The work ethic is terrible. 

DO NOT hire this company. It was nothing but a complete nightmare. Signed an agreement thinking quality service would be delivered. It was the only time Chris Russell ever showed up, it was the money. Took 2months before anyone started the project. The person he sent to do the work was very nice, he let me know that Chris always does the same, not get permits, materials and does not respond. Bad Business

This company and employees - Chris Russell and Salvatore Belluso are just plainly THIEVES! Mr. Belluso always came by to collect our money, and now that they have our $42,400.00, we have heard nothing from either of them. We canceled our project before any work was done, and they still havenâ t refunded our money. We canceled on 3/26/24, over a month ago. I just noticed their company website is expired. I think they are trying to get away with robbing us!

Be aware from The Great Outdoors they just took your money.

The owner is running his company under the ground, has poor communication and does not complete job.

We hired the great outdoors to convert a screen room. They started our project in October 2023 They just showed up without notice. They pulled the team numerous times for days or weeks at a time. Our project has NOT been completed. The last time we saw them on the job was the last week of December 2023. We have sent text messages to the sales man. He can not get answers from the owner Chris. We have stopped by the office, sent 2 certified letters and hand delivered a letter to the office. Chris Russell the owner of TGO has not responded. Our last letter was 2/12/24 We are still waiting for flooring, debris to be removed and have never seen a building permit. The flooring store has contacted TGO 4-5 times with the conversation with Chris the owner while we were in the store. This has caused much stress and inconvenience. It is unacceptable for a contractor to take on a project and not complete it. I would stay away from this company. We actually had them quote on 2 additional projects. There is no way that we would go with them now. I wish we had read reviews before we signed a contract with them. This unfortunately happens very often with TGO. It is unfortunate because they did good work but left without completing the work. This is not acceptable. We have had absolutely no reply from the owner Chris to our numerous attempts to contact him and resolve this. We only want our project completed.

Never delivered product ordered Spring '23, many calls and false promises. Got a Court Default judgement after no response, then Amex refund 2/24 of $3,169 deposit

We hired this company just after moving to Delaware in 2021. Sal, the salesperson was very helpful in the beginning then not so much. We were given a start date which ended up starting earlier then expected. The owner, Chris showed up on the job only one time for maybe 10 minutes. We had a screen porch & deck added. The plans were never sent to the county for permits. We had to take care of all of that which in the contract they were supposed to. Numerous calls went unanswered. Work was not completed as promised. Electrical for fan was not done properly and failed inspection as did the screen porch. All monies were paid as per the contract and still no satisfaction. We ultimately took them to court and were awarded the full amount by the Judge. That was January 2023 and to date have not seen a dime. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY..

They need to have better business practices.

Takes your money and never does the work. Poor communication. I regret trying to work with them.

Had an awning and two sun screens installed 2 years ago. The one sun screen has severe mold which is supposed to be covered by the warranty from Sunrooms and The Great Outdoors, Cannot get anyone at The Great Outdoors to provide help in getting a claim submitted, and all efforts to reach Sunrooms result in being referred back to the local dealer. What a scam. Buyer beware.

I want to thank The Great Outdoors and crew Josh, Mike and Andrew for a beautiful and professional screen enclosure on my patio. The craftsmanship of the work done is wonderful. We contracted with Chris on May 10 2023. We had a few missed calls but once the HOA approval came through the job was scheduled and completed in 3 business days. Very very happy. Positive experience. I was looking to install a porch railing. The project was a small one, requiring minimal work. I was given an explanation of the work to be performed, railing options, and a price. The price was in line with what my neighbors paid for similar work. I asked for photos of similar work done by the company and was told that the information would be emailed to me. Overall, I thought the meeting went well and was ready to hire. After the initial visit, I contacted the company to let them know that I wanted to add to the original score of work; I was told that the man I met with was out and would call back. My call was not returned. The following week I called again, and was told that I would receive a return call; again, I was not called back. Neither did I receive the promised photos of work performed by the company. After waiting a couple of weeks, I decided to use another company.

Awful to do business with. Mr. Rusell the owner NEVER EVER returns calls. If you hire these people be prepared to get an ulcer

We are very happy that our pool deck, it looks amazing and the work crew are very respectful, hard working, and professional, I would recommend The Great Oudoors Sunroom and Shade Solutions to anyone who wants great work done.

Built a sort of wrap around backyard deck in a new construction HOA community. Company rep, Sal, did a great job understanding my desired project and HOA concerns, including matching it up perfectly with the neighbors builder's new home decks. HOA approved. The price was right. The crew was terrific. The deck is absolutely perfect. The whole experience was positive. I couldn't be happier. Great job.

Never completed the project. Stopped answering phone calls. I hired someone else to complete job

I had a wonderful experience with The Great Outdoors. We have a beautiful deck with cable railing so we can see through to the pond at the back of our house. Sal was the person we communicated with most often and he was extremely responsive, texting us back within hours to answer our questions. They took care of all permits and we got exactly what was drawn on the plans. When my husband found something he didn't expect, they were back the next day to fix. I would use them again if I had another project.

I wrote a pretty harsh report on Chris in June 22. As I said in my first review the workmanship was great. I also said that Chris was very hard to get in touch with. When he finally got in touch with us he was able to complete the job to our satisfaction. We are now very happy with our porch. So I safely say I would hire The Great Outdoors if I had to have any other type work done. This is a continuation of the review I wrote in June 2022

The Great Outdoor Crew was very Good and Professional. We were very pleased with there workmanship and Customer Service. Chris Russel was a pleasure to work with.

Outstanding job of building enclosure. But when it comes to the warranty Chris is very lacking. We have called and texted him numerous times about having some windows replaced. He has yet to even acknowledge the calls or texts. He is ruining a good business by not following up with his customers complaints. Because of Chris, I will never use The Great Outdoors again. All Chris had to do was give us an indication of what he planned on doing. I recommend that no one use this company if you want the job completed in a satisfactory manner

In October 2022 I wrote a complaint about my contractor Chris Russell and his company The Great Outdoors (TGO). On Feb 1st it is time for an update. THE SUNCOAST SUNROOM In May 2021, I contracted with TGO to build a SunCoast enclosure sunroom- to be completed October 2021.- (176 days.) We chose a SunCoast enclosure because it was versatile, beautifully designed to enjoy the outdoors without bugs and weather . Our custom planned SunCoast room was 20 x 20 -basically two walls and a roof over a reinforced concrete slab. It was intended to house an exercise pool. 634 days after initial contract, this project remains unfinished. The actual construction started late April 2022- stopping soon after. Chris told me there were warranty issues. I m not surprised because the initial build of the structure is off and those problems have not been fixed. The roof does not drain -resulting in ugly puddle stains and leaking. The cut up poly panels that were overlapped and forced into the framework have accumulated water and mold inside- not pretty, not functional. The 2 base walls were not evenly built - so the promised symmetry of design is totally missing here. The pieced roof is not evident from the ground level and our questions about leaks and mold remained unanswered. Chris sidestepped that question and said they were waiting for custom windows. It required a 73 year old woman to climb a ladder and photograph this atrocious patched roof to expose the problem that GTO and SunCoast already knew existed! Ours was the first residential build by TGO so SunCoast personnel committed in October 22 to replace the roof panels - free- and provide support to get our project done. We were asked to be patient while the two companies worked it out. In December 22 a shipment arrived but the promised replacement roof panels did not arrive. Our contractor told us that he was advised to find a different source. The SunCoast personnel no longer responded to any messages. Chris Russell now claims to be working with new SunCoast people but we have not seen any new plan to correct any part of this mess. Chris told us that the TGO crew has built a few really nice new SunCoast enclosures- but no one has stepped up to fix the mess they left at my house. Kathleen N, Milton, DE
