David was really great. He was fast with his estimates, and he was also very responsive. His repairs look pretty darn good. Along the way, he made sure we were happy. We asked him to try his hardest not to step on any flowers or plants during the work... and to work around a ridiculously large rose bush with HUGE thorns. I am happy to report that not a single plant or rose thorn was damaged! I have met many handymen and service folks over the last few years, and David is a rare breed. It was a pleasure, and we would hire him again.
Description of Work: 1) Porch Repair - Removed and replaced 2 rotted support posts and rotted fir floor boards , Primed all replacements (this included having to prop up the covered porched and removing/re-securing railings) 2) Deck Repair - Replaced part of a built in bench with pressure treated wood 3) Under Deck Door Repair 4) Basement Door knob replacement, door fix, jam fix, and foam insulation 5) Plaster ceiling hole repair, textured paint finish 5) Removed bad grout areas from shower walls and replaced it

As long as David is in the handyman business, I will utilize his services. Prior to beginning the job(s), he came by to see what was needed in terms of labor and parts then called me with the estimated cost of each project. He was true to his estimates. But the remarkable aspect of working with David is that he goes a step further. For example, when he finished adding to the fireplace mantel, he suggested that a cornice might enhance the appearance. And he was so right! When he created the outside ramp for the dog door, rather than just finding a piece of wood, he (using what was laying around) actually installed it so that it wouldn't slip and slide. David takes pride in his work and the finished project. This is a quality to be honored as it seems increasingly rare.
Description of Work: David installed a garage door opener -- not an easy task as the garage ceiling was too low to accomodate the contraption. However, the finished look is such that the ceiling cut-away is not noticeable unless one looks for it. He then added a layer to a mantel so that it could accomodate a mantel clock. The finished project looks as if it was the original design. He installed an overhead kitchen fan with lights and helped me center a swag lamp the more-often-than-not bonked me in the head. Finally, he installed a dog door and then made a ramp so the older (18) of my two dogs could use the door. I still have projects pending and will only tackle them when David is available.

He knows his stuff, I will use him again
Description of Work: Second time I have used him. The 1st time he remodeled by bathroom and tiled my kitchen. This time he repaired by leaking sunroom roof and replaced the drywall in the ceiling and walls. He has always been on time and I have been very satisfied with his estimates which are very close to the actual bill. And to top it all off, my dog likes him

David was great to work with. He gave us a good estimate and advice on materials to buy, picked up the materials for us and did a fantastic job installing our tile, it looks beautiful and you can tell that he takes pride in his work and pays attention to detail. We look forward to our next project with him and will recommend him to family and friends.
Description of Work: David estimated that we would need our kitchen floor leveled, applied subflooring, mortar and porcelain tile, grouted it and payed attention to details such as moldings, making sure the doors were cut down to size and came back for touch ups and troubleshooting.

Overall, it's been a very expensive and disheartening experience. I felt from the beginning that his estimate was too expensive, but I wasn't alone in the decision to hire him. Mr. Cunningham has told me he guarantees his work, but it hasn't turned out to be so. He did come back and put the adhesive on the gutter seams, but that's all. It is very difficult for me to give this kind of feedback. I liked him and thought he was like a friend that could be trusted. I have held off writing this, to give him every chance of contacting me, but it doesn't look like he will. Now, I'm in the nasty spot of having to find someone else to repair this job at additional cost.
Description of Work: Work was started on 11-17-10. We paid $1200.00 then . On 11-26-10, he was paid another $1200.00 which was for a 12 x 18 ft. lean-to for a tractor. It should also be said, that we provided the outer support for the roof. An additional $155.00 was charged and paid for on 12-09-10 for a very short gutter section on the side near the lean-to, which he said wasn't included in the original estimate. All the charges were to include new gutters on the front of the house and the back. And to put in a cat door, which turned out to be too small for my cats. He promised he'd get a bigger one. To date he hasn't. He had to come back a month or so ago, to put adhesive on the seams of the gutters, because they were leaking since they were put on. Today I noticed that he eliminated a downspout or leader, that was originally at the front of the house, and because it was a long stretch it needs downspouts at either end of the section. When he built the lean to, he didn't provide anywhere near enough cross supports under the heavy duty roofing material. Consequently the roofing buckled under the snow load of last winter and was destroyed. During that time I kept in contact with him, letting him know what was happening. Under that lean-to it became a mud wallow, because of all the rain and melting snow just pouring in. I called him in early summer of 2011, he came over, looked at the lean-to and said he didn't realize how bad it was. He said he would come over in a week or so, to remove the roofing. He did not. We offered to pay half the cost of the new roofing, even though we shouldn't have had to I know, but we felt if he did the labor without charge, we would do that. He said he would come back in two weeks after he finished another job. It is now a month, since then, and he never called, or came over. He is a likeable man, makes a good impression, but is not reliable or trustworthy, I am very sorry to say. We paid a lot of money for a lean to we cannot use, roofing that must be disposed of, which will cost quite a bit, as well as new roofing, a cat door to replace, and eventually put in a downspout, where it should have been.

Every visit is a pleasant and rewarding experience for us. Usually Dave comes and surveys what needs doing and then returns with the tools, equipment and fixtures he needs to complete the job(s).
Description of Work: Dave was able to connect a cable from our wifi (which was up stairs) to our TIVO and TV so that we did not experience reception programs. He has done all sorts of jobs for us over the years that we cannot do because both my wife and I are disabled. Some are minor - replacing a faucet, and some are major - power washing our deck and staining it with a preservative stain.

Excellent!! David responded the same day we called him in early December 2009 (as a result of seeing his ad in the local newspaper) and stopped by to review what we wanted done. He e-mailed his estimate a couple of days later and stopped by to hand deliver a copy also. Due to the holidays we held off doing anything until January. David arrived at the time he said he would arrive and went right to work. The two biggest jobs were the tileing jobs. He had many, many tiles to cut in the bathroom, as there are twelve corners and no two walls are the same length. The job took him longer than he originally thought it would, but he stated that he had quoted a price per job, not per hour. He also included the price of the tile in his quote (at a specific price per tile). Since we wanted basic white in the bathroom that worked well. We did pay for the tiles to create one row of decorative tile around the bathroom, but we expected to pay for those. He did a terrific job! Our bathroom is now beautiful. The kitchen tile was hard to chose, because I decided I didn't want white in the kitchen. Since he had included the price of the tile for that job as well, he deducted the cost of the tile from his price and let me go find what I wanted. We applied his credit toward the cost of what we finally picked. We have owned this condo for over 12 years and I have wanted tile above the counters for every minute of those 12+ years. So, when David was done with the kitchen tile I was absolutely thrilled! We told David he should have done before and after pictures, because no-one would believe it was the same bathroom and kitchen! The additional stair railing very closely matches the existing railing and is a blessing to have since we are all seniors in this household. The new and existing railings are firmly attached to the walls (thank you, David)! Since our kitchen isn't huge, having that extra shelving in the laundry room is wonderful; David built very sturdy supports (he saw how much stuff I was going to put on it)! He arrived each day when he said he would arrive, he stayed until what he was doing was completed and he cleaned up where he was working at the end of each day. David took great pride in doing the entire job well and to his own satisfaction, not just ours. We have more work that needs to be done and we have already asked David for a quote. Needless to say, we would and are going to hire him again! We recommend him highly
Description of Work: Installed, grouted and sealed ceramic tile in our kitchen and master bathroom (supplied most of the tile, too). Replaced three bathroom faucets and the kitchen faucet. Repaired two leaking showers. Built, stained and installed a second stair railing. Changed and added supports on existing railing. Built, painted and installed a new wood shelf in the laundry room. Smoothed out and painted an attempted home-owner repair of a damaged sheetrock wall. Built, painted and installed side shelves in the hall closet. Fixed a kitchen cabinet drawer, cleaned a ceiling fan's blades, changed a toilet seat, replaced a closet bracket with a heavy duty bracket, fixed a bathroom towel rack, patched some holes in the walls, sealed around the kitchen sink, installed a broom holder and hung two wire shelves in the laundry room.
