He was persistent in getting in touch with me and making himself available even though I was hard to reach. ( I was traveling down to Florida and unavailable for almost a whole day after initially contacting him.) Dorrant is without doubt one of the most polite human beings I have ever met. He was on time, respectful and such a pleasure to have in our home. He's great. Hire him, you will NOT be sorry!

 + -1 moreVery responsive. We purchased a home and wanted the locks changed. The closing was delayed several hours and he was able to adjust his schedule to meet us same day, later in the afternoon. Very courteous and professional--he even took his shoes off before entering the house Took time to answer all of my questions. High quality workmanship. Since I spent quite a bit of money on high end locks and labor, it would have been nice if he had comped the $60 service call fee. Overall, highly recommended though.

He arrived very quickly, charged a fair price, and was very courteous and trustworthy.  + -1 moreWent very smoothly. I was very satisfied. See story above. I also was having trouble with the blinds in my bedroom and Dorrant came up with a very easy solution to the problem that totally fixed the problem and at no charge.
Description of Work: I had some things taken from a dresser in my closet and decided to put a lock on the jewelry drawer and possibly secure some other places in the house. I called Dorrant after reading about him on Angie's List. He answered and was able to come to the house the same day. He was super professional. He had the ideal locks to put on my my dresser jewelry drawer. His price was reasonable and I did two of them on two drawers. I also had him look over the rest of the locks in the house. One lock I had had for about ten years was loose and he fixed it at no charge. he also showed me how to use a special peephole that I had in the front door that I never really knew how to use in the correct manner. He checked all other security and locks in the house to make sure they were functioning correctly and were the correct security for my house. I also decided to put a lock on a front closet that is there now if I ever want or need to use it. He was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Dorrant for any locksmith needs and I would call him back if I needed anything.

He showed up the same day I called and after reviewing the situation, he came up with a solution and fixed what was needed to be fixed. My mother is now safe a secure in her home. I am extremely pleased with his care for my Mom's concerns. I would highly recommend Alockmedic Locksmiths.
Description of Work: Replace tumbler and rekey lock. Remove incorrect weather stripping and install correct weather stripping. Dorrant had to search different locations in order to find the correct weather stripping for my Mom's door.

He was able to quickly identify the lock change needs that I required for my property, and performed the work promptly, cleanly and completely. For lockwork don’t even bother calling anyone else.
Description of Work: Rekeying of property I just purchased, along with changing the garage door security code, providing keys and 2 garage door clickers. Dorrant also thought to change the security code of the realtor's lockbox (great thinking!)

He took the time to open them up for me, showed me how they worked and provided me with two keys. He was there within an hour of my call. Very punctual, professional and friendly.  + -1 moreThey gave us an estimate over the phone which was somewhat accurate....we changed our minds once he arrived because we wanted a more secure lock so obviously it was more expensive. He called to give us a heads up on his arrival, even though we already knew the time...it was nice of him to call ahead as well, we really appreciated that. He was extremely polite and courteous, such a nice guy! I know its not the number one thing people look for when they hire someone to do a one time job, but he really was such an above and beyond kind person, that we had to put it in here. He did the job quickly and professionally. He was very clean and we couldnt be happier. He made recommendations when we asked and he finished the job very well...we feel very safe with our new super locks! He even had to change a handle on one of the doors because the cylinder he had did not fit into ours and he painted the part of the door that was showing wood from the old handle. Great job! Would highly recommend...even though we thought it was a bit expensive, but well worth it.
Description of Work: Changed all of the locks in my new house. Changed the cylinders of 3 doors and changed the combinations on 3 doors. 6 doors total. I didnt know before, but 6 doors equals 12 locks or cylinders or combinations...they need to change both sides of the door, its not just one piece like i thought before I had this work done...so keep in mind with any lock change, you are paying double.

 + -1 moreThe work was great. I contacted Dorrant at Alockmedic on a Tuesday afternoon. We spoke on the phone and I explained what was wrong in my condo with the deadbolt. I told him someone cares for my place while I am not around (as I live in NJ ) and that I would have to contact this gentleman to get him access into our gated community. Dorrant told me he would call this getntleman and set up a time to come over tomorrow if that was okay and I said that was fine. THe next day around 3 in the afternoon the gentleman who cares for my place, called and told me the lock was fixed and Dorrant was very good at what he did. Dorrant had to drill the deadbolt out and replace the tumblers with a new set and rekeyed it to fit my exsisting lock. I could not have asked anymore from Dorrant and would reccommend him highly.
Description of Work: The work completed was as follows; drill out exsisting deadbolt and replace the deadbolt with new lock keyed to my exsisting door.

He showed up exactly on time and even called 10 minutes before to let me know that he was on time. He got to my apartment with a smile and ready to work. The 15~20 minutes that it took him to finish the job went by quickly as he was not only very professional, but also a very personable, nice to talk to person. Best of all, the service was done cleanly and at the right price. Greatly recommended!!

I chose ALockMedic because of the high ratings and great comments they received from the reviews of past customers. Dorrant arrived on time as scheduled on a Sunday. He had an impressive wheeled toolbox with everything he needed to handle the job. Dorrant removed the sliding glass door lock to see if he can repair it but quickly realized and even showed me, where it had broken in two. He replaced the lock with a new, even better one. I asked him if he can take a look at another lock while he was there and he did not hesistate to accomodate my request. Dorrant then re-keyed two other locks and supplied me with extra keys. Dorrant is not only knowledgeable, professional and gracious, he is personable, and exemplary at his craft! Dorrant uses the latest technology to assist with service call invoicing and check out the inside of his service vehicle... it is an impressive workshop on wheels!  + -1 moreFirst, I came to Angie's List in search of a good locksmith. This company was the highest rated. So I decided to give them a call. Durrant was the consummate professional and was extremely polite. He set up the appointment and called 30 minutes before his arrival at the house. He arrived within five minutes of his appointment time. He examined the old lock and the door and described several possibile replacement options. We chose one and he proceeded to work on the new lock. He then installed it. The entire process took about an hour. He also provided 2 extra keys for the lock. Again, I was very pleased with the job and would highly recommend him to anyone else.
Description of Work: He replaced the broken door lock and latch with a new unit and changed the lock to match the house key.

Description of Work: Retooled a lock - fixed both parts of lock and made keys - was more than just retooling the lock- labor intensive/had to realign the working parts of the lock. This was done in an orderly manner. Was extremely nice and would recommend as well as use again myself.

 + -1 moreCalled at 6:30 pm, was told someone would be there in 30 minutes and he arrived exactly as promised. Extremely professional and very nice! Discussed all options with me and then proceeded to perform work as promised. Re-keyed one lock, installed a new dead bolt and also a new type of lock for sliding glass doors. Did an excellent job - even marked the keys with tabs to make it easier to remember which key was for which lock. Price was fair especially considering last minute call. He will be my first choice in the future for any locksmith work I need done!

 + 0 moreMr. Mowatt was acceptional. He was running late due to severe weather conditions. He kept in constant contact with us and arrived as quickly as he could. My purse was stolen along with my keys and I was very fearful someone would get in. He arrived immediately and changed the locks. I was also having a problem with securing my sliding glass doors. He put on special locks that were easy to use and completely secured our home. I was able to sleep and not have to worry. I'm a single parent with two young boys, and since my purse & keys were stolen, I was a nervous reck. He was very professional and assured me that everything would be ok. He gave me several extra keys, and he even gave me an extra large key for me. He was great. I would definitely use his services again and would highly recommend him to my friends and neighbors.  + -1 moreDorrant consulted with us about wheter we could use the old handleset on the old door. When it was determined it couldn't be fixed, he helped locate a website which sold a similar set. When it arrived, he worked for hours to install it perfectly on the door, which we had off the hinges in order to refinish it. Dorrant hung the door with the new hinges as well. He also rehung a back door,which had been crooked, and installed the handles and locks on the other doors. He was polite, punctual, and efficient. I also asked him to re key the mailbox for a tentant who broke her key off in the lock. He did the job quickly there too.
Description of Work: We found Dorrant on Angie's list. We bought a 1926 house, which needed a ned lock and handleset on a very old door, and new deadblots and handles on four other doors. Dorrant installed all the locks and handles, and rehung two of the doors. The keys had made are special keys which can not be duplicated.

 + 0 moreDurrant did a great job! I emailed pictures of my locks so he could order comparable locks before coming to my house. He changed all the locks to Medeco locks, and installed child proof locks to all exterior doors. Durrant is very professional and explained in detail the features of the locks I purchased. After he was finished installing everything I ordered, I realized I needed a child proof lock on the patio screen door and he installed it right away, no problem.

 + -1 moreCalled Alockmedic, they said they would be there at 4ish. They were there. We went over the issues with my backdoor handle and he explained that he could fix it, but I wanted to change the lock/door knob. Alockmedic explained all the costs etc with changing from a doorknob to a lever handle. They rekeyed, and moved our security plate. The whole process was fast and the door works flawlessly. Also how the new lock works was explained (different modes). Durant is very knowledgeable and friendly. They are my goto locksmith from now on.
Description of Work: Replaced our door knob on our warehouse backdoor. Had to replate the security plate as well.
