They never showed up to do the work. Dissatisfied completely.
Description of Work: After getting estimate Tuesday, Jim the owner of Oronoque Home Improvement stated his crew would be out that Saturday to install two closet doors and do work on our homes floor joists. Jim stated they would be out between 8-8:30A. My wife and I spent the night preparing the room and basement to ensure a ready work area for the next morning. At 9A Jim's team had still not arrived and no call. I called the business number and got the office voicemail. Called again around 10A and still got the voicemail. Sent a message to the business through Angie's list and still no reply. It is now 2:44p on Saturday and no courtesy call for being late or for missing the scheduled time completely. Very disappointed with the lack of common courtesy for my time that was wasted. Approximate cost $750.00

It started out as a step replacement and some cosmetic work to foundation, Jim was great! Right away he zeroed in on another problem with water to our gutter area that had plagued us for some time and fixed the problem. He was thorough and found our foundation was about to crumble in one corner of our porch. He took care of everything right away and his workers were excellent! They always came on time and worked hard and did a fabulous job. Cleaned up every night before leaving. With a few minor "hiccups" Jim responded immediately and made sure we were pleased. I would highly recommend Oronoque Home Improvement LLC. They are now our go to guys.

It was OK as there was some shoddy work done (not paying attention to detail). Attached is just one example of shoddy grout work. The owner and I went back and forth with regards to repairing this and shaving the bedroom door (new floor put in that was higher than the previous floor). He insisted that he would not come out unless there was business and I have all correspondence to prove this. I would be more than happy to provide "all" email correspondence if requested
Description of Work: Remodel our lower level after a flood. This also included first floor repairs and improvements
This is the second major project OHI has done for us. The work was done perfectly. My husband and I did a walk around every evening; if something was not exactly as we wanted, I let Jim Faris know by text, and it was changed on the next work day. Toward the end of the work, I understood that Jim has an informal "Last one out" policy; at the end of the shift, the work site is checked for potential problems, materials and equipment are secured, and there is a general cleanup. Jim has developed a remarkable crew of highly skilled workers, who have worked together for OHI so long that they are an excellent team. Every single one of them is extremely polite all the time. This is a multicultural workforce of well paid craftsmen. I heard no muttering or complaining from Jim's crew. He himself was on-site almost every day, and stayed all day for the hard parts. He is extremely concerned that no one is injured. (No one was.) The only mistake Jim made was in under estimating the time and money scaffolding would require. The lumber alone was $1500. Jim made certain I understood that he would bear the cost, and nothing on the bill was higher than the contracted price. When we want to expand again, or when something goes wrong with house, I would want mo one other than OHI to touch it!
Description of Work: Ordered, negotiated, and installed custom front door. Rebuilt front porch. Found and replaced all rotted siding. Replaced all trim. Pressure washed and painted the whole exterior, which required extensive scaffolding (house 3 stories), especially complicated over sun room. Installed new gutters, downspouts and gutter screens. Designed, built, painted, and installed 10' high privacy screen.

His crew is always on time, clean up after themselves, like they were never there, friendly and pleasant to be around....I would recommend them for everything....We have been using them for small jobs around the house, since my father is almost 93, although he thinks he's 50 and can still climb ladders, and my husband is not a handyman...they have been God sent....We feel very fortunate to have found them...
Description of Work: Jim Ferris, in the 4 years that I have been using him, has always been there to help, especially in an emergency...In April, my 3rd floor tenant, had some tiles falling off the wall in the bathroom. After we assessed the situation and saw that the plaster board was to wet for us to be able to fix it ourselves, we called Jim and he was here the next day....this is a bathroom that was last updated in the '50's so we decided on a complete update....it took 2 weeks and he had it ready by the time my tenant was having a 1st birthday party for her daughter...LOVE IT!!!!

Oronoque Home Improvement did an EXCELLENT job for my husband and I. We have used this company for many years, for many projects, and continue to go back to them!! All the work for this very large home improvement job was done professionally, on time, and at the agreed upon cost. Jim and his guys are very patient with all my questions, and are always helpful with suggestions to repair any unforeseen problems that arise. Jim goes above and beyond to find the small pieces that are needed to complete a project. But the thing I like best about Oronoque Home Improvement is that all of the guys are very professional in their work and the way they treat my home. The jobs are cleaned up each day, and the house is vacuumed inside, making it hard to tell that work is even being done. Thank you Jim for helping us keep our home looking so great!!
Description of Work: Inside house painting (laundry room and bathroom), outside house painting and staining, garage painting and staining, repairing chimneys, window moldings, house trim, and wood shingles. Various other small home improvements.
The positives: -The work was quality. Siding guys, Dennis and Russ are true craftsmen and took their time to make sure all was excellent. Carpenter, Chico and his crew were great as well. All of them were always on time and worked long days -Work recommendations were fair and honest: The replacement of front porch was a surprise, once the shingles were off, we could see the supports for the floor and the dormer (1906 craftsman) needed to be to be replaced. -Price was fair for the quality of work. The negatives: Jim, the owner. They started in late May and certainly extra work of replacing the front and back porches work started bleeding into and July and then August. Understandable that he had to juggle other jobs that he had lined up for the summer. The majority of work besides a few small items here and there were done by August 8. I gave the final check and we went over the finalizing items I needed (I trusted that he would follow through in a timely manner). I also emailed him to recap our conversation asking him to take care of these all items by the first week of September. 1. Final detailed invoice paid in full. 2. Final paint of doors and columns (and names/colors of paint used) 3. Warranty paperwork for products and workmanship 4. Replace water meter 5. Patch a chunk of concrete that came off during porch demo After not hearing from Jim by the last week of August, I texted him. He said he'd be there to complete the second week of September as he was in Italy for his wedding anniversary. I got annoyed as he had three weeks or even communicate with me to complete these small tasks and I told him so. I told him it would have to be the week after as we'd would be out of town the second week, he agreed. I texted him at the start of the week he said he would come to find out what day he would be there and to reiterate that he was to take care of everything on the list that day. When I didn't hear from him by mid week, I texted him and told him I would get Angie's List involved. He texted me that evening asking if the following day or Friday would be okay. He came Friday with one guy, he gave me all the paperwork for the warranties, but seemed very confused as to what a final invoice should look like (really? I am the first person to ever ask for one??!). We looked at the hole in the siding gave me a few options (he had lost our water meter)- none ideal. I told him if he wasn't sure if a water meter should be replaced, he should have asked me to contact Aquarion before cutting the hole. We agreed that he would find a water meter to install over the hole (it was only after he said he lost our water meter did he suggest I contact Aquarion to see if one was needed). He left and his worker was painting and I thought would finish up the water meter and concrete patch- he left after painting (without letting me know). I called Jim and he said he would finish up the water meter the following week. The concrete when he was pouring it at a nearby job. I was not happy. He emailed me a few days later with the final invoice- not what we had discussed. I replied to his email on September 25 with exactly what I wanted and asked him to copy and paste into his invoice template and email to me- he agreed. I told him this would be the last follow up I have with him (I was so tired of chasing him down all the time). The water meter is attached now (was installed a few weeks ago). However, it is now November 1 and I still I don't have the final invoice or the patch in the concrete fixed... While these are small tasks...Take note that I paid him very good money to take care of everything. He even said he does not leave a job until the customer is fully satisfied. He is working on a $180,000 project (which is he very proud of and talked openly about) 3 blocks from here. (I guess he didn't care enough about the $70,000 we paid him once that other contract was signed). How difficult would it be to send a guy over to patch the concrete? How about copying and pasting the invoice detail? I have no confidence if anything did go wrong that Jim would be willing to honor his workmanship without exhaustive chasing him down. I've also learned my lesson- don't make final payment until every little thing is complete- no matter how much you've built a relationship with a contractor.
Description of Work: Remove and replace roofing shingles and half of plywood on roof. Remove cedar shingles, wrap, insulate, new cedar-look siding. Demo and replace front and back porches Replace two 2 cellar windows
The project went very well. Jim has a hard working crew who come on time, are respectful of you and your home and who do a through clean up after each work day. There were a couple of bumps in the road; it would be unrealistic to expect other wise in a project of this magnitude. When the issues were brought to Jim's attention he responded immediately; everything was resolved to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Tore out old deck and replaced it with a much larger, better finished deck. Used top notch materials, quality construction. Careful attention to the foundation, framing details, weather proofing ,etc. as well as the parts you can see. Finished product looks excellent; many favorable comments from neighbors who became "inspectors". Installed a new sliding glass door and window. Replaced two windows, including a bow window. Replaced shingles, trim, etc. in the areas around the windows and door - it looks great

Bathroom was a 60's leftover...as always his workers are the most polite, trustworthy, and pleasant that we have had the pleasure working with...Jim always calls back within a matter of hours, or if it is an emergency quicker...all his auxiliary workers ie: electric, plumbing are excellent. Is the only contractor we trust and will use..We live in a pre war 3 family house that needs something done every year....Last year it was a new roof and gutters...and just to let everyone know, last year (2014) Jim and his workers were in a bucket truck in the dead of winter, patching flashing on the side of our roof because we had a nest of squirrels living in our attic...you can't ask for anything better than that !

Jim communicated very well and the crew was extremely courteous and punctual. They took a bad situation and due to their skills and communication made life easier. They did the job in approximately 6 1/2 weeks working 6 days a week and we are very happy with the finished product. In fact, the home looks better than it did before. In the future we will renovate our main floor bathroom and will use Oronoque.

The contractor called to find out where i was located and what i needed done. Almost a week went by without any contact from them and an email came saying that Angie had them running and i should ask Angie's List for a refund. I contacted you and was told that your big deal dept. Would check out the problem and honor the deal with another roofing company but, they never contacted me with another roofer, just an email asking for a little time to find another roofer. I tried two more of your member contractors and one said he was builder contractor and would come back on Thursday(this was Tuesday.) with his roofer, he never came back or bothered to call and cancel, the third roofer said he'd be at my house he next day and never showed up. I never heard from the big deal dept again. So i am requesting a refund because i found another roofing company who is licensed and insured but, not an Angie's List member. Please send me my refund i have wasted too much time already. Thank you.

Jim and his team did a great job. Jim takes great pride in his work and wants a completed project that reflects quality and good taste. So he gave us good advice along the way about what needed to be done and what should be done, and the work was done impeccably. He was responsive to our questions along the way and provided updates on progress regularly. His workers were great too. They were respectful and considerate, and they are talented carpenters and painters. Jim and his team really transformed the exterior of our home and the process was relatively painless. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Oronoque was here for about an entire month. 6 days a week as long it didn't rain. The owner Jim Faris was on site everyday and was working along with his crew. His team is very professional and very courteous. They unpacked and cleaned up every day. His team also takes lots of time to make sure the job gets done right. This is important. From when they arrive to when the leave, it was a nice experience. Jim also takes lots of time to explain why and how they are building the deck the way they were. Every house needs work, and some places on the home need it more than others. Jim was able to help us understand what needed to be done first, and what would wait a little longer. I didn't feel like he was pressuring me. It was more along the lines of this is Good but that maybe you should look at that earlier than later kinda thing. Also Jim provided references, lots of pictures and we visited another job he did so see the deck work. 1. Remove existing 2 roofs, Removing all gutters. Replace all Soffit, Facia and Rake trim with Azek. Install ice and water 36" to the entire perimeter at gutters. Balance of roof to have vinyl roofing paper. Replace all vent boots and check all flashings. Install 30 year architectual style shines and new 6" gutters with 4" leaders. He also installed new Soffit vents. Also I needed clapboard replaced and painted in some areas as well so they did the entire side of my home. It was in pretty bad shape but now looks great! 2. Same as above but for dormers about the garage and also install new clapboard on the dormers. 3. Remove existing deck. Install new pressure treated frame (2x10), new pressure treated header (2x10) Installation of Azek deck with composite railings. There is a lot of work in this one as you can assume from demo to rebuild. 4. Lots of new Azek trim around the garage, and rest of the house. 5. Family room with vaulted ceiling both painted and repaired. 6. Installation of new Kitchen slider. 7. Repair of pocket door. Repair of Saddle from Kitchen to Family room.
Description of Work: We had two new roofs installed, a new Azek composite deck, lots of trim work replaced with Azek, whole exterior house painting, interior painting, interior woodwork, new front storm door, new storm door into the porch. Porch repainted and rescreened as well as screening under the porch to stop the bugs. Screens were all repaired as well. In my home we had a lot! New sliding door from the kitchen on to the deck along with trim work. Basically if it was outside the house, they touched it.
