When the appointment was scheduled, we were given a 4 hour window. Washington called to let us know he was on his way about 20-30 min. away. Our 8 year old refrigerator stopped dispensing ice. All of the other features worked fine. Washington ran a couple of diagnostic tests and determined that the control board needed to be replaced. It took about 35 min. for the repair and we have a 1 year warranty for the part. He was very professional and we would definitely use him again in the future!

This review is being submitted by Barry Lindelof. Roommate of the Angie's account owner. On 11/14, 2 technicians were dispatched to my residence. They called 20 minutes prior to their arrival. They were very professional and diagnosed my oven issue as a broken temperature dial. They said the part would take approx. a week to arrive as it was a Kenmore part and would need to be ordered. On 11/25, I was called to schedule an appt. to complete the repair. Even though I was not available to answer the phone, the woman proceeded to schedule an appt for the next day and left a message for me to call and confirm that appt. Since it was the day before Thanksgiving, she advised that I would need to confirm ASAP as she could not hold that appt time for long. I called back immediately and confirmed the appt. On 11/26, the same 2 technicians arrived and replaced the faulty temperature control. They completed their work within 20 minutes of arriving. My oven is now operating normally. A big thanks to this company for their outstanding customer service. i will definitely be hiring this company again!

Clearly, such a high repair cost was not justified when new machines don't cost too much more than that, as Kevin readily agreed. $20 for the service call and he was on his way. Would have been a lot more for any other company to tell us the same thing. This will be our go-to company for appliance repairs from now on.
Description of Work: I called at about 9:30 a.m. to schedule a service call for our Maytag washing machine. I was advised that a tech could be here between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. At 12:35 p.m., Kevin was walking in our door. He diagnosed that the 8-year old machine's clutch was blown (as we had suspected based upon what was happening) and stated that unfortunately, doing the repair on this machine would be a 2-person job and would cost $540.

When I contacted AAA Century Appliance, they were able to dispatch a technician to provide a repair estimate. The technician was running late and kept me updated on his estimated time of arrival. He was then able to check out the problem and order the part. A few days later I received a call that the part was available and an appointment to complete the repair was scheduled for November 3 between 8 AM and 12 PM. When no technician arrived at my home or telephone I called the office. Due to a computer error my apointment was not scheduled. However, I was told a tecnician would complete the repair the same day between before 6 PM. Sure enough a technician arrive at about 6 PM and completed the repair. Due to the appointment mix up, an additional $15 was deducted from the bill. Very nice. I would use AAA Century Appliance again. The office staff was very courteous on the telephone and the technician was very knowledgeable and professional.

It was a great experience. The first day, 2 technicians came on time ( they had called to tell me they were on their way). They were polite, careful and wore very clean uniforms. They cleaned the refrigerator condenser coil. It really needed it! The previous owner had 2 dogs and it was full of dog hair. They determined the problems with the ice maker and the top oven. The parts had to be ordered. One of the technicians came back 1 week later to finish the job. He was very professional, answered all my questions and installed everything very carefully. I highly recommend this company!

At first i was truly impressed with the gentlemen on the phone. I scheduled the appt. The technician came prepared, and when the part replaced only needed a belt the repairman told me $165!!!!! (Charging $120 for the service call that took 20 minutes) And that was WITH the $15 coupon. I said that was ridiculous, and then said what if i did nothing and bought the belt myself - the repairman said, it will cost you 19.99, and you could find the belt and would have to do it yourself. I told the guy - that if he couldn't get it to under $100, to forget it, i will call someone else, and pay your $20 and negotiate a price that will save me well over $100. It took TWO MINUTES, and the price was in half?????? The Angie's list, the ad, even the answering operator makes it sound like it will only cost $19.99 plus a part. SO - buyer beware that they may come out and want to charge you $120 service fee PLUS the $19.99 PLUS the part and then less the $15 - and you will have to haggle to get a price that is reasonable and customary. I was SHOCKED. They were knowledgeable, friendly, experts in their field even - but the bait and switch on the pricing was BS! The fact that i had to haggle was BS, and the fact that i might have had to schedule someone else because you are sitting there with - do i repair it now, or wait and save money and go through more hassle is staring you in the face.

First, I would like to identify myself as Washington, the technical supervisor with whom you spoke with regarding your appliance problem. While I am pleased that you were satisfied, even impressed with the assistance I was able to provide, after reading your review, I would like to personally respond, accept responsibility, and explain our position of the service in question. Here at AAA Century Appliance, we have 3 company policies that are extremely important and apply to how your service request was handled. #1 It is our policy to explain what a service call and service call fee are. It does not happen often but sometimes a new client will mistake the $19.99 service call fee for the actual repair cost. We have this policy in place to help prevent any misunderstanding. Our web site displays the definition: A service call fee is a non refundable fee companies charge to send a technical professional to your residence to diagnose a reported malfunction of your appliance. Our regular service call fee is $45.00 - $65.00 per appliance, however, as stated on Angie's List as well as our web site, we currently have the promotion of $19.99 per appliance. This is not a gimmick but simply a really good deal. It is especially important that we take the time to explain this to AGL clients' because we also offer them an exclusive coupon of $15.00 off the repair cost. Sometimes there is expectation that with the $19.99 service call that they would receive the additional $15.00 off as well, bringing the total repair to $4.99. Of course this is not the case, which is why we clarify before offering an appointment. The young woman who initially answered your call did not get the opportunity to explain this. She transferred you to my office seeking assistance in answering some of your more technical questions and concerns. Once we completed our conversation, I transferred you back to her desk. I also forwarded your personal contact information (phone number, address, etc) along with instructions to offer you the first availability in your area. She simply followed my instructions and offered you the appointment for that same afternoon. #2 It is our policy not to provide estimates over the phone without hands on inspection and testing of the appliance. The reason for this is obvious. We are imagining, to the best of our experience and knowledge, the problem and possible solution based on information provided to us over the telephone. It can be rather difficult (if not impossible) at times to accurately diagnose and provide a solution without testing or observing the condition of the malfunctioning appliance firsthand. We understand that sometimes a customer would want to avoid the cost of a physical inspection, so on occasion, after extensive conversation and research, a supervisor will give a client a general idea of the potential cost a repair could fall within. Regardless, It is still essentially an educated guess based on limited information and the room for error is a risk we try to avoid. In this particular case you provided a lot of information that was helpful; the advanced age and condition of the unit, previous problems and repairs you had completed, etc. The reason this policy applies to this circumstance is that when the work request was sent to the technician I included detailed information about the appliance, I preordered the part from our warehouse, and I included what I believed was a fair and reasonable estimate for the repair you and I discussed. Unfortunately, the technician read the notes as a confirmed estimate and not a guideline. After reading my notes again, I can see how he could have thought this. It was only after he confirmed my telephone diagnosis, completed the repair, and presented you with the invoice that he was made aware you were not given the estimate in advance. Which leads me to #3, it is our policy that all technicians must provide an estimate to the client for approval after diagnosis and prior to the repair commencing. Once the mistake was discovered the technician immediately called the administrative office to report the error and obtain instructions. After speaking to him about the mistake I made the decided that the company would have to take a loss in order to make things right. The price you paid is dramatically less then the industry rate for the service performed. As you pointed out during our initial conversation, the appliance was extremely old which presented an additional challenge to take apart and reassemble due to rust of key components. Still, the technician was instructed to put the customer first and only charge what the customer (you) felt you were comfortable with and the company would absorb the difference. Customer satisfaction is our top priority and if we happen to make a mistake (such as not providing you the price before completing a repair ) we will do our best to make it right. The $85.00 you agreed to pay did not cover the cost for the company to perform the repair and no profit was made. The repair is still guaranteed with a 1 year warranty on the part. The company accepting what you felt comfortable with paying was simply the intention of making right on our policy, not a dishonest act of "bait and switch". If the technician had presented you with the estimate for your approval prior to the repair and you declined to move forward, you would have only been charged the $19.99 diagnostic fee. He would not have had the authority to lower the price. This has always been our company policy. It is also stated on the invoice he gave you above your signature. In closing, I would like to add that I understand why, in this day and age, you would find yourself questioning our intentions. Occasionally a new client will express suspicion about our promotion or explain they have had an unpleasant experience with service companies in the past. Unfortunately, honest, upfront service in all industries has declined and just about everyone has experienced being "taken" advantage of at one time or another, myself included. In this instance though, I can assure you, it was not the case. Again, I want to apologize for my complacency of not following our own policies which led to confusion and ultimately avoidable mistakes. We did not provide the best service to you and as the supervisor who spoke to you and created your work order I accept full responsibility. We read all our reviews with the intent of learning from our mistakes. Everyone is accountable from our management division to our technical staff as well as administrative department. which is why, I am personally offering our apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced. After checking the dishwasher out, Washington, found the problem. He unjammed the motor and he also secured the unit to the counter top. I thought the price of $90.00 was reasonable since a new dishwasher would have cost much more. I will definitely call him again with any other appliance problems.

On 9/18, Bruno from AAA Century came to fix our refrigerator problem. He arrived on time (called ahead to confirm that he would arrive as promised) and did a thorough analysis of the refrigerator. He explained what he was doing and why and what the source of the problem was - circuit board failure. He promptly replaced the circuit board, confirmed that the new board and the compressor were working correctly, cleaned the the area and repositioned the refrigerator. Bruno was timely, polite, thorough and carefully explained the problem, the solution and what to expect in terms of when the freezer compartment would be fully cooled again. We are very pleased with the work performed and how Bruno dealt with us. We would recommend AAA and Bruno to anyone.

It went pretty well. He said that it will cost me about $400 to get a repair of the washer. He told me that he would recommend that I probably go ahead and just get a new one. The cost of the repair would be the same. The guy didn't try to milk me. He was honest.

We just bought a new house and our refridgerator stopped working after one week. AAA Century was able to accomodate us same day. The technician, Kevin was very friendly and took time to explain everything to me. After it was all said and done (he spent several hours trying different parts making 3 separate trips), he determined that the cost to repair wasn't worth it to repair and recommended just purchasing a new refridgerator. Unforntunately, we have to purchase a new fridge, but they honored the $19 Consult fee and it's all we paid after all the time Kevin spent. I appreciate the honesty of this company and the level of courtesy and professionalism they treated us with. I would definitly call them again.

I would definitely call them again. They diagnosed the issue was the starter/knob said it would take a couple of days has to pick it up at the warehouse. To my surprise the same day. He called back said was at the warehouse found the part and could he come back today to fix it. Nobody does things like that. So in one day I was able to get my Dryer working again. Definitely they live up to their A rating

It was taking multiple cycles for my dryer to dry clothing. I called AAA Century Repair and they came the same day. The technicians were friendly and knowledgeable. They reviewed my dryer and told me the dryer was working correctly and that the root cause was likely buildup in my dryer vent. They told me to run the dryer once or twice without the vent hooked up and if the dryer heated properly, the vent was the cause and I should call a company that specializes in dryer vent cleanout. I did and the problem is fixed. Best of all, AAA Century only charged me for the service call.!! I would DEFINITELY call them again - their honesty won me over.

I called the company and they said someone would be out today. Washington, the Repairman called ahead and said he could come earlier than promised. He was very clean and neat and wiped his feet before coming into the house. He inspected the Refrigerators and gave me a price ,of which i though was fair,so he got to work. He had all the parts on his truck and the work was completed with in an hour. He also cleaned up after himself. It was a pleasure to deal with this company and i will definitely use then again. Highly professional office staff who helped set an appointment window of 4 hours. When I called at 8am on the day of the appointment, they were able to narrow down an appointment time and agree to a phone call 30 min in advance so I would not need to sit home for hours. Technician arrived as scheduled and was courteous and professional in explaining the repair. I love the fixed price service appointment that was applied to the cost of the repair when I scheduled it for the following week. Again, the technician arrive on time and completed the repair. Friday afternoon at 1pm my refrigerator started sounding like a jackhammer. Of course this happens right before the weekend. I looked up appliance repair services on Angie's List and called this one that had excellent ratings. I was highly doubtful, but asked if they had anything available that afternoon. She said they didn't but they could come tomorrow which was great! (No big hefty weekend charge either)!! The lady who answered the phone was very friendly and was kind enough to explain to me what the noise may have been, which enabled me to stop it until the repair man arrived the next day. Kevin was the repair man, and he arrived on time and was extremely friendly. He quickly diagnosed the problem and told me it would be $80 to repair, I said "Go for it". I thought that was a pretty good price even though I don't know much about refrigerators. I found Kevin to be very friendly, professional and efficient. My daughter is coming in two days with her one-year old twins . . . and the washing machine conks out over the weekend. So I called shortly after 0800 this morning, and was given one of those "between noon and five" this afternoon appointments. Well, around 2 the technician called that he was about 20 minutes out. Very nice guy. To fix a washing machine today you have to be a computer repairman as well, but in about 45 minutes he had diagnosed the problem, replaced the motor speed sensor, and gone. I am both pleased and relieved. I KNEW he'd have to order a part that would have to come from California via mule team, but no, he had the part, he fixed the machine, and now the babies' stuff can be washed. Thank you AAA. OH! And I got $15 off the bill because of Angie's List. Thank all y'all.

They called ahead and were on time. The repairman slid out the dishwasher and replaced a worn pulley rope that connects to the door spring to keep the door from dropping down. He was done in 15 minutes. I thought $130 was excessive for such a simple repair.

Technician (Bruno) was a professional and as it turns out, trusted adviser. He analyzed the problem with my Bosch dishwasher and gave me guidance which he knew would send me shopping for a new machine rather than a repair. This took business away from his shop - but it remained the right thing to do. I am pleased to see people that do the right thing. Thank you for this opportunity to respond to a clients complaint and negative review. Being an A rated company on Angie’s List for many years is an honor and important to us. Below is the timeline and history of all services provided to the (member name removed) Residence. Attachments of the signed service invoices are included as documentation. On 08/02/2013 The (member name removed) residence contacted AAA Century Appliance at 10:02pm for service on a GE DRYER. The complaint was that the Dryer was not drying or heating. Our answering service took the call (see attached picture) On 08/03/2013 The following morning, our staff contacted (member name removed) to offer her an appointment. At this time she confirmed that her unit was not heating or drying. On 08/06/2013 The technician diagnosed the unit’s “heating element” was broken and needed to be replaced. The technician provided the(member name removed) with the estimate to complete the repair (including the $15.00 AGL discount.) The (member name removed) approved the estimate, paid a $100.00 deposit, and requested the repair be completed as soon as possible.. (signed service invoice attached) On 08/08/2013 The technician returned to the residence and replaced the heating element. The unit was then re-tested and the repair completed. (member name removed) signed the invoice with payment stating the repair was completed to her satisfaction and the unit was heating again. (signed service invoice attached) 4 months later, On 12/15/2013 The (member name removed) residence contacted AAA Century Appliance for service on their GE DRYER, this time with the complaint of a loud noise that sounded like a “screw was loose inside the unit”. On 12/16/2013 The technician diagnosed that the noise was coming from a damaged motor and drum bearing. The technician researched the parts needed and provided (member name removed) with a quote to complete the repair (including a $15.00 discount as a return customer) (member name removed) declined to go forward with the repair for the noise issue. Note: The original repair on 08/08/2013 for the heating element was 100% intact and working fine. (signed service invoice attached) On 12/19/2013 (member name removed) contacted AAA Century Appliance to ask if we would “buy back” the heating element we installed on 08/08/2013 as she had decided she was going to replace her dryer. She asked if AAA Century Appliance we would "buy back her used heating element at a reduced cost". to use again. Our offices informed her that the used heating element would not be of use to us. as we only replace New Original Manufacture OEM parts with in our repairs. (member name removed) told our staff member that since she was an Angie’s List Customer that we should try to make her happy. Again our staff advised we could not buy back her element. (member name removed) called again and asked if AAA Century Appliance would replace her refrigerator door gasket “for free” since she felt her dryer should not have “broken down” 4 months after our repair and that we should “help her out”. Again (member name removed) reminded our staff member that as an Angie's List customer and that we should “work with her” to “make her happy” and said she would leave a review if we did not. Our office's explained that the repair we completed in August had not failed that her current complaint was of a noise issue., not an heating issue. She was advised that we could not issue a refund or fix other appliances for free simply because she was an Angie’s List Member. We value all of our client’s including our Angie’s List customers, however, this does not entitle them to free services against the “threat” of getting a negative review. She then asked to speak to a supervisor. Our staff advised her a supervisor would call her within 24 hours. On 12/20/2013, After having reviewed the history of the initial repair as well as the new complaint of noise, the technical supervisor , Mr. Damasio, determined that (member name removed) demands were not justified and her warning to post a negative review unless we "made her happy" was unfair to the company and it's employees. Mr. Damasio called (member name removed) and again explained that we could not refund her for the initial repair as the heating element we replaced was working properly. He offered a discount on the bearing replacement but (member name removed) declined the discount. On 06/25/2014 and 07/02/2014 (10-11 months after the heater replacement) AAA Century Appliance was informed by an Angie’s List Representative that the (member name removed) had posted a negative review and also filed a complaint against AAA Century Appliance requesting a refund for the heater replacement provided on 08/08/2013. We were asked to provide a detailed response and an explanation of the services rendered. We have explained our position with hope of having the issue resolved with fairness for both (member name removed) and our staff who provided professional and courteous service..

They were able to diagnose the problem (although it took a while). They had to order a special part from the manufacturer (LG) that was shipped from overseas. They told me the part was damaged in transit and called me the morning of my scheduled appointment to let me know they had discovered the issue. They already reordered another part and rescheduled my appt for a few days later. Installation went smoothly and the problem has now been resolved.

Initial contact with company was impressive;they were professional and friendly. Bruno arrived promptly; he examined the machine and diagnosed the issue within 5 minutes. He informed us that the part needed for repair was not in stock and set expectations for timeframe to order and receive. He committed to coming back in 2 days and came back as promised and repaired machine and tested it successfully.

We have a KitchenAid french door refrigerator/freezer (freezer on the bottom/ice on the refrigerator door). I awoke this morning to find puddles of water (melted ice) on the floor and most things in the freezer warming up and the compressor was whirring like crazy. Washington and Kevin showed within an hour of my call and immediately deduced that the compressor had been coated with ice. The thermostat was shot and wasn't able to defrost efficiently. They replaced it, defrosted the coils, tested the other components,, and all is well. The frozen yogurt is safe. Washington and Kevin were very knowledgeable, professional and took the time to explain to me exactly what wasn't working and why. I was very pleased with their service.
