I don't know whether the owner or the operator in the website is still working for them who was nice and did good work. So I don't have any complaints about others just different but just what I was expecting. They seemed okay. I really didn't have them do any work but didn't give me a good indication either way.
Description of Work: I used One Stop Home Repairs in April this year. They just did some landscaping which was very small.

Very disappointing. We had a variety of work that needed to be done and initially they seemed responsive and reasonably priced. They underwent some personnel issues and became disorganized and seemed to be cutting corners. Over time we have found that much of the work they did was of poor quality and design and had to be fixed or completely redone. I emailed and phoned them to give them an opportunity to rectify the situation but they have not responded as of this date. Update - the response from the owner is inaccurate. We did pay for the walkway to be repaired ($750). The subsequent contractors we had to hire commented on the poor workmanship. And the steps were not the only problem. We had to fix or redo ALL the other mentioned work with the exception of the customized doors. We were pleased with the ordering (which we could not do directly) and installation of the customized doors, which were expensive and customized by another company. As the year progressed the poor workmanship became increasingly apparent . I contacted both the current and previous owners because I knew the company changed hands halfway through the project and just asked for the refund of the walkway repair in what I thought was a more than reasonable request in that we have spent thousands of dollars repairing the rest of the work. The attitude of the original owner is evident in his response to Angie's list. Neither owner responded to me directly to follow-up regarding my concerns.

Response from One Stop Home Repairs
Yes, we were in a transition from the original owner (myself) to Derrick Smith who was one of my employees who I transferred the business to. I looked at a lot of possible options as far as a new owner and someone who could keep our good name going and Derrick was my choice based on knowing the quality of his work. The member's complaint is regarding the repair of the front walkway. The wood was rotted (which was replaced) and their complaint was regarding the top coat of cement that was put over the old concrete. We explained that there was a 50/50 chance of the repair working and I suggested leaving it alone. Because the wood was higher than the cement (the 4 x 4's were set on a cement base) there was no way of making the wood flush with the old cement so we put on a top coat to level it out. It should be noted that we only charged her for the wood replacement but in view of the other work we were doing (and the fact my mason was already there) I agree to put the cement on top and DID NOT charge her for the additional work. Now, a year later she calls me and demands $750 (the cost of the repair) back. Well, #1, I don't run the business anymore and #2 she wants me to reimburse her for work we didn't charge her for in the first place! Nothing said about the new custom door that was installed, the leaks repaired, the rot fixed or anything else. Just the walkway. I should have told her $7500 and ripped it all out completely but they had a lot of projects and had to choose their spending according to priority. When I woned the business I always try to satisfy the customer but sometimes you just cant no matter what.

He was very knowledgable and I didn't feel like he was trying to push any work that didn't need to be done. However, he was much more expensive than some other people that I had talked to. I didn't end up using his services, but he did refer me to a really good plumber.

I was amazed how talented he was. He fixed everything I asked him to. He was on time and was reasonably priced. I called him the second time and he did not get back to me. I think word had spread that he was reasonably priced and extremely talented. I spent around $300 on that work. I was extremely satisfied that I tried getting him out again and he did not return my calls. I would consider him in the future.

I had gotten a estimates from two other companies. I was getting frustrated because I considered those estimates to be ridiculously high and the details surrounding the work estimate suspect. I joined and checked Angie's list for potential contractors and contacted One Stop Home Repair. I dealt with Derrick Smith throughout the process. Derrick provided me with the estimate and he and his brother performed the work. Derrick was very courteous and professional during the entire process. My Dad had been a contractor and I considered the estimate that I received to be reasonable for the time and materials required. Derrick arrived on the prearranged date, but since it was raining, they put up the scaffolding and returned the next day to do the repairs. They had all the necessary tools to do the job and completed the work in an efficient manner. They left the work site in an undisturbed condition. The work appears to be very well done; however, since outside brick work is involved, only time will tell. I am very well satisfied with the experience.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced spalling and missing brick from my chimney (outside). Replaced a rusted Lally (steel support) column in the garage.

We had them do all our work last year. We've worked with them probably three or four times. I like that they promptly respond to requests for work. I think the pricing is pretty fair. I think they do a very good job. They are pleasant to work with. They are trust worthy. I have had them in my house when I haven't been home. I think overall they are very good. I've used them only for handyman service. They did the nursery bed for me and they assembled it. I had them do real good construction type work. We would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used One Stop Home Repairs. I last used their services probably about two months ago, in April may be. They installed a nursery bed and replaced a toilet.

This outfit was professional and competent. I'd been trying to get my gutter repaired since a tree tore out the old gutter nearly a month earlier. Two different guys gave me the runaround and I couldn't even extract an estimate! Within a week of my first phone call to One Stop Home repairs I had an estimate (for $200 less than the other clowns) and the work was completed. On time and promptly. I will definitely call them again.

Overall I am very happy with the work done by Derrick and his crew. They worked fast, showed up when they said they would, and were very pleasant to deal with. The work was neat and they left everything very tidy. The interior doors they hung turned out great. Also, I am particularly happy with the ceramic tile floor installed in the upstairs bathroom. The only suggestion I have is that you know exactly what you are getting when fixtures or other items are part of the price. For example, the new tub we got is a little bigger than the original. This normally wouldn't be a problem except that the bathroom is very narrow, and they had to build the wall out a bit in one area to accommodate the new tub. This made for a very small space between the vanity and the wall. Any issues that I had could have been avoided by simply being there while the work was being done. For the price we paid, the work was more than fair and I would definitely use Derrick again. He was very nice and accommodating in a less than ideal situation, and we appreciated the great job he did for us.
Description of Work: Derrick and his crew remodeled an upstairs bathroom. This included new fixtures, removing old wallpaper and painting the walls (excellent job), installing a new vanity, new floor, electrical fixtures. They also installed some doors in another part of the house, did some finish work on trim that had been left by a previous person.

Very simply, I called OneStop around the Xmas holiday and left a voice message that I needed a handyman to replace a garage door opener unit with one I bought at Home Depot. Of course I left my contact info, but I did not a get a response. In this particular situation my handywoman wife was able to repair the existing unit and I was able to return the new one, so we saved on both the parts and labor. Maybe OneStop doesn't do this type of work but they should have called.

Description of Work: The previous owner had run a fairly good business. He moved and may have sold his business to a new owner. Hmmm - did he bother to call back to see if we even got the call - obviously not. Did he leave a correct contact number? Who knows. e-mail is a permanent record and frankly, I wish all our customers would contact us that way. We try to respond to inquiries ASAP. I really think that Angies list needs to change their policy. If no work is done then the customer should not be able to write a report.

I would be able to rate their work if they ever showed up. Set an appointment a week in advance and the electrician was supposed to call the night before to confirm the time. Did not hear from him. Called in the morning and left messages still no callback. Called their alternate number and got the direct number for the electrician and left him a message. after another hour or so of waiting around called the electrician again and he said "sorry.. can't come today" . Nice!! so he was not even going to call me and tell me that they were not coming?? a complete waste of a morning.

Response from One Stop Home Repairs
Our company is going through a transition right now with the addition of a new partner. Unfortunately, the appointment was made with an associate who is no longer with the company and I was unaware of the request for an electrician. When I was contacted by the customer directly, I had my electrician call him but he was unavailable for 2 days due to previously scheduled work. It does not seem right that a customer can give a negative feedback if no work was completed but as you can see from the other customers serrviced this is normally not the case. One Stop Home Repairs strives to get AAA ratings from all our customers.
