Response from Mr. Honey-Do
As a proud recipient of the Angie's List Super Service Award for the past three years, we were surprised by this report and felt it necessary to respond. We pride ourselves in being honest, doing quality work, and thoroughly explaining the scope of the work to all of our customers. The facts are as follows: We visited her residence during the first week of June of 2009. Her complaint was that the dryer was not venting properly. We spend approximately one hour troubleshooting the above stated problem (including time spent in the attic). We found the vent pipe to be unattached somewhere in the laundry room's wall. We explained to her that the drywall had to be opened up in an effort to find the trouble spot and then we could move forward with the needed repairs. Our estimate for this job was $575.00 which was communicated to her. She contacted us to approve the job and we set a date for the work to be completed. On June 12, 2009, prior to arriving at her residence, we purchased all the parts which we thought would be necessary for the job. In an effort to reach the vent pipe in the drywall, we had to remove a cabinet which was old, warped, and not very well secured to the wall. We had to cut the drywall in an effort to find the problem. After doing so, we found the problem in the wall, made the necessary repairs, and re-secured the drywall. We also attempted several times to re-install the same cabinet unit above the dryer, however, it was too warped and in too bad of a shape to be put back up in a safe manner. We contacted her via the telephone and explained the circumstances. She asked up to remove the cabinet altogether and hall it away, as she may be purchasing a new one. We then offered to come back and install the new cabinet at no additional charge once it was purchased by her. We cleaned the area, tested the dryer, and cleaned the vent on the roof. Furthermore, we hauled away the old cabinet unit to the city dump for proper disposal. Upon completion, she paid us a total of $575.00 (which was the original agreed upon price) via check #2648 which is documented on invoice number 340257. On that day we had a crew of two guys, who were prepared with the right tools, parts, and knowledge of the job. Including the original time spent on the estimate, travel times, purchasing of materials, actual job time, and travel time to the city dump, a combined effort of over 8 hours were dedicated to this job. We always stand behind our work. We were never contacted by her about any problems about our work or to install the new cabinet. Again, we pride ourselves in being honest, doing quality work, and explaining the scope of the work to all of our customers. We hope not be penalized for being efficient.
