Description of Work: I bought the big deal in December, but then didn't call them for a while. When I saw the other reviews about them not responding I thought that maybe they needed some time to get through a backlog. I did try to contact them by email and phone several times but there has been no response, the most recent of these being a week ago. I don't really feel like I want to work with a company that doesn't respond, so am not interested in getting AngiesList to push them to get back to me.

 + -1 moreOverall the whole process was great. From the time they came out to give us an estimate to when they finished. they cleaned up after themselves and always took all debris and trash with them. they never distrubed my nieghbors or bothered anyone.
Description of Work: I used Building Services Group LLC for numerous construction projects on our home. Not only were they timely and afforable, but they were friendly and on time. I felt comfortable with them in my home while I was here alone. I even left my dog here with them and they let her outside to go to the bathroom!

 + 1 moreAfter having used BSG at work, I decided to give them a shot at my home. Heavily surrounded by trees, my deck, walkway/patio, driveway and gutters were in desperate need of a cleaning. I called BSG to see if this was work they would perform and they immediately told me that “No job is too small”. They arrived when they said, and provided a quick proposal (the job needed to be done ASAP because we were hosting a party in two days). I had them back out early the next morning to start the work and they completed it beautifully! The wood on my deck looked brand new, my walkway/patio was ridden of dirt/moss/algae, the grouting was a nice clean white, dirt/debris/stains were eliminated from my driveway and all leaves and tree limbs were removed from my gutters. When it was all said and done, my neighbors and I were thoroughly impressed with the results. Keep up the good work BSG – I’ll be sure to help spread the word about you!

 + 3 moreThe project involved ripping up flooring, molding, drywall as well as install new framing, drywall, molding and a new door. From the beginning, I was happy with the professionalism of the staff. After every step, they cleaned up and ensured we were happy. Upon completion, there were a few items we wanted addressed and the BSG team was extremely responsive to our requests. An absolute A+ team which is rare these days.
Description of Work: We had a completely open floor plan that needed to have access shut down to our basement level due to multiple reasons which included a home office and a toddler that had figured out the baby gate to the lower level. The team at Building Services Group came and consulted with us on a design and provided an estimate. After checking with a few other contractors, I realized the team at BSG had the most knowledge and moved forward with them. They had to rip up flooring, molding, drywall as well as install new framing, drywall, molding and a new door.

 + 9 moreBSG submitted an estimate to completely renovate my cooperative unit. His estimate of 55.000 was lower and more complete than another estimate that I had rejected. Joe worked with the cooperative's building engineer to assure compliance with all of the regulations of the building.
Description of Work: Up installed new cabinets, wiring, plumbing. Installed appliances, replaced linoleum with tile. Painted. Installed backsplash Renovated two bathrooms. Replaced tile on floors and in shower/tub. Saved the glass doors on both showers. Redid the enamel in the bathtub. Installed the vanities in both bathrooms. Installed ceiling lighting in the kitchen, bathrooms, hall and dining room. Painted all walls and woodwork. Ripped up the wall to wall carpet throughout the unit. Repaired and refinished the parquet floors Put up new blinds in the den and bedroom. Painted the floor and ceiling of the balcony I needed to completely renovate my cooperative unit. Prior to selling it BSG did an amazing job of working around furniture and boxes. They started with the renovation of the kitchen and two bathrooms. Joe Giordano assisted in helping me select tiles, paint, appliances, lights, vanities, cabinets and sinks. He removed the ancient and ugly wall-to-wall carpeting and repaired and refinished the parquet flooring. Everyone who worked on my renovation handled themselves professionally. Workers showed up on time and left my place picked up of materials and junk. Tools and equipment were put away each day. I made several changes and was delighted that what I wanted was accomplished with minimum disruption to the schedule. While I insisted on several upgrades, Joe found ways to minimize the cost. The work is fabulous. I am selling my unit reluctantly. It looks amazing. I would recommend Joe Giordano and the Building Services Group for any renovations or improvement ts.

 + 0 moreA few plumbers had told us that our furnace/boiler room needed ventilation to remove potentially harmful fumes from our heat pump, etc.. The air in the room was undoubtedly still and the smell of gas was strong in the closet and adjoining room. We didn't really know what type of company might be best to call for such a project, so we asked a few trusted friends and they put us in touch with BSG. I called for them to come out and provide me with an estimate and they arrived, surveyed the situation and took me through exactly what our options were. After receiving the reasonable and detailed estimate, I scheduled the work day with BSG and they arrived early in the morning. Before starting, they once again talked us through the work to be done-- letting us know how long the process would take. After getting going, they immediately alerted us when a few of the plans had to change-- walking us through the situation and the suggested solution. All in all, they were incredibly professional-- easy to work with and yes, finished in the time originally scoped. The final bill was the very same as the estimate, so no surprises on that front. They also programmed the electric fan for us, left the instructions and emailed me the schedule they had inputted. Impressive. Ultimately, we sure wish more contractors acted (and worked) like BSG. We're already planning our next bit of work with them and recommend them without hesitation.

 + 2 moreJoe from BSG was at the job site bright and early at 5:00am the morning after speaking to me ready with an estimate and a formal proposal for all work by the afternoon. Upon receiving a signed proposal, BSG was able to mobilize the very next morning and begin work. They made plastic enclosures around the areas they worked in accompanied by a vacuum system to remove the contaminated air outside the building. They used the right tools (electric vs compressed air) to create virtually no dust. I was thoroughly impressed with the preparedness and efficiency in getting the job done in the allotted time. Joe, his Forman, and the entire work crew were always professional, courteous, and respected all rules and regulations at the University while performing work. I was given daily progress reports and status updates to ensure quality communication between companies. I am giving BSG 10 out of 10 stars, a rare offering by me, as I was constantly satisfied in all aspects of the job.
Description of Work: As part of a large job for Georgetown University, we needed several pre-existing concrete pads removed and resurfaced ASAP. The University also required minimal to zero dust exposure to the other inhabited areas of their Central Plant. I was refereed to BSG from other satisfied customers and spoke with Joe.

 + 3 moreThe details: KITCHEN - remodeled my kitchen which involved knocking down 2 walls and essentially putting in an island and breakfast bar in its place in the shape of an "L" ( i opened up an enclosed area) and hanging some sconces and small spotlights from the ceiling for ambiance. I also needed glass/subway tile installed on two walls and appliances replaced in addition to putting together and installing some ikea kitchen cabinets. Electrical had to be brought up to code. Some plumbing issues needed to be addressed and tile needed to be installed on to two walls. A pretty big job. Closets: Needed to open up two closets that originally had one door but were 6 ft and 8 ft wide (east-west)...typical of old buildings that need a little bit of modernization. Required knocking down walls, installing a frame and doors to go in to frame. Lights were installed with hidden switch. Also needed some Elfa closet system installed (i did this myself). He painted after installation. It was exactly as I had hoped. Bathroom. Needed bathroom floor to be re-tiled, new toilet, new sink, faucet and vanity and mirror. old tile needed to be removed from ALL walls including shower. Dry wall took the place of old tile and was painted. Inside shower replaced old tile and put in new plumbing fixtures to get it up to code. All around solid job. On time. Extremely Professional. Two Thumbs Up!
Description of Work: The SKINNY: I contracted Building Services Group to remodel my kitchen, my bedroom closets and my bathroom in an old 1940's apt COOP building in NW DC. I stumbled upon him after firing my previous contractor for being late, lethargic and constantly asking for more money in advance despite the fact that we agreed upon payment "upon percentage of completion" for the project. For each project I went ahead and called around for at least 3 bids per project and in the case of my bathroom 5 bids. After i contracted BSG to do my Kitchen and Bedroom closets (both jobs i was very pleased with) i went around and got bids for work on my bathroom (ever the careful consumer). In all 3 cases BSG was among the most competitive. I found it quite amazing the RANGE of quotes I was getting for each project In some cases the quotes were $15k to $20K more than BSG. I found Joe to be exceptionally punctual, reliable and responsible. He came by the project at least every other day and we reviewed and discussed what needed to be done and where we stood on outstanding items. He made sure we were always on the same page and he was always in contact (which was the complete opposite of my previous contractor) His employees worked cleanly and diligently, were responsible, and all of them were extremely affable. I would 100% recommend BSG and Joe Giordano to anyone looking to do a remodeling job. He did a great job and for reasonable value and outstanding service.

I received updates nearly every day letting me know how it was going, including with pictures so I could see the progress. They were also were very attentive to detail and did everything to ensure I was 100% satisfied with the finished product, which I am. My bathroom turned out better than I ever expected. Unfortunately, I've run out of things to renovate, but if I had anything remaining I would certainly use BSG again.
Description of Work: BSG performed a complete top-to-bottom bathroom renovation as well as refinished the walls in an adjacent walk-in-closet.
