knew exactly what to do. It didn't take him long to assess which sprinkler heads were not working properly and what my 7 zone system needed. I also had the heads replaced on the second "deal" I had bought so the $225 I listed above included the $100 I spent on the two "deals" and approximately $125 paid the day of the service. It was a pleasure working with Joseph and since I had not had my sprinkler system worked on in several years, it was money well spent. It works perfectly now. I gave all excellent marks for Joseph but gave only a B for overall experience because the office did not call me back

My experience was very good. They were very pleasant and their work was very professional. The people that came out were very nice, polite, and respectful. I bought their big deal earlier one time, and they came out to give us an estimate for landscaping work. The price for the landscaping was very high but for the sprinklers, they were good.

OHara has the contract to service my development in WPB. They are so bad that some of my neighbors have banned them from their property even though we pay monthly in HOA fees for their service. The grass is weed covered, they routinely decimate the ornamental plants I have in front of my home (trimming is a hack job), nothing gets raked or fertilized and I have never seen any pest control administered. I've spoken several times with the employees (those who speak english, 1 in 10) and have been dissed repeatedly as to my instructions regarding the care of my landscape. Inefficient, untrustworthy, just a bad company to do business with.

It was very good. He was very nice and does very good work. He has a great price. Everybody loved the new plants that he put in. I purchased a big deal for eight man-hours of landscaping work. It was reasonable and a fair price. The quality of work was excellent. They forgot to do one thing but they came back and did it, it was very, very good. They were right on time, actually came a little bit early. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

I called 3 different times to get this deal scheduled. I finally spoke with a woman who said I would receive a call from a technician by the end of the day and I never received that call. I requested a refund.

I filled out the request online. A day later, Joseph called to make an appointment. At first, he said that he could come next week. But when I explained that I was home this week, he adjusted his schedule and was able to make the appointment for the next day. On the day of the appointment, Joseph phoned 3 hrs prior to re-confirm. They showed up right on time. Initially, I was only looking to get a quote. But after talking to Joseph, I was convinced that O'Hara was the RIGHT company. They went right to work. (Instead of long winded sentences, I will use pros & cons.) Pros - Checked every sprinkler head (10-12). Replaced and adjusted only the ones that were not working or were too old. - Uncovered a couple of "buried" sprinklers that were covered in mulch. They "raised" the sprinklers and adjusted to spray to provide TOTAL coverage of the front garden. This did not exist prior. - Put stone rings around the sprinklers that were located close to the edge of the driveway. Thank goodness. We tended to drive over these ones. - Once all the sprinklers were identified and fixed, they tested the system to ensure the water providing proper coverage. - Joseph had 3 timers in his truck but not the right one for my house, but he promised to be back the next day. - Before leaving they cleaned up wherever they could. - The next day, Joseph called 45 minutes prior, to just let me know he was on his way. - It took him 20 minutes to remove the old timer and install the new one. - Once completed, he showed me how to use the timer. - Job done. Cons - Absolutely NONE. I am so impressed with Joseph & O'Hara, that I signed up for the bi-monthly maintenance checkup. Would I recommend O'Hara ? HECK YA !!!

Good estimates but price was less encompassing than competition

They came and looked at my sprinkler system and made sure that everything was working properly. However, the quote that they gave me was high.

Needed our irrigation system repaired. Called for an appointment. They informed my husband that they had an irrigation deal going and that we would have to purchase the deal, then we would get a call to have someone come out. That was not what we were interested in, so we did not pursue it any further.

Was running a few minutes late and called me ahead of time...did all that I asked; I set up a monthly plan with them.

The only thing that went wrong was that the person doing the job had an emergency on the day the work was to be done. He called me a bit on the late side to let me know that he could not do the work as established. We rescheduled and that second time he was punctual.

I set up an appointment with them and they did not show up.

The last time we used the services O'Hara Services was in mid of December. They fixed one of our sprinkler heads and a clogged line. They are professionals and have a good customer service. They did not talk down to me, and they educated me. They did not try to sell me something that I did not need.

It was not everything they said it would be. They came in and I had to follow the guy to make sure the work was completed. They made me feel like they wanted to complete the work as quickly as possible. However, the man did the work but I had to follow him around to ensure there was not more work to be done . Overall, I was disappointed the service.

Overall service was completed without anything extraordinary. Sprinklers got were tuned up and some heads were repaired. This was a $50 job, so it was fine.

Technician was very prompt and responsive about coming out to our property to view the back lawn and offered some interesting ideas and concepts. That was basically all that was done. We were informed that we would have a landscape plan for our property with some pricing within a few days. We had to call and remind the technician about the design and even sent a site survey by email to make his job easier. After two cancelled appointments ( both cancelled by the technician) a very amateur landscape plan was delivered to me, which was not complete. I was told that an email with plant images and description would follow later that day- never got it! I guess I expected more of a professional service that what was delivered. I was told by the technician that they do offer pest control- maybe that's what their expertise is- because it certainly isn't landscape design.

After his inspection of our system we were told that we needed over $800.00 in sprinkler head repairs.

i bought a deal from angie's list to have o'hara services perform a lawn sprinkler tune up. i assumed i needed my sprinkler coverage adjusted and since my water bill had recently increased, i thought i might also have a broken head. the best part was that i got a real appt time, not one of those windows between 9 & 3. the man that came was extremely polite and called to confirm the appt in the morning and a little later to tell me he was running about 15 minutes late. when joseph arrived he explained what the deal would cover and not cover. (basically, it covered adjusting but not fixing any broken sprinklers.) he did a complete evaluation of what needed to be adjusted and fixed and gave me a written estimate for the fixes. he also went through each zone showing me what needed to be fixed. in addition, joseph also showed me their business license (without me asking) and explained how i could check on it, if i wanted to. i have never had a company proactively do that before and i've dealt with alot of contractors! after completing the fixes, joseph once again went through all the zones showing me what he adjusted and fixed. at this point, we noticed that water was bubbling up from under the pavers in my driveway when we hit one of the zones. because the sprinklers were fixed, the pressure had now increased in the pipe forcing the water out of a weak point. this pipe had been patched by the company that did my paver driveway and had probably been leaking for years. what a waste of water & money! joseph then pulled up the pavers, found the badly glued pipe and repaired it. in addition, he then put all the dirt back, tamped it down and replaced the pavers. i didn't expect or ask him to do that. he just did it because he wants to do a good job. i am so happy i used this company. i would definately recommend them to everyone. i fully expect to see the money i spend on o'hara services to be made up for in my next water bill!
