Active Landscaping & Irrigation

Purchased a deal through Angie's List for a sprinkler inspection and tune-up. The tech adjusted coverage and zone timings as per the tune-up. I was aware there was a leak and low pressure, and was hoping to find out the cause of this through the inspection. The tech who came out was very knowledgeable and quickly identified the causes to be several faulty buried sprinkler valves. Active quoted a very fair and competitive price to replace, and finished the job in a matter of hours.

Despite an illness that left them short handed, our project was done right on time. The repairman arrived when he said he would and the work was completed quickly and well! They were courteous and took time to explain things I didn't understand. We would definitely use them again - for ANY of their services.

The tech arrived promptly at the scheduled time...he was very polite, efficient and professional. He did a good job tuning up my system, found and repaired two broken below ground pvc pipes which caused my system to malfunction and replaced 5 broken "birds" all done at a fair price. We will definitely use this company again should the need arise.

I had someone else look at the system and they told me it would cost $850, because so many of them need to be replaced, but they told me all I need was to add another one for $55 and the rest are adjustable. They were very honest and very friendly; I would recommend them and use them again in the future.

The service started out good. The 2 guys who came out turned on the irrigation system, identified the zones and found some breaks in the lines. Then one of the guys turned off the outside water valve and they continued to check the system. When they tested the zones in the back yard there was no water coming out and then they checked the front yard again and there was hardly any water coming out. They said I would need to have plumbing lines checked out and when I got that problem resolved they would come back out and finish the service on the irrigation. After they left I went inside and found I had no water pressure at my sink so I called Orange County Utilities to ask where I should start to find out what was wrong with the water. The woman I spoke to asked if I was sure the main water valve was open. I went outside and checked it and sure enough, the valve was almost all the way closed. I opened the valve and all my water pressure was fine. I called Active back to tell them what the problem was - that they had the main water valve turned off - and also that now the outside valve was leaking. They came back the next day to check it and said that unfortunately they had no control over the valve leaking. They tried the irrigation system and the water pressure was fine. I asked them to just turn all the timers off until they were able to come back and they did - at least they said they did. The following morning the irrigation system came on automatically so the timers actually had not been turned off. I have not called them back.

He changed the spray patterns on two sprinkler heads, confirmed all zones properly working and reviewed timer settings. He met my wife while I was at work and he was very patient and explained everything in detail. She was quite pleased and impressed.

Performed service as advertised. Did take a little time to set up service. Had to leave a message then wait for a return call,

Everything went well. I am not sure that he actually checked all the sprinkler heads, A couple seemed unchecked to me, but I am not sure. He was done very quickly. I wished I had gone around with him to make sure it was done to my satisfaction, but Ill wait until next time.

I needed to have piping replaced in 2 locations - - 1 near the shut-off valve and the other near one of the heads. Both fixes took about 15-20 minutes for an additional cost of less than $40 (parts & labor). This is the 2nd year in a row that I have used these folks for a sprinkler tune-up. Both times have been great experiences. Both times I purchased the service thru an Angie's List Big Deal. I will definitely plan to do this again next year.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it was okay. He spent maybe a half hour out here, I wasn't that thrilled. I was trying to identify by virtue of not just the sprinkler system, in terms of its functionality right now. It works fine, however, I was concerned about a particular area that I was wonderinf if another head would be helpful, so as to saturate this area, more than it is getting right now. He didn't seem to have an answer one way or the other. I was looking for a bit more of a professional opinion, and I didn't get it.

The $35 inspection turned into a $450 repair. I have no problem with the original $150 quote to move and or add a few sprinkler heads but I still do not have coverage where I requested it in my back yard and my cable TV lines were damaged with the digging done by ACTIVE and now require yet another repair! They should have called to have the cable marked before digging. Also, after an additional $250 repair because of all the time they spent digging to find the problem, they finished the job and left my landscape in a mess. Holes were dug and left unfilled, small piles of dirt left covering the lawn, wires in the backyard brought into the house by my dogs, and unleveled landscape. When I called the owner and reported this final disappointment he stated they would be out first thing Monday morning to clean up the mess. They should have come out immediatley. I cleaned up most of the mess and put yard back in shape on Saturday but left the filling of the holes to ACTIVE . The staff was very friendly but I am not at all happy with their work and I would not recommmend them to anyone.

They came out and did the tune up; I have to bring them back to fix the system now that they have already identify the problem that I have. They found out that the problem is I have a broken line that needs to be fix and I just want to make sure that they identify all the problems in my sprinkler system; they did a fine job.

Well, after he left, I still had to clean from around the sprinkler heads and my husband had to raise several up so they would clear the grass level. However, I probably should not have expected anything more from $35.

The service was well worth the funds. He cleaned out and adjusted the system thereby improving the water pressure and coverage.

It was very good. He was prompt and he did the work as requested. I didn't spend more than the big deal purchase. I would use them again in the future.

Dan did an excellent job in checking for dry areas and adjusting and/or fixing the sprinklers.

Simply, it could not have gone better. Even took the time to explain things with our timer box that I didn't know how to use at the optimum level of efficiency. That guy was great.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were great. They came out a couple of months after I purchased the deal because it took me a while to call them. They fixed a couple of small problems without an extra charge so that was good. They were very professional and very prompt. They were all great.

The estimate was $95.00 but it said it was an ESTIMATE, and it would be more if it took longer or if they needed additional parts. The part they want to replace is $30.00 and the labor is $65.00 per hour. I guess this is how money hungary companies get clients these days.

Lawn looks worse now then before we started service with Active. Lawn clipping left on driveway, sidewalks and flower beds. Communicated this to them and their response..........it was the design of our lawn that caused this. Also, would often leave pieces of the weedeater line on our lawn. Overall, not very professional at all. Once we communicated the issues and our disappointment with them they did not seem to care they were losing a customer. Too many options to deal with a company that seems to care less about customers. We will hire a company that provides better lawn service and is concerned with customer service!

Great. Dan was knowledgeable, kind and professional.

Needed to have the two zones in the front yard inspected and repaired in preparation for new sod installation. Purchased the tune up special (an excellent value) knowing that some extra work would also be needed. Had one head that was at the corner moved and replaced, replaced another rotary head, and had three capped. A low pressure issue was resolved by fixing a leak at the solenoid. Dan showed up on time, was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and honest. No sales push for additional services, and offered welcome cost-saving advice for future landscaping plans. Will absolutely use this company again when attacking the back yard projects next spring.

They installed new sprinkler heads for my sprinkler system for me in the past and I would have them back again. They came on time and were courteous as well. Today they came out and gave me an estimate for cutting my grass, but quickly apologized that they were all booked up in my area, but that they would put me on the list. I really appreciate their honesty.
