Vasseur Landscaping

Please read this review in its entirety. Before I went on a weeks vacation I contacted Vasseur Landscaping and asked him if he could cut my lawn so once I came back from vacation it wasn't too out of control. I explained to the owner that I take very good care of my lawn and I would like it maintained the same way. Neighbors have commented that I have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. I also informed him that I would pay extra to have the grass cut bagged and for him to use his 21" mower on the front lawn to maintain the pattern I've created. I have no problem paying for his time; providing the work is completed professionally. I used Vasseur last year to perform this very same thing and it came out fine. In addition, my lodge awarded Vasseur a $32,000.00 contract that I fought hard for them to get. I was very satisfied with Vasseur up until now and here is why. When I came home from vacation this time I noticed as soon as I pulled into the driveway there were large clumps of dead grass all over the lawn. Upon further inspection as I walked around the yard the lawn was scalped to the dirt, the mower ripped up the turf, portions of the lawn were not even cut, cut grass was pilled in every bed. I spent three hours with a metal rake raking the piles of dead grass off the lawn in an effort to save it. If I could down load pictures you would get a better understanding as I took many pictures in the event the lawn doesn't come back I plan on taking legal action against Vasseur. Now this may not sound like a big deal to some but here is where this situation turns worse.... I called Vasseur to express my complete disdain for the work that was performed, after trading a few voice mails back and forth the owner showed up as I was working to save the lawn. I explained to him in a very colorful way that I was appalled by this work and he should be ashamed his name is associated with poor work his employees did on this job. The owner went on to make excuse after excuse instead of taking an ounce of responsibility of the mess he left me. I walked him around the property,. showed him the pictures of the mess before I cleaned it up, showed the lawn scalped to the dirt, the missed areas, clumps of grass, dead spots etc etc. He continued to make excuse after excuse and wouldn't take any responsibility. He claimed his maintenance guy was with him for "40 years", the rain was a big problem, he's been in business for 45 years, he was doing me a favor in squeezing me in for the cut, he does much larger lawns than this, and on and on with no culpability what so ever . He become so belligerent he called my lawn "p***" and my lawn is" the ugliest lawn he cuts".... He further went on to say something to the effect that another neighbor who lives on my street who he knows should have come over and punched me in my face. For those of you reading this, I can assure you my lawn was not "p***" before he cut it. I spend lots of time and money on this lawn and I receive many positive comments from the neighbors. The neighbors who saw his staff cutting my lawn made the comment of "they looked like a bunch hoodlums that spent more time picking up their pants then cutting your lawn". They also noticed the total lack of professionalism from his staff and the poor manner in how they cut the lawn. In conclusion; Vasseur performed work for me and my lodge in the past that wassatisfactory. However, the work performed in the past is now overshadowed by this past incident. All I was looking for was the owner to take responsibility for the painfully obvious horrendous quality of work. For him to belittle me (the customer) and my property is completely unacceptable!!!!!! I have never been treated so poorly by a contractor in my life. If I treated my customers they way he treated me I would be out of business in a day.... For those of you looking to hire a landscaping contractor to maintain your lawn the only thing I can say to you is look elsewhere before you hire this company.
