Description of Work: Replaced old garage door opener with a new opener. Installation was relatively quick and I had no problems with the unit afterwards.

Description of Work: The technician arrived on time and was very personable, professional and clearly very experienced with garage door installation and repair. The problem he came to repair was a garage door that would only open about 1/3 of the way. The actual trouble took less than 1 second to repair but was extremely tricky to diagnose. I was very satisfied with the technician and the work he performed. | |My C grade on Responsiveness is because the office was much more focused on how I could meet their appointment schedule than how they could meet my availablilty. They actually cancelled the first visit when they called about 1/2 hour before the appointment and didn't reach me to confirm I was home. I returned their call within 2 minutes, yes TWO minutes, but they'd already sent him on his way to the next location. As I recall the next available appointment was over a week away. I wasn't too impressed with that.

Description of Work: Spring on garage door broke leaving door inoperable. Tech came & repaired spring temporarily so door could be used. He ordered new spring and when it arrived he came & installed it. He also tuned it up and made a big improvement.Very knowledgable.

Description of Work: Installed a Genie power garage door motor on my existing and previously unpowerd garage door. No problems with any aspect of the work and the tech even tuned up my other 2 garage doors while he was out installing the new motor and offered some helpful advice for maintenance. Great company and I will use them to upgrade my other 2 old garage door motors since the new one is so much quieter than my 13 year old ones.

Description of Work: I contacted Douglas Garage Door via email through Angie's List over the weekend. They responded first thing Monday morning with information and a date/time they would drop by to provide an estimate. The technician was able to repair the problem on his first visit under one hour. The technician and all employees that contacted me were courteous and professional. I Highly recommend them.

Description of Work: I contacted Douglas Doors for a new door for my 99yr old aunt's home. I had used Douglad Doors previously at my home and was very satisfied. When the salesman showed up in June of this year, I had a coupon for $50 off and I showed the saleman. He told me that because the garage had settled, that it would not be prudent to spend the $$ on a new door as there would be a 3" gap in the door and the ground. He could not ethically recommend purchasing a new door for a garage that was over 70 yrs. old. It seemed to be an honest statement so I thanked him for his forthright approach. As summer wore on, I had gone to several other garage door places and no one seemed to be able to come up with a solution for an older garage so I went back to Douglas in September. The gal at the desk told me that she would send another salesman to meet with me at my aunts garage. A technican showed up and he identified himself as such. He was just going to look at the door to see if a new door was feasible and that he would pass the information on to a salesman. I waited for about 4 weeks for a salesman to call. This time, another salesman told me that they could find a fit for the door and that the door would be "no problem" so I showed him the coupon while he wrote out the estimate even though the coupon had expired from the origional call in June. He told me that I could handle that with the office and that the office would send me the estimate in the mail. The estimate arrived and I sent a deposit for half of the amount. It was probably my oversight at this point in time as I did not include the coupon. When the job was finally finished in November, the bill arrived and I paid it even though the coupon price of $50 was not deducted. I called the office and asked the gal if I could stil use the coupon. She said no as it had expired. I told her that I had stared this "process" back in June and that I had dealt with 3 different persons, 2 of whom were salesmen and one of which was a technician. I just wanted Angies List to be aware that Douglas Doors seems to have taken its "place" on Angie's List for granted. My situation seems to be similar to that game that we all played in 3rd grade where the first person whispers something to the second person and then the second person whispers what the first person said to the thrid person and so and so on. By the time the 5th person gets the "whisper, it is not the same whisper as was told to the 1st/2nd persons. Its called communication which Douglas needs to be reminded of between the front office, the sales force, the technicians and the customer. I am not disputing the $50 as it was perhaps my responsiblity to include it origionally but with whom was I to deal with would be my question. Perhaps Douglas got too big, too fast, too soon?
