Air America A/C Heating & Refrigeration LLC

The air conditioner began cooling after he changed the fuse in the breaker panel. However, I had another problem about four days later and had to call another company to check it. It was a problem that I was having with my washing machine which wouldn't start its cycles. So I had to call a different company to check it out. Again the repairman told me that it needed a new breaker fuse (the exact repair that the Air America repairman had done.) He, too, also installed a new fuse on the breaker panel and showed me that he had taken it out of the original location and moved it to another location on the panel. The charge for this same exact repair was $132.50! Quite a difference in charges for the exact same repair for both problems. When I called Air America, they refused to do anything about it telling me that I had signed the bill. I tried to dispute it on my credit card but eventually spoke to a woman in Air America's Customer Service department who simply told me they would not do anything about refunding me any money. As a result, I felt taken advantage of and would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone as they appear to be unscrupulous.

Then when I paid for $900.00 extended service warranty... They came out on friday to have to fix a refrigerant leak... said they wouldn't fix part till Monday... Then my AC goes out again for lack of cooling refrigerant and they have audacity to want to charge me for emergency service and freon which I already paid for 30 days ago when they couldn't find the leak.... And they topped me off w freon on Friday its now Sunday and Hot again..... And I paid for the service $150 30+ days ago on top of the $900 extended service... HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!!!!!

The workers showed up on time for our scheduled installation. The two men were courteous and cleaned up all the debris after they were done. They had the unit installed and working in one day. I also liked the salesman, who examined our unit before offering several different options along with his recommendations.

Air America assured me that the value is within the company your purchase from. Rest assured they were right! Turns out the TRANE unit I purchased had some bad parts. I was without air for two days, luckily it has been cool out. They came back and changed out the parts free of charge and we're up and running.

I purchased a maintenance package. Provider had to repair my AC for an additional cost, but none of the maintenance items was performed.

It went well. Person came was nice and took care, but some reson they didn't add enough freeon so ,I have to call them again to fix and still I am not completely happy.They were more interested to sell me new one.

Not good. The first technician misdiagnosed the problem so when they came to install that part it did not solve the problem. The second technician diagnosed the problem but had to wait for the part for a second time. I called the office and the person who answered the phone was very rude. I should not of had to pay for the diagnosis because of their error which required my son in law to take off 2 days of work. And the price for two completely parts was exactly the same. How can that be?

All I needed was to have my AC unit serviced before summertime. The technician proceeded right away to tell me that my AC needed to be replaced to the tune of $5,000. After servicing my AC the technician said maybe I could get by with just having the condenser replaced for only $1,500. There was nothing wrong with my AC. After the technician left my AC would kick on and off about every minute. I was furious. I had a different AC company come out and immediately noticed that the previous technician had over filled my AC with coolant. All the unit needed to work properly was to have some coolant bled. After trying to convince me that my perfectly good AC needed to be replaced, I felt like this technician intentionally left me with an AC that would go bad in the short run so that I would believe my AC was indeed broken. This company is the reason that Angies List exists. Stay away from this company.

The name is on the air conditioner which is how I ended up using them. All it needed was Freon. they got carried away with that besides. I'm on a 4 story building and they said they had to go to the roof to put the Freon in. I guess they had to do the entire Freon portion of it so it was a bit more than I expected. They gave me such a difficult time about getting on the roof of this building when it turns out that it was not necessary. There was no need for them to get up on the roof. I checked with the clubhouse and they said that was not necessary. And they really procrastinated over this and gave me a really hard time of it.

Once J.R got in he asked me a few question. After figuring out that the A/C couldn't be tune-up because there was no Freon in the system. He explain to me hat the deal I bought was not for diagnosis, he quickly got on the phone and spoke with his boss. They did not hesitate to still honor the amount I paid but to also did the diagnosis that is worth $89.00 without paying the difference. Unfortunately my A/C unit is 10 yrs old and a coil had leaked. J.R. explained to me what could happened if I only replaced the coils v/s replacing the entire unit. He quoted me both.

The installers were prompt and neat. However the installation failed inspection by Broward County inspector both on the roof and the air handling unit inside the condo. This necessitated having to take time off from work for the revisit of Air America and the follow-up inspection which occurred today. The installation FAILED INSPECTION A SECOND TIME. The inspector noted that they did not follow his original and very specific instructions. This will mean two other instances of having to miss work, for the second revisit of Air America and the follow up third inspection. Air America runs a very shoddy operation.

In May, with the Florida heat cranking-up, I moved into my first new house to find that the old AC was not cooling sufficiently so I opted to find and install a new unit. Found Air America Air Conditioning, obtained a quote, negotiated conditions, compared prices, read reviews. Their promise was straight forward, my house would be much cooler, the sales Marc said in my home-office while we both sweated. He has experience in the business. Worked for FPL. Knows AC from a long-time. Everything would be cool, AND my electric bill would be cut in half. Great! Here is someone who knows and will take care of me, and won`t take me for a ride. They took my money and the installation seemed to go ok. What do I know? First house and first new AC. First dealings with a major purchase. Everyone is all smiles. Pat on the back. Install. And they go away. Said everything is working. Except that it wasn't. By 13 June, three days later the AC as not cooling. Called and they came out without a problem. A friendly tech. Everything was ok. I waited patiently. Hot. The AC is not doing much better than my old. Another call 19 June. Same routine. So the salesperson Marc is telling me that it is a problem with my ducts. That I should take advantage of FPL's program for duct checking. I take his word for it. He`s a former FPL guy. He knows about AC, I don`t know. So I sweat it out, literally, call FPL and schedule an appointment for a duct check. And in the mean time my first electric bill arrives and MY ELECTRIC BILL DOUBLES IN A MONTH! A technician later laughs, and tells me, of course! The AC is running 24 hours a day trying to cool my house! So I waited at home sweating on my birthday on 14 July which was the earliest date for a technician to visit. At the end the FPL test results are?..the ducts are working fine! The FPL guy looks in the attic and sees that I have enough insulation, so the house passes inspection. I called Marc from Air America who proceeds to tell me that the FPL test is wrong, that I should call FPL and tell them that they did a wrong test! That they should send someone else out to do another test. So Marc is expecting me to call this large corporation to tell them that they are wrong about how they are running their business! And he is not considering that the product that he promised to cool my house and lower my electric bill is not working. It is worth noting that since he picked up my signature on the installation order, when I was on the hook for the $5,000, this Marc guy has not called me once. He did not call me once throughout the period when I was having problems, he has not called me since, he has not cared one bit whether the AC that Air America installed has worked, whether I am or not satisfied, nothing. All that Marc cared was his paycheck. He got it and screw the customer. The same for his boss Scott, the owner of the company. Has not once bothered to find out if everything had been solved. He could care less. To cut a long story short, after various other calls for service, on 03 October I finally received an visit from Antoine who was able to figure out that the system has a refrigerant leak. By the way, he arrived the day after I called the office at 9pm (called answered by Scott) when I found out that THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE MY HOUSE WAS COOLER THAN INSIDE WITH THE BRAND NEW AIR AMERICA AC RUNNING. Today, I am still not sure if the AC is setup correctly. A city inspector came and found errors with their installation. It is going to be 2016 before it is completely installed. In the mean-time Air America has been trying to get me to buy an additional maintenance plan in spite of the fact that I paid $1,000 on top of the $4,000 for the AC unit. According to Marc this was a service contract that I purchased that was supposed to cover me so that I would not have to worry about any service cost. Again, he got the check and stupid me consumer and home-owner, got duped by Air America. In summary, my experience is that Air America sucks. I urge my neighbors and potential buyers to stay away from this company. The technicians are nice and polite but apparently there is a lack of training or knowledge because it took so many visits before anyone figured out what was wrong. I write this 6 months after my installation, so it is obvious that I am not rushing to slam someone needlessly. I have been patient. I have been polite. I have had time to think about this. But 6 months later all I can do is help my neighbors by telling my story so that they don't ever have to go through the miserable experience that I have had with Air America A/C Heating & Refrigeration LLC.

There's no doubt about it, these guys know what they're doing. If your experience is anything like ours, then the first person you will meet will be extremely knowledgeable and cordial. Then enter the monkey business. A gruff, non-english-speaking lead man will show up for the instal and truly unprofessional interactions will begin. Once they're 90% finished, they will leave and you will have to call and schedule to get the things they forgot installed. THEN comes the permitting. Get ready for their threatening letter they send about placing a lien on your property if you don't use their permitting service. On principal, we did not. We scheduled the permit inspection ourselves. Turns out their paper work isn't up to date with the city. After assuring us for the third time that their paperwork was NOW FINALLY updated with the city, we scheduled yet another inspection in vain. To date, that is three days wasted waiting for a no-show inspector, one date for the instal, half day waiting for the remaining 10% of the job parts, and still this monkey business isn't over. We're exhausted and thought you'd like to know.

Steve came right on time, he called 30 min before. He cleaned drain line and performed an air conditioner maintenance. We were very happy with him and will definitely use this company in the future.

Great service. Came out immediately and honored Angie's list deal. Called to follow up. They were very courteous and got the job done!

The service went way better than expected. It was an awesome experience.

just for the tech to come over was $75.00, he did a diagnostic to see what the problem was $69.00, turn out to be a/c didn't have no freon.... put 3 lbs of free-on (at $75.oo each lb)= $225 add tax....total $369.98

they quoted me $1084 to replace and install new blower motor. I called several other companies and received quotes ranging from $650 - $750.... and yes, I did have another company actually come to my house so there is no special reason why Air America quoted me $1084. its a straight forward job, the unit is by itself in a closet on the first floor. worst part is I actually used Air America 2 times in the past they did a great job. not sure why they are trying to rip me off but I will never use them again.. to bad because the techs are very knowledgeable, but I cant trust them any more based on this last experience. price of motor is around $400. they want to charge about $700 for labor.... am I missing something???

My experience was fine. There were no problems.
