Worst moving experience I have ever had, to include over a dozen whole-house moves in the military - Ocean initially offered $54 settlement for thousands of dollars in losses! These people took advantage of a disabled veteran and lost 1/3rd of our shipment. I paid over $1600 to get a professional door to door move of some furniture with sentimental value and some large prints, a lot of money for a small (less than a full sized pickup truck load) move but I figured top dollar, top service. I was so wrong - the delivery end of the service called my sister who was receiving the load the night before delivery and told her that her street might not fit his truck so he would have to charge her an additional $500-$600 to cross load onto a smaller truck. She hurriedly got a friend with a truck, met the Ocean Pacific driver under a bridge - literally- and did the cross-loading. The driver barely spoke English, had a cigarette in his mouth the whole time, and was wearing dirty clothes; he was so unprofessional that my sister got nervous about even completing the move, the whole thing seemed bizarre. He was unable to describe or clarify any of the moving items (some of which were mislabeled) and so my sister accepted the shipment, only finding out when she got home (picture the scene, meeting some shady character under a bridge, she was in a hurry to get out of there) and unwrapped the packages etc. that two out of five boxes were missing, and the spindles to a rice-carved poster bed were missing and instead she had some "slats" (as mislabeled on the manifest) - wooden boards that are nothing at all like the missing pieces. The bed - value $2500 is now worthless, and some of the prints which were worth up to several hundred dollars each are missing. For months now we have been trying to get the company to find the missing items, I don't want the money I just want our stuff back, and we have been getting nothing but excuses and delays. I have requested a full refund (which still doesn't nearly compensate us for the missing items) and this has been denied, yet the company after calling them multiple times still can't seem to send me a claim form. I am getting ready to report this company to the Better Business Bureau and the Macdill Air Force Base movement office, as well as considering legal action.
