Pricing was competitive. Joey the owner was onsite at all times and did a lot of the work himself. He was able to provide as many experienced installers as necessary to complete the work on schedule. Joey showed pride in the work and was pleased to give us daily demonstrations of progress. The crew was careful to avoid damage to walls and furniture. They did a complete cleanup at the end. They were punctual, protected furniture and carpet, kept us informed, and cleaned up. The tile work was excellent - straight and level with nice grout lines. I would recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

We will begin by saying we first contacted Joey through the Angie's list mail system. He responded back in 24 hours, which is very reasonable. He answered my questions both times I contacted him. We then went to various tile stores and picked out a tile we liked. We called Joey and scheduled a time for him to come and measure for a bid. He was on time, very impressive. While his associate measured our condo, Joey sat with us and validated the porcelain tile we picked was excellent quality. During the time he spent with us, we never felt rushed as we did with another installer we interviewed. Joey answered our questions and gave us information that we never thought about. We now suspect that the F rating they received was a demanding individual who did not get his way, as there was never any actual work hired. Check the reviews of those of us who actually had work done by Distinctive Tile and Marble. You will see they are A's. Demolition day- Joey arrived at the exact time he said he would. They began demolition of the existing tile and carpet. We were very pleased since they cleaned as they went. Joey and his associate, Brian, were extremely courteous as we were living here during the installation process. They were very accommodating. At the end of day 1, the last thing he said to us was are you satisfied with the way we cleaned before we leave for the day? Each day was the same. They were on time, worked hard and left asking if we were satisfied. He and Brian spent about an hour mapping out and chalking lines to get just the right look before the first tile was put down. We are very satisfied with the price and work. Joey, owner of Distinctive Tile and Marble, is a professional in his craft, work ethics and customer service. We plan on having our shower tiled soon and we will be calling Joey again.

He has great suggestions and always trying to figure out how to keep the costs low. This company is wonderful and very enjoyable to have working in your house. They cleaned up every night to perfection and worked very hard. Always showed up on time. Very courteous. We will use them again for sure.

Much better than expected. A true work of art. Perfectly straight and uniform grout lines. Perfectly fitted around moldings, corners, door frames and borders. Not a single imperfection. Fast completion, complete clean-up, friendly and professional people. The entire experience could not have better.

From my first contact with Joey when he came out on time to give me an estimate, I knew that he was going to do my job. You can tell just from talking to Joey that he knows what he's talking about and not just spewing out hot air. His job portfolio was very impressive and his price more that competitive. Plus, he seemed like he was really interested in doing my job and not just going through the motions like other contractors I spoke with. When the day arrived to start work he was there on time and started working when he walked in the door and didn't quit until the end of the day and then some! The next day he arrived with his crew of Mark and Victor and they immediately got the job laid out and started work. They worked every single day they were there from the time they arrived until the end of the day with very few breaks. Joey excels at keeping you informed every step of the way and both he and his crew were very personable and easy to talk with. The quality of his work is far above what he charges. I would put the job he did at our modest home up against any tile job around and probably come out the winner. The medallion and border work he did in the entry way is beautiful and really makes the right impression when you come in the front door. I would highly recommend Joey and will not even look at another contractor when we're able to redo the baths and kitchen!!!

I was exceptionally pleased with the process. My new shower looks great, and I was exceptionally pleased with the neatness and "clean up" by Distinctive Tile. They arrived at the appointed time and completed the work very timely. All stages of the process were completed in a very professional manner. I would highly recommend !!

Joey and his employe Mark installed four rooms of tile and bathtub surround, they done a excellent and always were on time, cleaned up after the job, and put all the appliances back in place and made sure everything was working, I would recommend distinctive to anyone who needs tile work. They had one employee, Mark, that did great work. The other tile setting work was not done well at all. I paid the workers to use a special system in order to avoid lippage. Mark did it the correct way, but everyone else did not. There were multiple tiles in all three bedrooms and the kitchen area that are in different heights. I was told by the owner that using this system would prevent this problem, the other issue is that where the tiles join and form a cross hair on a straight lace setting pattern, several areas do not. I had to repeatedly remind the owner to back butter the tiles he was setting as it was the correct way to install, otherwise you could end up with hollow spots under the tile that weakens it and could it to crack. He wanted to show me that I was wrong, so he pulled up a tile that was just set. Not to my surprise, there was no thinset on 1/3 of the tile.

I had found Distinctive on Angie's List and subsequently discovered they were also recommended by the supplier of the tiles I had bought to be installed. I did not price compare the job exhaustively. Shawn (Joey) Freeman gave me a comprehensive quote for the job and highlighted any specific issues that could impact on the final price. He provided me with a schedule for the job and was ready to start with his team on the exact day that he had predicted three weeks earlier. His team did their best to minimise the impact of their work on the neighbours and worked full days including Saturday from beginning to end to get the job done. I had no reservations about providing them with a key to access the property and lock up on departure if I was not able to be there. The job entailed laying 12X24 rectified edge porcelain tiles with minimal grouting to achieve a very clean, level, contemporary look and they have succeeded in all respects. I would not hesitate to use Distinctive again.

LOOK NO FURTHER THAN DISTINCTIVE TILE AND MARBLE FOR A GREAT JOB!! Joey and his crew of Jessie, Mark and Sebastian were the hardest working remodeling crew I have ever witnessed. They planned the job to take 3 weeks, showed up every day on time, worked all day through the lunch hour with hardly a break, and did excellent work on every aspect of the job. THis particular job involved tile replacement across three different sub-floor bases, required a lot of imagination and skill to provide a single, even surface with not a grout line out of kilter. It required using multiple thicknesses of Durock and floating the sub-surface to create nice, even lines with no ugly room breaks. Additionally, the shower tile job was done with precision, great attention to detail, and with a pride of craftsmanship that makes Distinctive Tile and Marble a clear winner for the Customer. As in all remodel situations, the "tear out" process yields many challenges with respect to how to create a seamless new look. Joey, Jessie, Mark and Sabby all collaborated at every turn to devise the best solutions to issues as they arose.

Joey, Sebastian, Mark and the rest of his crew tiled our house in brick-lay format, tile baseboards and two showers. Joey was on the job everyday but one, a family day. My wife knows tile and when we interviewed Joey for the job, it was obvious he knew his stuff. To say we are pleased would be an understatement. Distinctive Tile made our house a home. This was the first company I've actually hired since using Angie's List, and boy does every company have a lot to live up to after this! Joey prompted returned my call, and came out to give me an estimate. I had read other reviews and seen some pictures of his work on here so I decided to hire him. He arrived precisely when he said he would. He and his associate, Mark were most courteous while in my home. The first day was demo and they couldn't have done a better job keeping the dust down to a minimum and assuring that they cleaned up before they left. I have a family and we stayed in the house every night. There was only 1 night that it was 'difficult' to move around. They have an unbelievable work ethic. Taking minimal breaks and working all day without a lunch from what I could tell. Each day they cleaned before they left and checked to ensure I was happy with the job they had done. In only 5 short days they transformed my home into a work of art!!! I'm elated by the job they did. They are professional and exacting in their details. They exceeded every single expectation I had. If you need tile work done, this is the company who should be doing it. I cannot recommend them highly enough! In fact, before they left I had Joey draw up an estimate for a second job that I would only consider Distinctive Marble and Tile for.

Joe from distinctive tile returned my original contact phone call almost immediately and came to my house the next day to give me an estimate on removing my existing ceramic tile and installing new porcelain tile. His estimate was very competitive and his manner very professional. I decided to have Distinctive Tile do the job. They completed the job in a timely manner and did an excellent job. Joe and his assistant work neatly and cleaned up thoriughly before they left. I am extremely satisfied with Distinctive Tile. My floor looks beautiful.

I had great dificulty rating this contractor - he did great work the the tiles were laid well and he delt with some unforseen issues with the floor well - BUT He had me purchase the tile for the wall and what I got from Home Depot was a mixture of two different batches of tile that were quite different in color - even though they were marked the same. As he prepared to put them up he called and said there was a slight difference - this was an understatement. He said he would scatter the difference so it would be hidden. these were 12" by 12" sheets of 2" by 2" stone tiles - and I assumed he meant he would scatter the 2 by 2s not the full 12 by 12s. I gave him the go-ahead - and he did a good job of putting them up (but scattered the 12 by 12s). the results were pretty bad. So now I will have to take them all off the wall (which will damage the drywall underneath) because the difference is so pronounced and so obvious. I called him back and all he did was quote me a price to remove the tiles and said putting on new tiles (that I would have to purchase) would be the same price as the first time. I accept some of the responsibility as I did not check all the sheets of tile carefully side by side with the quarry dust washed off. but as soon as he saw what that wall was going to look like he should have called me back to say he could not conceal the difference. Now I will have to remove all the tiles and start over. His work is great - but dont expect great judgement. Also: you may want to go to a real tile store and not Home Depot when you want to buy tile. We were stuck with Home Depot for this part of the job as another contractor had started the job with tiles from there and we had to match them - and some of what we bought did - just not all of them...

I found an area of floor tiles in my home that were no longer adhered to the slab. Joey came out the next day (Sat.) to look at the job and give me an estimate. He discovered the problem was larger than I realized. After receiving an explanation and estimate we set an approximate date for the job. I got a call a day or two later advising another customer was unable to start and that he could come the next day. They arrived early and we cleared the work area. Grinding the grout was an extremely messy job. However, Joes partner worked 1" behind him with a shop vacuum to capture as much dust as possible. In addition they complied with my wish to vent the vacuum exhaust out side. He also brought in a powerful fan, creating a draft, to ventilate the area blowing additional dust outdoors. The guys skipped lunch and finished in about 5 hours. Clean up was better than expected but still required minor effort on my part.

They were great to deal with and were always here when they said they would be. They were very friendly and courteous. They finished the job in a timely manner and they always cleaned up after themselves. I have had numerous compliments on the tile work and a friend that used to do tile said they did a classy job and I heartly agree.

When we moved into our condo 18 months ago we had Distinctive Tile (Joe Freeman) lay about 800' of floor tile. Where the tile ended, we carpeted the rest. This year we decided to rip out the carpeting and tile the rest with the same tile which was still available, but going out of stock. Since we were so pleased with Joe's work the first time, he is the only one we called. He did an superb job of meshing the old with the new (20" on the diagonal). He came when he said and finished on time. The craftsmanship involved in some of the cuts around doorways is unbelievable. We chose Distinctive in the first place because I like to know that the guy giving me the bid is the same guy doing the work. It's just Joe and his assistant Mark that do the actual work, not some unknown crew sent out. They are pleasant to be around and tidy.
