Bear Fence

I was selling my home and found that the previous deck company was out of business. My realtor contacted the owner of Bear Fence Co, Ed Halko, and explained what needed to be done. The owner stated that he would help us out since he had been building decks for the past two years. He was contacted the beginning of July 2012 and settlement was the end of July 2012. Each week, the owner was contacted by my realtor for a status. The owner stated each time he spoke to my realtor that everything was being taken care of. The Monday before settlement my realtor again contacted the owner of the company. He returned her call the next day. He stated one of his employees had gone to the county office and waited two hours, only to be told he needed additional paperwork, one which needed to be notarized. He became agitated to the realtor. He stated he did not have time to go back on the following day he was busy and needed to take care of personal things. The settlement day came and we still did not have any communication from Bear Fence for the paperwork that needed to be done. I add to this he did bill me for the work that was suppose to have been done. Thank God no monies where exchanged!!!!! I myself then contacted the owner after settlement and I stated to him that since this work was not completed, the attorney office withheld a substantial amount of settlement money. He became nasty, yelling and screaming at me that it was not his fault and he did not have time for this and that it was not his problem, he did not even build the deck and that he was not going to help me and wished me luck and hung up on me!!! He and his company is NOT trustworthy!!!! He is a nasty, ignorant person that is very childlike and no one like that should be in business!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! STAY AWAY!!!! AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS POSSIBLE!! He is negligent and will hang up on you!!!! It makes me question how legitimate he and his business is if he did not have all the correct paperwork to file at the county office for decks in the first place???? If the contractor did not want to do the work, why did he not just tell us the beginning of July????
