Academy Overhead Door

Matthew did a great job tuning up our garage door/opener. He told me everything he would do (adjust chain tension, lubricate door hinges, etc.) and did it efficiently. He also adjusted the main spring so it wasn't making some jumping sounds it had been making and made me aware of some extra services/products they offer without doing a "hard sell". I ended up buying a maintenance kit from him - spray lube, tubes of grease for chain and door seal - since it was fairly priced. This same garage door tune-up done the year before by a big name garage door company cost over twice as much. Definitely worth it.

He did a great job and was very thorough.

Called and scheduled an appointment between 11 - 1. Technician called to let me know they would be arriving about 15 minutes early. They showed up, inspected the door and provided the cost for replacing the springs as well as a couple of other recommended items. They completed the work in about 45 minutes. Will definitely call them if I need more work on the door.

This was the 4th visit in 4 months with the first being a maintenance call to service two garage doors. After servicing the doors, within a few weeks one spring broke on one of the doors so I paid a hefty price to replace the spring. Within a month I called them back since the door continued to not land smoothly and "jumped" a little on the line. I was told that it was just due to the new spring and to give it some time to work itself in. It continued to jump and eventually started landing harder and bouncing back open. Finally it would not stay closed and also would not open fully. This was 2 months after the last visit when I was told to just let it work itself in and told it was working as best as it would. So I called the company back out and they found several problems with the way the door was rolling (which should have been fixed on previous visits) as well as noting the line had been tightened incorrectly on the previous service visits. Could that have caused the spring to break? Then they charged me a service call for having to return. Except the door had never worked correctly since they first started worked on it. I continued to press that they only reason they had to return was due to errors on the part of the technician on the past several visits and I should not have to pay again to fix those mistakes. The manager held to the fact that their work only carries a 30 day guarantee and after that you have to pay again even in the error is their own-better catch the error early. (Note that if you do ever use them make sure you are really satisfied with the work right away since 30 days is not much of a guarantee to stand behind if they really are professional.) I was unbelievably disappointed in the custormer service I received and would not recommend them. As a side note the technician was very professional and helpful but was bound by the decisions of the management (which were very poor decisions.) As an update, the door stopped working several hours after the 4th appt and after another visit I was told there was now another issue that needed to be addressed. First time I heard of it and not certain why no one mentioned it before and I have no confidence that paying another $150 + will finally be the answer. I don't even have any guarantee that this is indeed the problem and may just be wasting more money. What if it doesn't fix the problem and suddenly there is yet another issue? After $500-600 outlay shouldn't I have a clear explanation of what is indeed causing the door not to work? I will look elsewhere.

The technician was on time and very professional. He completed the work listed on our tune up coupon and explained in detail what he did. Additionally, he made two recommendations of repairs. I chose to do one of them and was very pleased with the result. There was no pressure to complete the second recommendation, which I appreciated. I asked him about garage door replacements, and again, he shared options without applying any sales pressure.

Awesome...on time ...efficient....My garage door broke on a Friday afternoon. Made the appointment for Sat. morning but had to be to an appointment by 930. Technicians came early to make sure they were done to get me to my appointment. Will buy a new door from these folks in the future.

He came out today and was not able to do the work I needed because my roof was too high. When he came in he didn't know what I wanted done. He thought I was getting my gutters cleaned. He said he didn't check his listing before he came in. He also let me know that they don't make any money on the deals. I worked with him and told him to let me know when they had people on my side of town to get the deal scheduled, but he let me know again that they don't make profit off of it. It just wasn't very professional.

They were punctual, explained what needed to be done, and gave us options. The work was very professional and the garage door is nice and quiet again. We were happy with the service.

Professional. after listening to our issues with the door, the technician inspected the door and advised us the bearings/rollers had to be changed. After doing so, and tightening all the screws we haven't had a problem with the door since.

Based on the high quality reviews, I purchased a door maintenance package for $39. The technician arrived early in the show window (at my request), was knowledgeable and polite. He examined the door, explained the problem I was having and, because I said it was noisy, offered me an option (nylon rollers) to quiet it a bit (he said the main noise was due to the chain drive opener). He also offered to replace the torn weather stripping. Each of those were additional costs, but I felt no pressure to add those services. I did add them, and he finished within 40 minutes and showed me how he had fixed the problems. I was extremely happy with the entire experience.

They showed up on time. The package that was purchased was maintenance plus new rollers or a new keypad for the garage door. Since a roller had broken the day before they arrived - I chose the rollers. The greased everything and tightened/replaced bolts and overall improved the performance of the garage door. The serviceman was very polite and efficient.

Braxton was courteous and professional. He arrived on time and didn't try a 'hard sell' to get me to purchase additional services that I didn't need at this time. He did everything I expected him to day and even did a little maintenance by putting in a few screws that had come out over time. I will definitely use Academy Overhead Door in the future when I have garage door problems.

They worked on both our double door and single door. We upgraded to the nylon garage door wheels, which made it a lot quieter. That was an extra expense but it was a life time guarantee on the rollers. They adjusted the springs and balanced the doors.

He tuned up our old garage door, and found the error was with the circuit board. He replaced the garage door opener, and now it is working great. They did a very good job.
