I did not like their care. I was concerned about the cost and only wanted to do what was necessary. She wanted me to fill the prescription but I told her I wanted to shop around. She seemed annoyed and her customer service skills were lacking. They said it would only talk a half hour but it was closer to an hour and a half before my dog was seen. My dog was still getting sick afterwards. I was able to take my dog to another veterinarian who was able better help the situation.

They are very professional and I think they have great doctors on staff. Their reputation precedes them. My veterinarian actually recommend their ophthalmologist to me. It was easy to schedule and the price was what I was expecting. The facility was nice, clean, and well organized.

The doctor was good and knew what he was doing.

I have SERIOUS CONCERNS about the quality and safety of veterinary care at Hollywood Animal Hospital. As part of my new puppy's first vet visit, a stool sample was obtained. Two days after my visit, I received a phone call indicating that the results of the fecal sample were abnormal. They identified worms in the feces which are almost never found in puppies. The vet tech who called me indicated that this result was highly unusual and concerning, and that it could possibly be explained by an error in which my puppy's and an older dog's FECAL SAMPLES WERE ACCIDENTALLY SWITCHED. In order to verify the test results and potential error, I was asked to bring a new fecal sample in to the clinic. I collected my puppy's poop and brought it in first thing the next day. When i arrived, THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION IN MY PUPPY'S CHART about the abnormal results, and no documentation that I was to bring another sample in. I had to repeat the telephone conversation I had with the vet tech the night before and explain the possible error multiple times to the receptionist before they would even accept the sample without payment. I understand that errors can occur. What is most upsetting is that a potentially serious error was identified and that absolutely no documentation was made in my dog's chart. If an abnormal result is not documented (nonetheless a potential error), how can I trust Hollywood Animal Hospital with my dog's healthcare?

Dr. Swinger is very down to earth and caring. He was extremely thorough with his exam. I also found him to be very concerned about my cat's welfare, and they even followed up after the initial exam. He was very accessible when I needed to speak with him or his staff. They are absolutely top-notch, and he is great. He helped me create the right treatment plan for my cat, and even sent my records to my regular vet so they could be in the loop on what was going on. They were very accommodating. I love Dr. Swinger, and I think he is absolutely brilliant, accessible, and I enjoy working with him.

I thought they did a wonderful job. They also took care of the cremation services.

The doctor at Hollywood Animal Hospital recommended chemotherapy for my dog, but I didn't want to put her through that, so I didn't end up pursuing their course of treatment. Their place is immaculate and extremely clean. I have no complaints.

My dog had been misdiagnosed by another hospital. My previous vet who is no longer practicing recommended Hollywood to us. They were great. They are thorough with their examinations. They didn't just look at her and give a diagnosis. We could tell within 24 hours that she was improving. They were really interested in making sure my dog got better instead of getting more money for tests. I would recommend them.

They did a very good job, and provided great customer service. There were rebates on the flea and heartworm medications I purchased there, and they addressed and stamped the envelopes containing the rebate forms, and sent them to the manufacture on my behalf. One of the vets in the practice is very well renowned for teeth cleaning. They also have very state of the art equipment and do laser surgery. They have a great facility.

My experience was excellent. If I could give them an A+ instead of an A, I would.

On the first visit they examined my dog and took a biopsy of the "weird growth". Not cancerous but still recommend it be removed. Made an appointment and dropped my dog off at the morning of the surgery. Dr. Patterson called me before and after surgery to give me updates. Picked my dog up later that day. All went fine. Dr. Patterson did an outstanding job (thank you!). I thought the price was very reasonable considering biopsy, full anesthetics, surgery and teeth cleaning. Would recommend to any pet owner.

They are nice and professional. I was late to my appointment by about an hour because I thought my appointment time was later than it actually was and they still saw us! I was impressed by that. They also explained the differences in medications by performance and cost, which no other vet has done. The hospital/clinic is in an older building, so it has that "bee

They were able to give me an appointment quickly (within 24 hours of calling). The receptionist that answered the phone had no personality. She couldn't find my information (to move a scheduled later appointment to an early time). But the review was so good on Angie's List, I decided to give it a try anyway. We got there and the atmosphere was not very welcoming. It's like a hospital waiting room. I told the staff my info and again, she couldn't find it. She asked me to fill out the form and give her the driver's license. So I did and I still was not sure if they found my dog's info. Then they couldn't find the medical record that was faxed over by my previous vet from a day before. The experience was horrible. Then someone came and took us to a room after it seemed like forever (in reality probably 20 minutes). They did not seem too interested in the pets that were there. The staff all hide behind the counter and had very little interaction with the dog or ask about the dog (all the dogs that were in the waiting room). When we were in the exam room, the tech came in and the one time she touched my dog was when she tried to take the temperature. Not once did she bend down to look at him and he really is the patience. Then the doctor came in. I like the doctor. She talks very fast but seems very knowledgable. After a short exam, she diagnosed the problem and sent us out to the cashier. The cashier was cold and you could tell that she did not want to be there. She never smiled once, nor did she address the owner when they approached her to pay. She did not look at anyone in the eyes. And she certainly made it very clear that she did not care. I will never go back the that place again and frankly, I don't know why they got such good review on this supposedly page. Oh, they also have a place on their form to see if you are referred by Angie's List which looks suspicious to me anyway. Give them a try if you like, but I that was my experience.

Dr. Shapiro was great, he took excellent care of my cat.

My very ill pet had been declining for weeks, and apparently had a heart attack/stroke and was seizing. It was very early in the AM, and Hollywood Animal Hospital is the nearest emergency vet center. I took my animal in, explained what had been going on, and said it was time to put her out of her misery and let her die peacefully. She was immediately rushed to the back, two minutes later a vet came out, I explained what was going on. The vet ran to get things together in the back, brought my pet back into the room, and caringly put my pet down, talking to her the entire time, explaining to the pet (and me) what she was doing. I have had many pets and I do a lot of pet rescue work; I have used Hollywood Animal Hospital as my emergency after hours vet for years. I have always found the vets and staff to be caring, efficient and professional. Hollywood Animal Hospital always has vets on hand, unlike a number of other emergency clinics who only staff with vet techs after hours. Hollywood Animal Hospital also has specialist vets in just about every category, and do most x-rays and blood testing in-house, giving you quicker results and enabling them to treat your pet quicker. Were they closer to my home (they are 15 miles away from my home), I would definitely use them as my regular vet.

The service was excellent. The intern doctor, Dr. Carson, was excellent. I was happy with their care.

I have used them before. They had taken care of a dog of mine, which had died. They were very good about that. They are a teaching hospital , and they have a very good emergency procedure. They were very sensitive to how difficult it was. They were very forthright in explaining what they were going to do, and how they were going to do it. They were very quick about it.

They are outstanding, have great service and a great doctor, and the prices are good. They greyhound racing clubs use them. They have interns that stay overnight with the dogs who can also respond to calls. In the past I had taken my dog to another veterinarian who wasn’t able to diagnose my dog. I brought the dog here and the doctor was able to quickly diagnose it.

I considered the Dr's recommendations and decided to start with the least expensive and invasive procedure which was to have a steroid treatment. I made an appointment and waited for an hour before inquiring about the delay. I could see their confusion and that this place was poorly managed relative to their volume of business. After about another ten minutes I was brought into the examining room and waited for Dr Larry Dee. He greeted me by saying he thought I was a "no show." To that I replied I was waiting for over an hour in his waiting room. He didn't acknowledge or apologize for my time being wasted. He asked if I had forwarded the x rays for consultation to my dog's regular vet in NY and we spoke about stem cell therapy which she had used to treat her own dog. Since they didn't perform that procedure he offered to have me speak with his brother Dr. John Dee who was more familiar with orthopedic surgery and the latest procedures. When Dr John came in he too spoke with me about the dog's condition. Ultimately he asked if I had anything more and I said I had come in to have a steroid treatment. He looked surprised as his brother apparently didn't know or say anything to him. More confusion and disorganization. He asked if the dog had eaten and I said yes but Dr Larry told me he didn't believe the dog would need anesthesia since he was so calm and well behaved. He checked wit Dr Larry who now had either gone to lunch or didn't want to do the procedure. He suggested we reschedule and didn't charge me for the visit. I made an appointment for the next day and then canceled to give more consideration to my options. I ultimately decided to schedule the surgery and called to make an appointment. I was told Dr John handles his own schedule and would get back to me. I was called by someone in his office a few days later and informed that Dr John would like to have another 5 to 7 hundred dollars worth of x rays before he went forward with surgery. I informed his office that the only reason I was still considering using them was because I already spent 500 on x rays and they were relatively familiar with the problem. I said I would find another veterinarian. I did go elsewhere and had the stem cell therapy performed on my dog. I'm waiting to see if it has been successful or another treatment may be needed.

Took our youngest dog in for annual exam, first set of adult vaccines, license and purchased heart worm preventative. Vaccines are good for 3 years so the cost for the next 2 annual visits will be much less. This is a regular routine for us and has been for nearly 10 years with this vet. Dr. Sessa is a fabulous doctor and a great friend to our family. The wait time is never very long and Dr and staff are always pleasant. Dr. Sessa always takes his time with us and answers any questions. He is aware of the financial stress of having pets and goes out of his way to keep things affordable for us. Dr. Tom Sessa and staff are very important to our family and we treasure the relationship with them.

My 9 year-old cat fell off a 5th floor balcony on to concrete( for the 2nd time) around midnight and was in bad shape. I put her in her carrier and took her to the Hollywood Animal Hospital as I knew it was open 24 hours daily. They worked very hard to determine the extent of her injuries and recommended she be put down as she was so bad. I just couldn't do it. So they worked very hard to save her, but she kept going into cardiac arrest, and I finally told them to let her go. They were very kind and compassionate. I had taken her there the first time she fell 3 years earlier and they fixed her right up. I also took 2 other cats there when they were very ill and they pulled through just fine. I always found the staff to be pleasant and professional. They have enough staff so you don't have to wait too long to be seen, and the place always smells 'clean'-which a lot of vets' offices don't. I usually go to a place closer to home, but when its real trouble they send you over here anyway, and I've always been pleased.

I have used this veterinarian for 11 years. They have been incredible! They have nursed my dog through some severe, life-threatening illnesses and events and we are so grateful for all the outstanding services they have provided through the years. I will use them again without question!
