Jay Shapiro Computers

This is a complete reversal of the 5 star review I gave Jay Shapiro Computers early September. I would give negative stars if this was possible. As you read this keep in mind the concept of a wolf in sheep s clothing. Sep 6th: After reading his generally positive reviews I met Jay in person and he resolved a number of matters on our PC. Of most relevance to this review is that Jay installed Logmein which allowed him to access the computer remotely. Meeting ended with positive sentiment. Oct 13th : I received 3 unsolicited text messages from Jay: Tony, I am getting some strange alerts coming from (your) computer Is everything working OK Sure enough the home screen had changed to Virus 1 and I was unable to login. Over the next 24 hours Jay worked with a black screen except for a short period where he showed that all folders, files, music and photos had completely disappeared and he was apparently doing his best to recover them. Amazingly(?) he did manage to fully restore the computer. However when I started asking meaningful questions after three detailed investigative discussions with Logmein helpdesk Jay too easily waived his entire invoice and claimed that the matter was giving him chest pains. I offered Jay double time payment to provide a report confirming the detail of the strange alerts , sharing all Logmein logs and confirming the logic of using a black screen. I have also offered to pay his original invoice in full upon satisfactory explanation. Jay has stopped responding and despite my offer of additional payment has provided no explanation as to how he apparently became aware of a virus infection in the first place. Coincidentally I note a yelp review Jan 8 2017 which seems remarkably similar to my experience. I believe Jay is running a scam business profiting for himself by cleaning up self-inflicted spurious Virus infections.

Unfortunately my computer was not worth repairing . He provided prompt service at a lower price for the estimate of all the other vendors I called. I appreciate his honesty by recommending that the work not be done because the cost of repairs was more than the computer was actually worth. I am definitely going to keep his phone number in case I need work done on my new computer in the future.

He was very professional. Drove from Manhattan to see me and resolve my hacking issue. I highly recommend his services. Jay is a consumate professional, warm, friendly, and above all, extremely knowledgeable.

Jay was on time, and worked hard to solve our many problems with internet issues and software and malware with four different computers. He came to us twice and will return a third time next week to solve some additional problems we have had. We live in NYC and West Palm Beach FL,, and were delighted to learn that Jay can work remotely with us in Florida with our computers there as well. He knows his stuff and is also a a very personable guy. We highly recommend him.

Jay quickly and effectively solved a tricky problem I have been struggling over for several days. He synched my old and new laptops and iPhone to use MS OneNote on MS OneDrive. He is expert at diagnosing route causes, finding fixes and test proving results. His solution cut across different incompatible versions of One Note. He's going to be my go to guy from now on. He is also an interesting and pleasant person to work with.

Jay Shapiro was very patient and clear with how he assisted me with my computer. He managed to troubleshoot every problem successfully. I would recommend him highly.
