Description of Work: Hooked up new monitor to my Mac mini and didn't realize until gone that he plugged the speaker cord into wrong spot, so I basically had no sound. My son discovered and fixed. What a waste of money!!!!

Description of Work: My very expensive Elite Home Theater receiver failed. The 'Big Box Store' tech-geeks refused to honor the warranty claiming ( without any inspection) 'lightning damage'. Bill at Venus Electronics DID open the case and found a bad board and no evidence of lightning damage. He said that particular model had a history of main board failure. He arranged for warranty repair at no cost to me and did not charge because 'he didn't do anything'. This was my second experience with Venus Electronics. The first TV repair was also satisfying. Yes, Venus is the real deal - a honest, professional electronics repair shop.

Description of Work: He came to the house the day before Thanksgiving and fixed my TV.

Description of Work: Bill came to my house and looked at a couple of TV's that were damaged from a lightning storm. He had already done his research for possible problems and had parts and pricing suggestions when he arrived. He was very personable and knowledgeable and quickly confirmed the problems with the TV's (37" LCD and a 60" Plasma). The 37" wasn't worth fixing and the 60" was, however parts were impossible to find so he wasn't able to fix it on the spot. He called me later with a company name that repairs damaged TV boards for the 60", so I'll be pursuing that avenue. The only thing I felt was a little misleading was the service charge. He did tell me up front that it was $89.99 for the service charge but also said that the $89.99 would be applied to the repair costs. That wasn't the case... he said he could fix the 37" TV by doing some soldering for $90, but when I asked if the service call would apply he said no. I asked if any portion of the service charge would apply and he said no. That's what made the 37" TV not worth fixing ($89.99 + $90.00) So needless to say that was a bit of a downer since the rest of the experience was good. So I would make sure you fully understand what he means when he says the service charge cost will be applied to the repair before having him come out.

Description of Work: Bill, was very nice and professional. He researched the problem with my TV, called me back and we jointly we decided due to the age of the set (plasma) that it wasn't worth repairing. He didn't try to sell me on a new set or anything like that. I have friends in the TV business and bought a new set instead of repairing a 12 year old plasma that parts weren't readily available for. I appreciated his honestly. Overall good experience!

Description of Work: we have a dlp 60 t,v, that has what we call white stars in the screen. after contacting venus repair, over the phone bob knew excatly what was wrnog and had to order a part, he gave us the price of the part of the part and we gave him the o.k. to order it. well it happen that it was on back order since the set was over 6 years old. after three weeks ,he contacred me and ser up a time to replace the part. he showed up at the set time and within an hour he had the entire job done, and accepted the 10% Angie's coupon as well. the t.v. has worked perfect ever since.

Description of Work: Venus Electronics did an outstanding job. I brought my TV for estimate, on the next day i received a phone call with the problem that my TV had and a very reasonable quote. I gave him the OK to work on the tv and two days later i had the tv repaired. Extremely fast and friendly service.

Description of Work: They cleaned up a couple battery connections on a TV, and fixed some cables.

Description of Work: We were having trouble with the cable. The gentleman tried to clear up the picture because it was too dark and there was too much snow on the screen.

Description of Work: My Toshiba 36 inch HDTV picture was curved inward (concave) on both sides. He came to the house, tested it and found a part of one of the computer boards not working. He took a main board into the shop to test for the defect, replaced it and brought it back to the house several days later. Then he checked out the CD/vhs/DVD player/sound systems and hooked it up properly(for the first time ever). He had done a free over the phone repair for me about 6 months ago, and not sent a bill. I gave him and extra $15 for that.

Description of Work: He replaced an input jack where the two TV tuners are connected. My TV has PIP so it has 2 tuners and instead of charging me to replace a tuner he switched my cable around and added an input jack. He also hooked up my other equipment so that I could take advantage of all my video jacks with my X-box, VCR, etc.

Description of Work: I called Mr. Herron and described the problem with my 36" Toshiba HDTV. I couldn't get any red in the picture. He asked me a few questions about red colored cables. I went to look, and while handling the cable at my HDTV box the picture normalized. No visit, and no charge.

Description of Work: Mr. Bill Herron was very prompt, polite, professional. He told me, over the phone just what my ailing T.V. sets problem was and that he could repair in home and the amount to be charged. He was dead-right. He was even able to provide me with a new, replacement remote control, which he completely adjusted. Then he explained the use features of the remote.
