Description of Work: We were misquoted the price and cost a lot more than expected. The movers stated the owner does that all the time. Had we known we would have shopped around for a better price and better experience.

Unlike most other companies, we actually have zero hidden fees or extra charges, we charge a straight hourly rate. Any time a move takes longer than we might anticipate, it is not because it was done on purpose. We have a busy schedule and want to be in and out of each move as quickly as possible. We often rely on information that we receive over the phone to quote the job, and for the most part this info paints an accurate picture. Sometimes however, the move may end up being quicker or longer based on the actual circumstances that we encounter on the job.

Description of Work: The two young men arrived 15 minutes late. When I called the office he said it was a misunderstanding and he had told me they would arrive at 830 not 800 but when the truck arrived they said they had gotten lost. so it was all good. as soon as they arrived they got right to work, and were very professional they were respectful and hard working. We really liked the fact that they were well spoken and didn't curse . also there wasn't any butt cleavage. They packed the truck quickly and well. we were very happy

Description of Work: They moved furniture from a packed rental storage unit back to my home (I had floors re-done in 3 rooms). Two gentlemen came and did a terrific job moving the furniture, including a heavy wooden wall unit. They were professional, courteous, careful and friendly. I will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: The only reason we gave the company a "B" for punctuality is because there was a communication snafu. Otherwise, the company was excellent. They were careful with the furniture and helped dissemble and reassemble a beast of a bed. Very professional. Very friendly. Thank you.

Description of Work: Weeks before our interstate move, I made a deposit by PayPal for truck unloading services. Team of two showed up at the requested time. They did not tarry - despite being paid by the hour. Towards the end, they started bringing things into ANY room - rather than the room specified on the box. But that is really minor because they were careful and efficient. To settle the balance, they had to call the office and this proved a bit problematic. Eventually, we heard back how much I owed, and I paid, but they were not set up to provide me a receipt. But the price was fair and service was very good.

Description of Work: Moved 4 or 5 pieces of furniture plus boxes from my mother's 2nd floor condo to a new apartment. The stairs in the condo are narrow but they accomplished the job without any damage and did it within the 2 hour estimate. The workers were prompt, courteous and efficient I would definitely hire them again if I needed help moving.

The gentlemen arrived at the customer'a house to find extreme clutter, mess, and even visible cockroaches. Dirty dishes in the sink and everwhere, and no attempt what-so-ever to prepare for the job. The crew stayed as long as possible in attempt to move the big pieces but they were unable to work through the conditions. The customer was not charged for the move and I explained that we would come back in the event she was able to clean and get packed up. I even recommended someone who owns a packing and de-cluttering business. When I mentioned the cockroaches as part of the problem, the customer literally laughed out loud and said "oh yeah, we do have a few of those running around don't we". On my end, we have no hard feelings and we wish there was something we could have done to help customer in this scenerio.

Description of Work: Had several heavy pieces of furniture that needed to be moved to our new home. They couldn't have done a better job. They arrived on time and were polite and efficient. The movers were careful with our stuff and mindful of the hardwood floors that had recently been refinished.

They were really good. All the employees are very friendly. They worked hard and late into the day. They moved everything very quietly and were neat. They were concerned about my stuff. I was happy with the services. I used them prior to store my things after the hurricane. I really trust their services and will use them again once I can move back to my house.
Description of Work: My lease was up and I got into another apartment on short notice. I called them up and they moved me within the week.

This was the worst moving company - if you can call it a company - 2 young studs should be called 2 'duds' they arrived late they brought no tools, which delayed the move it took 3 hours move out a one bedroom apt (when all boxes had been packed by the consumer/ customer, not the mover, ahead of time) then another 3 hours to move into another one bedroom apt they dented my apt wall, broke an end of my new headboard, broke the glass frame of one of my pictures they didn't want to put together the furniture they disassembled and then grumbled when they were asked to they did not wrap or take any standard care with the furniture the owner 'chris' raised his voice to the women consumers they were cursory, lazy and unprofessional they haphazardly placed boxes they booked another job to coincide with this one and tried to run out before finishing the job - this was lead by the head guy 'chris' they requested gratuity!!! no one, no customer should have had to go through this this mover will be reported negatively to the better business bureau please heed the warning and avoid this so-called mover

This review was just brought to my attention. The job referenced above was an interstate move that took place in May of 2012. The customer moved from Hamden, CT to Boston, MA. We quoted a flat rate of $875 (not 975), which is extremely competitive for this type of move. Typically for interstate moves I make my best effort to conduct an in-house estimate. I was unable to attend the estimate for this job and I sent a quote out anyway because the customer needed help on such short notice. Upon arrival, the job was actually much bigger than we expected. Despite it being a bigger job, I did not change my flat rate and we stuck to the original price. Had I seen the apartment prior to the move I would have quoted a much higher rate. The customer received an extremely competitive price that was way below market value for this job. We plugged away and moved things out of a third floor walk up. Again, it was a flat rate and I am surprised that the customer mentioned the timing as her main concern. Also, we did not rush off to another job because when customers hire us for interstate jobs we always dedicate an entire truck for the full day for that particular job. Regarding the wall, we did nick the wall with her couch on the way out of her original location. However, I immediately went to the maintenance man at the complex who gave us some material to fix the wall. We fixed the minor damage while we were there and the maintenance man said there would be no charge to the tenant at all for the damage and it was indeed fixed properly. Nothing else that I recall was damaged. I believe the customer left review because the move took longer than we all expected. One thing that I make clear in our written estimates is that we do not guarantee any specific times for completion for our flat rate jobs. Given that I charged a flat binding rate, we tried our best to hustle through to prevent unexpected costs from building up. With that said though, we did not rush off to another job because when customers hire us for interstate jobs we always dedicate an entire truck for the full day for that particular job. I am taken back by this review, because the above account of this customer's move is not how my mover or I recall the day panning out. I am the owner of the company and I was personally on this job with one of my more senior workers. I did not send two "duds" as the customer suggests. Instead, I put myself on the job and I can assure you that over the last 9 years I have built up enough experience over the thousands of jobs that I have personally handled to handle even the most difficult or unusual situations properly. -Chris, Owner of 2 Young Studs Moving

This was the worst moving experience of my lifetime. Though I told them it was a 3 person job, they only sent two people. When the two people who came to move me were done, they quit, even though the job was less than 50% done. They sent out other movers, but at no time during my discussions with them did they tell me that this was how they operated. They sent movers who were unprepared to take furniture apart, who did not know how to do it and who did not bring equipment with them to do so. They did not bring moving blankets, and they did not reassemble the furniture they took apart. This move took them two days to move me across town, and their owner was beligerant toward me in the end. Bad experience. Would not recommend to others.
Description of Work: I rented the truck. 2 Young Studs provided the labor to move the contents of my apartment to my new house. In all they moved a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, two bedrooms and a storage space.

I don't know where the communication happened or how, but I can say that you did order a "labor-only service" which is designed to provide loading and unloading moving support. I tell all of our labor-only customers that blankets and tools are not included unless its a full service move. Our trucks are equipped with power tools, blankets, dollies, and everything else needed to get jobs done. Customers who rent trucks need to supply their own equipment. The crew called me and asked if they could leave at 6 and I said that would be OK because at that point I had another crew lined up. They also knew that if the other crew was unable to make it, that they needed to stay to finish the job. Your job was virtually uninterrupted because the other crew showed up 20 minutes after the first crew left to resume the job. After working for 7 hours perhaps they were tired so in this case it was good to get Omar and myself there because we had fresh legs and had the motivation to get done quickly. I am a small business owner and the buck stops at me. I do not recall personally complaining to you or anyone else about me showing up at your job to finish that night. I worked for free in my business clothes and made a personal sacrifice, but none the less, I was there at your house, taking accountability and working for free, doing my best to make sure you were happy. Speaking of free.... because your move didn't go as smoothly as we both had hoped, I didn't even bother charging you for several hours of time. How much did your total move cost? I think you got a pretty good deal. You were only charged for 6 hours, $420 total. You were not charged for the time taking the bed apart, the time Omar and I spent unloading, or the time Omar spending loading and unloading with our truck the next day. These costs came out of my pocket, and as a matter of fact I didn't make a single dime on your move, it actually cost me $250+. Your last line of the email says you will be honest with people who ask about your moving experience. Well I would hope that response would include the fact that there was a miscommunication and that I was/am sorry that it happened. Also that I did not charge you for time more than you thought it should take and I kept you as close to you initial budget as possible. Finally, I took steps to prevent a future mishap from occurring again, I changed my moving schedule the next day so that we could finish the job, and I was responsive throughout the entire process. If there is anything that I didn't do that you thought I should have, then I apologize, I tried to be as fair as possible. Moves like this are a nightmare scenario for you the customer and me as well. it is in my best interest to learn from the mistakes and improve the service going forward. I look forward to resolving this review issue amicably so if there is anything I can do on my end to make up for it I would appreciate the input.

The services provided were amazing. The movers were very accommodating of our schedule - even when we called them to push back the movers' arrival time - and were incredibly professional. The two young men who showed up were friendly and incredibly careful with our boxes. They were courteous and always asked where we wanted a box or piece of furniture to be placed if the item wasn't labeled clearly. They even were so thoughtful as to arrange our furniture and boxes for us so they would be easily accessible. Even though the company is technically out of New Haven, the two movers who helped us (in Southington) were from 10-15 minutes away. They service all of Connecticut. If you're looking to save money on moving expenses and you want to drive the truck yourself, 2 Young Studs is a great way to get amazing service for the loading/unloading process.
