We had an outstanding experience with the installation of our new 16 seer Bryant air conditioner. The Consultant, Tracy Poor, had done his homework before he arrived and knew the size of our home and the unit size we would need to cool it. He was very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. The price was reasonable and the appointment to install was was done in less than a week. The Installers, Tim and Joe L. were a pleasure to have in our home. They were professional, informative and did the installation efficiently. They were also people and dog friendly. Our new unit is cooling as promised and much quieter than the old one. We will definitely recommend Waychoff?s to our friends and neighbors.

The old unit stopped cooling, I called and a service man came out the same day. After he checked out the system and told me what it would take to get it running, I decided to replace it. Later that day Mike Lombardi came over with a portable unit so we would be able to sleep in the room, took measurements and told me the price. I was reasonable. Two days later Tim and Joe L. showed up on time with the new unit and went right to work. They were later joined by two other installers and the job was done in short order. The install was in a closet in on e of the bathrooms, very tight quarters. I informed Mike that all the woodwork had been painted as well as the room and expected that it would not be be damaged by the install. Every thing was great after the work was done.
Description of Work: Replace an old heat pump system. We purchased the 16 year house 14 months ago. The house has two units. Waychoff replaced the bigger unit in January of this year. I have a service contract with them that I purchased at move in.

Felt very uncomfortable with this company when I reviewed the recommendations and pricing after they submitted their inspection report. I felt they were out to try to pry nearly a $1000 or much more out of my hands if I would have given in to their recommendations, particularly if I was to give in and let them install a $4K new unit. From the report they gave me they recommended I replace three components, namely a dual run capacitor, fan motor, and install something called a hard start. So being a mechanic (not a/c), I priced the components online and found out that Waychoff's wanted to charge 8X market prices for the capacitor and more than 3X for the fan motor (for exact OEM parts) I haven't bought the hard start yet but so far I am finding they wanted more than 3X market prices. So in the meantime I decided to replace the exact components p/n's for the parts I bought and saved myself more than $500 than if I let them do the work and I did the work myself in a mere 45 minutes. If that wasn't scary enough on the behalf of Waychoff's dishonesty regarding part pricing, listen to this: I was told if the compressor, which most know as the most expensive component of the system was to go out, I would need to replace the entire system because the age and size of my unit was not readily compatible with today's standards, mainly due to recent EPA standards, etc. I talked with other people I know within my peer work group who have certified industry air conditioning experience and they all concluded that Waychoff's approach was downright predatory. I took the chance being that I heard their radio spots from Neil Boortz on local radio. Luckily in my case I only hired them to do a seasonal check-up and not hire them to replace components. Having now experienced the way this vendor operates, I would not ever recommend anyone do business with them. They are con-artists. I recommend that people hire a reputable independent air conditioning specialist.

We hold our morals and principles in the highest regard, and adhere to them in all that we do. We hire only the top technicians in our industry to insure professionalism and expert service. In no way did we attempt to make you feel intimidated or pressured into buying certain products. No matter the industry, any item being sold by a business is going to have a mark-up. This mark-up is determined by each business to take into account their cost of doing business, and to guarantee a marginal profit. This cost includes things like: their office power bill, employee salaries, telephone bills, gas bills, etc. So yes, you can find parts online that are cheaper. These online parts [Member Name Removed] rarely have executable warranties, because they are not installed by professionally trained technicians. Your “market price” is the price for the item sold by a random person online, uninstalled, and rarely with a warranty. Our prices are very competitive with the industry standard for the North Florida area. As of January 2010, equipment using R-22 refrigerant are no longer being manufactured. Manufacturers of residential heat pumps and central air conditioning systems now offer equipment that uses ozone-friendly replacement refrigerants. That being said, many components are interchangeable between R-22 units and the newer ozone-friendly units. Major components, like a compressor are not interchangeable. Thus, a complete system replacement would be necessary.

The service tech, Jason, was both punctual and very informative; he was quick to point out the available options without attempting to convince us one way or another, and we appreciate that. The cost of service ended-up much higher than what we had anticipated. Given that our unit is very old and had not been properly maintained, this was should not have come as a surprise; however, there were a few problems. To begin with, the air conditioner began shutting off a couple days after the first visit (Friday 24th), the result of newly installed Overflow Safety Switch detecting water. It's important to understand that we did not have a problem with water overflowing prior to the service, and the reason for that may have to do with the extra refrigerant. At any rate, subsequent visits were performed with the same level of professionalism and punctuality. The C rating for pricing would have been the same regardless of quality of service, at $85 per pound of refrigerant it wouldn't be proper to say we were more than just satisfied. As for the B rating for quality, that's better than satisfactory, but quite far from ideal. Some of the discomfort we had to endure could have been prevented with a more thorough inspection, which we don't believe would have required a lot of effort, since the problem after all turned out to be clogged pipes. The fact that we were very open about contracting them for the recommended services, we think should have been enough to warrant a better inspection. On the other hand, they were, as mentioned before, responsive to our needs; for that, good but not outstanding is a fair judgment.

After 2 call attempts and getting an answering machine, I didn't leave a message and decided to go elsewhere because I wanted to get my system up and running before the heat of the day..... To my amazement, Waychoff saw my 'missed calls' and called me - I explained the issue and they got a tech scheduled to arrive within an hour - I had a known Freon leak from my maintenance visit a month ago so that was believed to be the primary culprit. When Wendell, arrived promptly at 8:30am, he did a thorough test, found the issue was not the leak, but a power surge that the system had taken a day before. Wendell did an exceptional job - he showed me step by step what he was doing, what was 'normal' and replaced the surge protector on the outdoor unit which had spared the system by taking the power hit - total cost $86 to replace the surge protector. I want to thank Waychoff for going above and beyond to take care of their customers - I have been a Waychoff customer since 2006 when my old AC unit failed on July 4th weekend while I had a house full of houseguest. I didn't know where to turn and I went to the phonebook and called every AC company in the book- when I called Waychoff, Rick Waychoff answered, showed up to my house on a Sunday morning and scheduled his install crew to my house on Monday morning! Nine years later, I am still pleased with the service - I understand Wendell is a new team member with over 30 years experience - he was exceptional and I'm glad he's a part of the team - thanks Rick, Billy & the Waychoff team!

This was our second time using Waychoff's as we used them to replace a unit from another home. As in the past we sent in a email request for a site visit and estimate over the weekend and the owner promptly called us right away. Install went great although we had a few gremlins that were attributed to a bad thermostat and the technicians had to come out twice. Both calls to Waychoff's were late in the day and it was not a matter of scheduling a time (when) to come from Jacksonville to Fernandina Beach.......they insisted on sending someone out right away to take care of us!! Great company and great service. I could have easily dealt with anyone in the company but it was extremely nice and surprising to see an owner personally set up times over the weekend for his guys to come out for our estimates and perform the AC change out (and to go over changing out the thermostat when it needed it). Based on the great job we received last year we never hesitated using Waychoff's again this year!

How did it go? Well, to begin with, I have had maintenance programs with several AC companies in Jacksonville. And when they left, I've had to turn off water, close gates, pick up screws, and my husband even discovered the AC filter installed incorrectly--yes, the wrong way. So I decided to give Waychoff a try. 4/21 Let me start by saying the unit was running fine before the maintenance visit. FINE, FINE, FINE. 4/21- $ 329.00 Bad Contactor ($180) and cost of Maintenance Program. ($149). Said the Contactor could start a fire unless replaced. OMG, yes, replace it! (Looking back, I wonder if that's a scare tactic they use.) The young man explained his extensive check list and said the unit, after replacing the Contactor was "running good at this time." And he scrolled around on his modern tablet--the very picture of a professional. Then the AC wouldn't keep the house at 75, it would go up to 77 in the afternoon, and then come back down. Then it started going higher in the afternoons as the days got hotter and that's when I called. Something wasn't right. 5/10 $ 0. Serviceman came out, worked outside. NO CHARGE. 5/12 $90 Now we're at $419 total. AC still not cooling in the afternoon. They installed Kickstart and Refrigerant on this visit." The Service Mgr. explained how he was not charging for this or that item, etc. I wanted to ask if he could turn back time to before first visit. 5/13 $422 Now at $841 Still not working. "Removed and Replaced TXV metering device, pumped system down, etc." 5/14 $0. Still not cooling in afternoon. Daniel said it seemed to be okay and would come back if there were any problems. Total spent on AC that had been running fine before Maintenance visit = $841 We cannot help but think that this all started with the initial maintenance visit . Do these Maintenance Techs get paid on commission? I have rarely had a visit from ANY company that didn't say we needed this or that. Secondly, the customer service wasn't the best. We were leaving on the 15th for France and the AC had to be repaired before we left. We were down to hours before our flight. When I called on the 14th, the young woman said no one was available. I explained the situation, said they could come in the middle of the night if they had to, and she replied "Sorry" in a "Sucks to be you" voice. That's when I called back and asked to speak to an owner. Mr. Waycoff was responsive and I appreciate that. But he needs to instruct his office people on Customer Service. Our problems began again with the AC not cooling in the afternoon but we have begun using Kelley's Heating and Air Conditioning. Mr. Kelley came late on a Sunday night, worked in the dark, offered the use of a window unit until the parts came in, doesn't believe in Maintenance Programs, cleaned up, and his wife even called to tell us the status of the repair. He's old school, doesn't try to sell us anything, just works and then cleans up, carefully puts his tools away and lets us know what's going on. No scrolling around on a tablet. Oh, and the insulation that Waychoff quoted us at $1730 we are getting for half the price from North Florida Insulation. I put NA for Price and Quality because, we don't know if it was a good price or a good part--but again, the system was running FINE before they came out. F for Responsiveness after the "sorry" from the woman and that I had to call back to go over her head. They were always on time but every visit was replacing another part so why wasn't it caught before?. So I put NA for professionalism. The service techs were polite and worked--can't complain about their attitude. I will never buy another Maintenance Program again. As Mr. Kelley said, "If it stops working, call me." That's the Maintenance Program for me.

Bottom line up front: I would never look anywhere else for HVAC service. Waychoff's is just outstanding. Details: They installed a Bryant system, which I understand is top-of-the-line. However, what really makes Waychoff's stand out is the people. Wendell was our first experience with Waychoff's. Our old AC stopped working, I called Waychoff's because they were close, and they send Wendell. He found the problem very quickly and repaired it. He could have taken a shortcut but went above and beyond to make sure the repair would last. Because of our experience with Wendell, I asked Waychoff's for an estimate to replace our unit. Mike came to our home, looked at the old system, and gave me several options. He took the time to explain each option. Unlike other experiences I have had, there was absolutely no pressure for me to make a decision on the spot and no pressure to choose the most expensive option. He called me several days later to see if I had any questions. By then, I had done my homework. I chose the most expensive option because I felt it would pay off in the long run. Tim and Joel did the installation. They paid attention to every detail. It was interesting to listen to their discussion while they were working. They were obviously interested in doing the job right instead of doing it quickly. I have never met Mr. Waychoff, but I feel like I know him after talking with his employees. I have never heard people talk about their employer the way they consistently did. He has obviously created an environment that is focused on quality and he has done that in a way that inspires loyalty from his employees. As one of those employees said, "he's one of us". Bottom line again: I will never look anywhere else for HVAC service. Waychoff's is one of the best businesses of any type I have ever encountered.

I was having problems with my AC fan stopping but the unit would still blow hot air. Essentially I just turn it off and back on after 20min. This seems to get it working normally again. I still wanted someone to check it out and a friend recommended Waychoff. They scheduled an appointment for a few days out. Someone was going to come between 10a-12p. Around 1130 I had not heard from anyone and called. They said the tech was having an issue with another unit and it would delay their arrival at my house. So I was called back and told someone would arrive between 3-5p. So I waited even longer at my house on my day off and no one showed up then either. I got a call at 730p that evening from the tech saying he just got word that I was next. No thanks! I just spent the entire day at my house waiting on my day off. Very disappointed to say the least.

Our home ac unit wasn't working properly in the afternoon. We had the company that installed the unit out to try and repair\r the issue. They tried 3 or 4 times to attempt to repair the unit with no luck. We called Waychoff for a 2nd opinion. The tech verified what was wrong with the unit and also told us that the previous repairs done by the other company had caused the TXV to go bad. Waychoff was able to fix the unit right the 1st time and we have had cold ac since

Very bad customer service with Tech and the owner not returning my call to discuss my displeasure.,
Description of Work: Very disappointed with Steve the Tech who came to my house to do a yearly maintenance of my inside air handler and outside condenser unit. Steve was very rude and did not want to explain to us an issue problem and why the issue was occurring. The other Techs from this company in the past were fine. I tried to call the owner to discuss the issue and, he (Rick) himself, would not call me back. Very disappointing because I don't like to write this types of reviews.

Scott Liner and the installers, Ben and Doug, were great to work with. Scott was very transparent about our options for our new system and did not try to up sell us on options. He was objective and informative. Ben and Doug took about six hours to remove the existing system and install the new system. They were friendly, hard working and efficient. They were a good team. The system has been running for a week and humidity is being much better managed thus reducing the time needed by the system to cool our home. The old system required us to set the thermostat at 76 and now it cools to our comfort at 79. We expect our summer electric bill to decline $50-75 a month.

Waychoff has been out to my home on 3 separate occasions since my 8/3/14 purchase of a Amana 18 SEER unit. The first visit was in October 2014 for not cooling, then May 2015-not cooling and then 6/3/15 (tech was at my home until after 9 pm) & 6/4/15 for the same issue of not cooling. During the 6/4 visit I was informed that it was not the motherboard and that the fan motor needed to be ordered from the manufacturer and that someone would be out tomorrow to install the fan motor. I called Waychoff at 8 am this morning to find out the status of my repair job and was informed by a pleasant woman named Erin that they had to order the part and it may not come in until Monday. I was thoroughly disappointed by that news. I chose Waychoff against recommendations to use a different vendor and am feeling sorry today after enduring a very hot home since Wednesday and an apparent inability to properly diagnose and resolve the AC malfunction.Not to mention too many service calls for a brand new system that's 10 months old. This is unacceptable and certainly not what I bargained for from a product with a 9,500 plus price tag. I am concerned that this may be a glimpse into the future of this system.....if I am having this many problems at 10 months I can only imagine what 5-10 years may resemble. Since Wednesday (6/3/15) of this week I have been without a functioning AC unit it is Friday (6/5/15) my home is ninety degrees indoors and no Waychoff solution....
Description of Work: Technician came out for the third time since date of purchase August 3, 2014 for the same problem -- AC not cooling . He thought it was the motherboard and perhaps a surge caused the motherboard to be affected; however he later determined that it was the fan motor that was the cause of the AC unit not cooling the home. It is interesting to note that 2 different technicians stated that this systems is very sensitive and that bad weather could cause it to malfunction......I wish the salesman would have disclosed this information. I would have bought a Trane or Carrier.

I put some details in the other section as I found them to be overlapping. 'The company's staff was courteous & respectful. The technician was as well as well as being knowledgable and efficient. He got the AC running, checked all parts of the unit and offered suggestions to me to improve my maintenance of same. Mission accomplished efficiently and he left within the hour. Service was an advertised special on Angie's List. Technician said that the fan motor for the condenser unit was drawing too much current and that it would cost about $500 to replace it. I scheduled another AC tuneup with a different company also advertised on Angie's List. This technician did not find any problem with the condenser fan but said that a capacitor in the air handler was reading low and that it would cost about $100 to replace it. (First technician didn't identify the capacitor as being a problem.) Now I'm confused which is the cause for an overall B rating. Shouldn't technicians from 2 of the most highly rated HVAC companies on Angie's List come to similar conclusions regarding the status of the same system? If not, then how does the homeowner make an informed decision on what repairs are needed?

I searched for a business to install two new air conditioning systems in my house for over a year. Since Waychoffs was rated so well, I decided to have them come visit and submit to me an estimate. When the representative visited, he was very informative, pleasant and professional. When Waychoffs installed the two systems in my home, I could not have been more pleased. The technicians were on time, professional and worked hard to ensure my systems were installed correctly. They did not even take a lunch break. When the system was installed, the technician found there was a faulty valve. Within 24 hours it was replaced with a smile. I am so pleased I chose Waychoffs.

Not very well.
Description of Work: Had an 8 A.M. appointment from a maint agreement I purchased on 11/09/14. No one showed up. No phone calls from them. At 8:15 A.M. I called them and was told that the tech was just now picking up the order. What is the point of scheduling an appointment if they don't show up on time or even call to tell you they are going to be late. My time is just as important as theirs. I took time off from work to be here. Never again.

Technician was punctual and proceeded to go through all of his checks, with me looking over his shoulder. Seemed like he gave honest and common sense advice and information. It was quick and painless, and I would definitely recommend this company.

Called Waychoff to get a HVAC part (A trunk line). A receptionist answered the phone and was very polite. I asked if I could buy a duct trunk from them (which is a standard part in the HVAC industry). She needed to check with her parts manager and when she returned, she told me I could not buy it from them. I said that was fair, however, would they tell me where they buy this part from in Jacksonville so I can buy it directly. They told me they get them from many places. I asked kindly for just one place, so I can get the part, and they would not provide a distributor, told me to go to Home Depot (Which they know, as well as I know, does not offer the part). Guess if they can't make a dollar on the deal they have no interest in helping you solve your problem.

My technician Jason called to inform me he was on his way. Jason was friendly. He took time to explain everything he did. He presented all of my options to me, and their costs, and didn't pressure me to make any decisions. Very good experience.

The service was excellent! The staff was friendly and professional. Scott answered all of my questions and provided me with a clear understanding of the product and installation process.
