Scheduled the appointment a month out and took time off from work to be home. The add said they send someone to give you an estimate and do the work the same day. A representative showed up for the appointment clearly not prepared to do any work. He said he forgot about the appointment and had to have the manager send him the email to remind him of the details. He said he could not do the work the same day but could come back later in the afternoon and using 30 minute mud skim the first coat. Said he would come back the next day, and again using 30 minute mud skim one wall and work on the other while the first was drying. Said he couldn't get it finished that day either, but would come back and finish on the third day. He offered to come back a fourth day, even though we would not be home and he would finish the job. Now I am no expert; however, I did fill the holes and skim one of the three walls in about an hour. I hurt my back so I am not able to finish the job. He quoted us $950, which we thought was ridiculous for 3 walls. It appeared he really didn't want to do the job. When we called for the appointment we told them we wanted the drywall on 3 walls finished with a light orange peel. The guy boasted about the quality of his work and how he had been doing that type of work for years. Really, and it was still going to take 3 days to finish 3 walls. We scheduled the appointment a month out and they still forgot about us and couldn't schedule the work. That would have been nice to know in advance so we could hire someone else. What ever happened to good customer service? Definitely not with this company!

The worker Mark was scheduled to be out there by 8:30am but I appreciated that he called before hand to let me know he was on his way and was really only 30 minutes late but I am thankful that he came. He did excellent work. I'm really happy that I finally have found a company with a really good person who can do the type of craftsmanship that Mark did. The enclosure in the kitchen was beautifully done. He reused some wood I had for shelves and saved me a lot of money. All I can say is that I am very pleased with the work he did and definitely would like to use him in the future. Thank-you.

The guy that was sent was nice, definitely liked to talk. He called beforehand while at Lowe's to get what I needed. I sent some pictures. He got what was needed. After he arrived, we walked through the house and showed him what needed to be done. I expressed the important items that needed to be addressed first (the front door issue and the flooring by the sliding glass window. He replaced the weather stripping on the doors first, the garage door is hard to close and the weather stripping on the front door was a waste of money because it needs to be replaced apparently. Not to mention the left over clippings I had to clean up from the new weather stripping that was left on the ground. He grouted the floor and left me to clean the excess residue off. My main complaint is the fact that my front door was stripped of the rotted wood and now I have a hole to deal with and a vulnerable door to the weather. The laminate flooring really wasn't fixed to satisfaction. Also, one of the items I wanted done was missed, fixing the exterior fake shutters separating from the house. He was at my house for roughly two hours but half the time was spent talking about something or another. Apparently there is a minimum $120 (roughly two hours) which I was charged. The initial quote was $240 for the listed items but considering he couldn't fix the front door he dropped it to $120 plus materials $70 which I think is not fair for the 30 mins of actual work (at best) and the wasted materials on the front door. Overall, I am not happy with the work and will not be using them again.

It went very well. He called to let us know he was on the way, arrived on time and went right to work. He completed everything in just under 2 hours.

Great work for a great price

After Noel had completed the items I had him do the first time he came to work for me I called Jeff to reschedule him for Tuesday Feb. 10th ay 8:30 AM. Noel had given me a rough estimate of $420.00 to fix the Garage ceiling, but several large items needed to be moved out of the way so I needed to schedule a new appointment - and was told by Jeff that it was on the books. Next Tuesday morning I waited two hours and no one showed. Jeff called me back (after I left two messages) at 11 AM and had no clue what I was talking about (but did apologize for the mistake and we rescheduled for the next day at 8:30 AM). Noel showed up about 10 minutes early and quoted me an official price of $520.00 (7 hours of labor at $60.00 an hour and $100.00 materials). I was somewhat concerned because his last quote included labor and materials, but the estimate of $420.00 he had given me a week earlier apparently was for labor only. I asked if he thought it would take 7 hours to fix and he came back with a quote of $460.00 (6 hours at $60.00 an hour and $100.00 materials) which was acceptable. Now here is where I have a problem, he finished at about 1:30 PM, which by my estimate is 5 hours, but I was still charged $360.00 labor, and $36.00 for materials. Granted it was below both prices he gave me, and he did a fairly good job - the mudding could have been smoother (especially since I don't plan to replace the popcorn finish that the ceiling originally had). Also he didn't clean any of the higher areas where the popcorn dust fell all over everything. Big those are probably minor points (although with the no-show I felt a C rating was deserved) and in all I was glad to get it repaired.

Our request was answered immediately, Noel arrived on time, performed all work as requested in a courteous, professional and clean manner. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you!

I called Jeff and scheduled the work to be done on Feb. 3rd at 8:30 AM. Noel arrived about ten minutes early, looked over the items I wanted done and gave me a quote of $420.00 ($360.00 for labor - 6 hours at $60.00 an hour, and $60.00 for materials). After 6 hours everything was done, materials were less than expected, and I was very happy. My only complaint (which is why I gave them a B rating), when Noel drilled the hole above the kitchen sink to install the light, he didn't put anything down to catch the dust from the drywall - the sink was covered in white powder that I had to clean up myself.

Ratings are based on fact that person showed up, gave an estimate, which, although it seemed high, we were agreeable to. Person left to purchase materials, called short time later, stating that had to pick up daughter at school and would be delayed, then called later and said could not come and wanted to come the next morning(Saturday, when we would not be there) and was going to charge the same amount for a few hours, which seemed like it would amount to a much higher hourly charge. There was never any more follow up or contact and we were very disappointed as we had heard good things about the reliability and trustworthiness of businesses selected through |Angie's list. It will take a vastly different result in the future to gain any confidence.

We were pleased with the experience overall, from calling Mr. Hale and explaining what we needed to him scheduling someone to come out quickly, to the gentlemen arriving on time(early), they assessed the work, went for supplies and went right to work. We look forward to calling My Handy Craftsman in the future.

Bob cut the drywall to access the old, rusted pocket door rail, and replaced it with a much nicer set (that I had ordered earlier) and now the door works perfectly. He patched it up without issue and I painted after it dried up. He did a good job, and did it more quickly than he originally estimated. Door works perfectly now, and is aligned correctly. Another pocket door didn't need the rail replaced, but he also aligned it, and installed two higher quality latches. (He had to cut the door notches a hair bit larger for the new latches to fit) All in all, would use again and recommend.

He was very cordial and courteous, and did a very good job.

Beware. This owner will attempt to extort you for more money once the job has been completed and the bill has been paid. The professionalism of the installer was terrific, just not the owner.

Bob Burkhart did an outstanding job repairing our home after a water leak. He is friendly, professional and very competent in performing drywall repair and finish carpentry. We would not hesitate to recommend him to our friends and neighbors.

He was very professional and took his time to get the job done right. I will definitely use again in the future for projects around the house!

Michael appeared at the appointed time and gave us a complete estimate on doing a bathroom remodel as well as repairing the wood siding on our house which had "rot" in various places. He was both friendly and professional and knew exactly what had to be done. Our bathroom was built in 1978 so their was a need to remodel and update. Mark was the worker they sent over and he worked on the exterior first. He was here every day on time and if I didn't make him some lunch he would have worked through until the end of the day. We were very impressed on how Mark creatively repaired some of the "rot" which were in some unusual places like the corner of the house and on the bottom of some support. He made some suggestions which would help to keep the Florida rain and humidity off the wood towards the bottom (such as a thin flashing strip). He cleaned up every day. I did the painting. He did a great job. Mark came back the following week and started the bathroom work. Once again, he was here on time and cleaned up every day during the project. The bathroom remodel took about two and a half weeks or so. We bought the vanity, light fixtures, tile (for the walls and floor), mirrors, faucets, valve assembly, and sliding shower door ahead of time. Mark took me over to the tile store in his truck to pick up the tile because he knew it was heavy for me to carry and to put in my car. He worked hard every day and once again showed his creative talents in solving some problems such as rebuilding the shower stall because of the wear and tear over the years. He built the shower pan, installed the Wall Board (I think Dura Rock), sealed the joints and waterproofed it. He installed the tile on the shower floor and the walls. He made a suggestion on the walls to make it look attractive. He repaired/replaced the dry wall, installed the baseboards, installed the light fixtures, tiled the bathroom floor, installed the vanity, and textured the walls. We did the painting ourselves. The finished bathroom looks terrific and looks like it was built by Mark to last 50+ years. He was very professional and very detailed. We are going to use the Company to complete a number of "handyman" items that we ignored over the years. We highly recommend them. The approximate cost above was for both the bathroom and exterior wood siding labor and doesn't include most of the materials/supplies.

I needed a professional tile setter. I called My Handy Craftsman on Friday morning 08/22/2014 and spoke to "Jeff". He was mobile and promised to call-me-back within an hour. I was never called back so on the following Monday, I called again and spoke to "Jeff". (No apology/excuse for not calling me back.) The conversation was little odd and memorable, especially when he asked if I would commit to them doing the work while the estimator was on premise giving me their estimate. My response was, that depends on the estimate. The estimator ?Mike? showed up on time the following Thursday afternoon. He looked very professional, in clean business appropriate clothing. He spoke with knowledge about slate installation and noted the preparation work we had done/will do. (Supply the colored grout. Sealed the slate, Will seal the grout.) The ?labor proposal? was $880. I was stunned. I said no to them doing the work. Note: I had done my research and knew that the going rate in my region was $5.00/square foot for installation ($320), plus labor for any preparation work. I turned out that My Handy Craftsman wanted more than DOUBLE what two other A-rated Angie's List contractors wanted. This goes back to what I've said in other reviews... That an ?A? rating doesn't guarantee mean a competitive price/good value.

Aaron couldn't have been nicer. He was on time, courteous and professional. I would definitely use them again.

I had new faux wood blinds installed to replace old ones. The person from My Handy Craftsman that performed this service was very courteous and professional in my dealings with him and he did a great job. I will use them again.

I had a fantastic experience with My Handy Craftsman. The shower tiles in our master bathroom had caved in and needed replacement, and this company was very prompt in responding to my calls and scheduling an appointment to come out for an estimate. As for the work itself, Paul was a pleasure to work with. He was efficient, produced high quality work, and communicated well every step of the way. When the project had unforeseen issues (ant infestation and rotten wood behind the old tile), he was upfront about the cost and time changes this would require and he made sure the project was still completed in a timely manner. Very pleased with our new shower!

Jeff called back immediately after I left my message. Was able to get an appt in asap. Noel was on time, respectful, knew his stuff and was pleasant. Great worker! Will use them again.

After reading several reviews of the company on Angie's List, I called Jeff to schedule installation of plywood flooring in a portion of my attic. I met with the carpenter today. He looked at the job to be done then left to purchase three sheets of plywood. Upon returning, he got right to work, cut the plywood to size and screwed the plywood sheets in place. I reimbursed him for the cost of the plywood that was added to the labor charge. The whole process went very well. I would utilize their services again if required.

I received a quick call back. I really didn't like that they pressured me to give them a guarantee on paying up to a certain amount BEFORE they even seen the repair needs. I understand that they want to be efficient with their time but that was a little annoying. Unfortunately, they were not equip to handle the work needed to be done. So, we did not use them. I appreciated the assessment of the situation afterwards and can appreciate the honesty regarding the reluctance to do a repair that they didn't think would help since the house is so old.

It went fine, I didn't have any issues.
