After each of our snow storms this season, of which we have had many this season, the company would drive in at unpredictable times with snow plows and build a wall of snow in front of my car, making it inaccessible. It took me a day of shoveling to dig my car out the first time they did it. I caught them the second time and they promised they would no longer do it. When the next snow storm hit, they literally dumped the entire parking lot worth of snow right on top of my car and created a wall of snow in front of it. I called daily for a week but never received a response from them. I wrote a letter to the owners who keep the books and they said the service owner would be by to address the problem. When he finally arrived (a week after the original incident), he said he would send someone at 10AM the following day and to please alert the other owners. I typed up a letter, distributed it to the rest of the owners in the association, but no one ever arrived. I called the day after that and he said they would be here within two hours. When someone finally arrived he said he knew nothing about my car and that they could not dig it out. I told him if I had no access to it for weeks, and aside from not being able to use it, the battery would die. He said it had probably been dead all along and he and the young men with him laughed and started mocking me. I called the owner and he said they had placed the snow in the best possible place and that there was nothing he could do about the problem now because it required a special machine. Then he hung up on me. I see the potential for professional behavior but after what I was just subjected to, I would strongly recommend that anyone in the neighborhood avoid this service if they can. A provider who cannot treat clients with respect and address problems created as a result of the conduction of his services, creates more problems than he solves. It is possible that I would have been treated differently if I had not been a woman, but overall, my experience with them has been a disaster. If I were in charge of the books, I would be changing services right now. Unfortunately, as I noted above, it seems the city has been relying on them and therefore they do not have to worry about their reputation with individual clients, probably the reason they are willing to treat them this badly. I have never been treated with less respect by any service provider. In addition, this problem is well over a week old, has not been resolved, and may never be resolved, but it is likely the association will still be saddled with a bill for several thousand dollars. I am also concerned that they will damage the car if they ever do try to dig it out and not take responsibility for that, either. I cannot warn anyone enough about this service provider. Please proceed with caution before using them. I am beginning to doubt I will ever have use of my car again. I am a professor with a current credit score of 830 and generally very positive about service providers. This one has left me in a state of shock. I will try to append a photograph that shows my neighbor's car next to the mound of snow my car is under. I am grateful to Angie's list for providing a forum within which to share these experiences. UPDATE 2/20/11: As I reported earlier, the snow removal service sends plows at arbitrary times and they came at night around January 24th and buried my car by dumping the snow they were "removing" on top of it. They also pushed the remaining snow up against it, creating a big wall of snow that remains there more than three weeks later. They never answered my calls. When the association finally contacted them they promised to come the following day at 10AM but never showed up. When they came the day after that they said they did the best they could and would bring a "Bobcat" as soon as one was available. Weeks later there is no sign they will do anything at all and I still have no access to the car. Therefore, this company has left me with no access to my car for over three weeks, is unresponsive, and does not do a very good job. Our entire driveway has been dangerously icy for the past three weeks. The service will probably return after the snow we expect tonight. My expectation is that they will make matters worse. I cannot move the car as I have no access to it but since they will only come with the plows, they will probably just pack more snow in front of my car and/or on top of it. They clearly do not care about anyone except for the actual people who pay the bills. They also have city contracts which probably makes them dismissive of individual clients. This has been a harsh winter and they are understandably overwhelmed, but their rudeness, unresponsiveness, and general way of treating people is beyond my ability to understand their behavior. I also am appalled that a snow removal service can get away with leaving anyone without access to their car for three weeks and still get paid thousands of dollars for their work. Granted, one problem is that our books are handled by an elderly couple on fixed income. They do not manage the association correctly and that is a piece of this problem but I still find the company to be at fault here and would not recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: Our condo association uses them as a snow removal service and in a bad winter the cost is several thousand dollars. We are a 5-unit condo association, self managed, so every owner is affected directly in all management matters. This company has provided both snow removal services and repaving services and their performance overall is probably average in the industry, but when a problem arises they do not return calls, they are rude, and take no responsibility for their actions when they make a mistake. It seems they have contracts with the municipality and therefore do not need to worry about client satisfaction. This has been a rough winter and it is true that it would be difficult for snow removal services to have a hard time keeping clients happy in an environment where every place is so saturated with snow that it is virtually impossible to know where to put it, but to treat clients the way they treated me is something I find unforgivable. I hope no one has to put up with the treatment I was subjected to.
