Timing belt replacement on 1995 Nissan Pathfinder.
Head gasket and spark plug replacement on Chevy Venture van.
Both jobs performed timely, at estimated price and great work.
I trust two shops in Pensacola - Robert Tau and his brother's shop Winged Wheel.

Excellent. They located problem, fixed it properly and the price was very fair.
They are my "go to" shop for any vehicle problems. I've had work done on 4 vehicles by them over the past 3 years and won't take mine anywhere else!

I brought my 2001 Jeep Wrangler in due to clutch and shifting problems. I drove home at low city limit speeds. The next day I went over 45 MPH and felt a bad vibration. It felt like an alignment problem. I brought it into my local Big 10 Tire garage and had them check the alignment. They found one missing balancing weight. I tested it and found the vibratin still present. I arranged to bring it back when the Big 10 manager could road test it. Big 10 rechecked the balance and then road tested it. They experienced the vibration at speeds above 45 MPH. They put it up on the rack and the mechanic found both the forward and rear universal joints loose (4-wheel drive). The rear joint was slightly loose, the bolts on the forward universal were very loose. After explaining to me that if the forward joint let go, there was the distinct possibility of it hitting the road and being driven back into and through the front passenger floor. The tightening of the universals was a fix for the vibration. The Big 10 manager told me that he considered Robert Tau Automotive highly reliable. He recommended that I bring the Jeep back to them to check out the work. I work offshore in the maritime industry. The Jeep was unused for a couple of months. I brought it back to Tau's and they showed interest in what I had to say and they made time to take a look at the transmission. They had to make some adjustments and the manager apologized for the work that was done on it. He appeared to be unhappy at what he found. Today June, 6, 2012 my transmission went out again 3,600 miles after the Tau service.
I heard about Robert Tau on Angie's List. I have heard nothing but praise for his gararage. After I experienced the problems with the service I was wondering if the mechanic was having a bad day or didn't like my bumper stickers. Either way, I won't be using their services in the future.

I found them online. I don't know if it was through Angie's List or Google, but they were online and had good reviews. Robert is just a real honest guy and it seemed like he didn't overcharge for me anything. It was a fair price for the parts and for the work that he did.

I have recommended them to others. They were very prompt in getting the work done. They did a very good job. I thought the price was reasonable.

Took the car and gave me an estimate. Actually did more work than we talked about without charging me. I'm a customer for life which includes my car, my wife's, and those of my 5 kids. My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is that it is impossible to reach them on the phone but that's because EVERYONE loves this guy to work on thier car.

I would suggest Robert Tau Auto to anyone who is in need of auto service. My car is exotic and is known to be complex to work on. Robert was very humble, but also incredibly knowledgeable about what needed to be done. Robert obviously knew his stuff from the get go, since he knew about the special issues with my car as well as how to fix them. Robert didn't gauge or take forever, he had a shop full of cars and kept them moving, so the car was fixed promptly and was available the next day. Unlike other shops that promise to know what to do, and then end up causing issues with the car, Robert Tau knew the problem and the appropriate solution. I'd refer others to him and will return in the future to service my exotic car.

Took my 2002 Chevy Venture to Robert Tau on the recommendation of a co-worker. I do virtually all of my own auto/motorcycle work, but this engine is exceedingly difficult to work on because of the tight space. Me: "The lifters started clattering two days ago." RT: "Have you had to add coolant?" Me: "??...Yes I have." RT: "It's not your lifters, it's the intake manifold gasket. It's a problem with those motors and yours is the third one this week. I can have it done in two or three days." Me: "You can take two or three weeks if you want, I have another vehicle. Can you also replace the rear set of spark plugs while you're in there? I don't have the four foot long arms with two elbows required to do it with the engine in position." RT: "No problem, I'll also replace the plug wires, you're looking at $600 - $650." Work was done in a timely manner at the estimated price (after taxes). He also replaced the thermostat while he had access, a nice touch....it's an awkward job but an easy add on when doing the manifold gasket replacement. As an aside--intake manifold gaskets simply DO NOT FAIL. EVER. GM used a gasket material that appears to be incompatible with their Dexcool antifreeze.
