We were a long term customer of Northside Propane with no complaints. Service was good and we had a great business relationship. I noticed we were being billed at 5.00/gallon for propane and compared prices, to realize we were being grossly over billed. After conversing with Northside they nicely agreed to drop my price by 3.00/gallon. Yes, that is 3.00/gallon. I thanked them and ask for credit for almost a year of the overage in their prices. This request was denied. We no longer are buying our propane from Northside. My fault for trusting in integrity, their fault for taking advantage of a customer that let his guard down due to a trusting relationship. Nutshell...The provider's lack of customer service and ability to return phones let me to the conclusion that they either did not want my business or it would be a horrible experience if I were to become a customer. Northdale Propane is literally a couple of miles from my home. They were my defacto choice to be my service provider. On numerous occassions, I would call the office number and leave my contact information with a comment that the owner or someone would call me back to schedule an appointment. To my understanding, you have to have a safety inspection before service can be provided. It took weeks to finally get a commitment date for the safety inspection. To provide context of how much effort it took to get an appointment...twice I actually physically went to their office to follow-up on the return call. Eventually, someone did come out and perform the safety inspection. I was instructed to call back when my pool heater arrive and they would connect it and "get me going". When my pool heater arrived, the customer service experienced repeated itself. After three weeks of chasing down a return call, I finally reached out to another provider on Angie's List. The other service provider was able to take my information and schedule an appointment on the spot. Turned out that they had a better "new customer" rate program that was a nice bonus. I have no ideal what it would be like to actually be a customer to Northdale Propane, but being a prospective customer was not a pleasent experience. To be clear, the ladies who would answer the phone when I called were polite and helpful in that apparently they had serviced my setup through the previous owner and had useful information about my tank (size, ownership, etc.). I am writing this feedback to help other individuals like myself. If you call and are unable to get an appointment setup after a couple of tries, be mindful that it may be a company pattern.

Didn't use them due to poor customer service

The service was provided during a major remodeling project and we were not living in the house. We met with their representative and discussed several options for a location to install a large propane tank which needed to be buried in the ground. We were asked to provide a detailed drawing of where the appliances were located, which included the location of the propane tank. I was contacted and advised that the installation was complete and on my arrival you can imagine my surprise to find that the tank had been installed in a completely random location, not previously discussed. I am not even sure it is entirely on my property. Lucky for me I have a great relationship with my neighbors. I was told that there was nothing we could do now that it was installed. They have delivered propane to us for several years, usually every few months, and only once did they show up 1 month after a delivery and charged me a trip fee for just showing up, because according to them we did not need anything. Recently I needed information on the exact location of the gas lines THEY installed and they told me they had no idea where the gas lines are. They advised me that the homeowner is responsible for knowing where the gas lines were. The lady was very nice and said she would check our file and see if possibly there was a drawing on file. Ironically, she sent me MY original drawing showing me where the tank was SUPPOSED to have been installed. Oh we'll. I might use them again but I would NEVER leave them alone during the install so I would know it was being done according to my wishes.

It took a while to get a callback to set up the service after initially getting a quote, but once I did they showed up within a couple of days and did a great job swapping out the equipment.

The overall experience was frustrating. We felt that Northside Propane should have found a way to respond sooner than they did to the dangerous situation caused by a propane leak. In addition, we felt the confusion over who owned the tank, which was shared by Northside Propane's dispatcher and technicians, was unprofessional.

When we went to use the grill the first time after it was filled with propane the tank was empty. Apparently the technician did not properly reinstall the grill propane tank and somehow it all leaked out.

Their monthly propane tank fill up fees are way higher than other companies. They come by your residence if you ask them to or not and then charge you with transportation.

Responsiveness was initially slow. Started at end of dry season. Had to wait until generator was set, but propane tank blew its mounts when it started raining. Re-did job at no cost when it was dry. Reinstalled tank correctly. Did a fairly good job. Would recommend to other people.
