In reading the review of John in Wallingford, Ct. I feel since I only wanted the dampers fixed and ended up with a $3700 bill was I taken? I think that Rob was knowledgeable about his work but we would never know if all the work he did was needed when we only thought we were going to get the dampers fixed. We have to trust Top Notch but we are still reeling at the unexpected expense. The work is probably "top notch" so we are hoping we made the right decision in saying "yes" to all the things Rob said we needed. The only reason I can't give all five stars is because we lack knowledge of this work and it's unseen. We also don't know if the price was good because we just don't know.

Excellent crew was sent to the house to do the work. Nice people and efficient workers. I couldn't ask for more.

I asked this company to inspect the chimneys and fireplaces in my house. We plan to install a wood burning fireplace insert. I was told that the smoke chamber would need to be lined..not true according to fireplace installer. I was told that the furnace exhaust is blocked to less than -.0002 draw because the flue was clogged by chimney liner. I was advised to have a new liner installed and done quickly to the tune of $3200. I paid $75 for this inspection. We were very alarmed that carbon monoxide would be leaking into the house so I made an appointment with our regular furnace service company for two days later. The technician checked the draw and said, first of all, the draw was actually too much and we actually loosing heat up the chimney. Secondly, the lining of the flue would not have worked because is about a 90 degree jog in the flue (which runs horizontally for 20 feet toward the main chimney), that would have prevented proper installation of the liner.

the person who went to my house completely upset my tenant jhe called me to discuss the chimney when I asked him to email the report so I could understand what he was talked about he still kept trying to tell me things to date I do not have a copy of the report

The guys came out quite a bit late and were only supposed to do an inspection and cleaning. Of course, they found some things wrong with the chimney damper and suggested we replace it. They installed a lock-top chimney cap and damper for us, cleaned the chimney and removed all the crap fairly quickly. That whole process was fine, but the cost was really high. I had my inspector come by to see what they did and he was quite surprised at the high cost. They also suggested having the liner in our flute replaced which the inspector highly disagreed with doing. We couldn't afford to do it and thankfully we didn't. Overall the quality of their work was great and even our inspector spoke to how well it was cleaned. However, not the best bang for your buck. I highly suggest getting 3-4 of these guys to give you a quote before picking one. They will all tell you a different story. Spend your money wisely!

They cleaned my chimney and then fixed liner & cap so wood stove could be used without issue. What I thought would take a couple weeks all together between cleaning, ordering parts and then installation-actually only took a couple days. Their work was fast & clean, I would highly recommend them to all.

The company never showed up, they were supposed to come at 10 and called me at 3 and said that they wouldn't be able to come until the next Monday. I took that day off as well and when I called they informed me that I wasn't on the schedule for that day. They did offer to come on Saturday and we waited, and still no one ever showed up.
