The start of the project was slow but we'd agreed to using what time he had available at the start. But the pace never picked up and Rudy had one excuse after another for why they couldn't work full time or even consistently on our project. In the end, Rudy did not do any of the work himself, he hired assistants to work. In the end the bathroom(s) look great but the shower in one bathroom has leaked since day one and is now leaking into a closet. The main bath doesn't work well either, when the cold water is running into the tub it leaks from the shower head. Rudy will not come out to fix either issue. In addition to the leaky shower, the project took over 4 months and when something was done incorrectly I was charged additional money for the mistake. Communication was a problem. Instead of doing the work himself he hired workers. They were nice enough when we were home but left muck on the carpets throughout the house, smoked while working, and I even found chew in a container left behind (it smelled up the bathroom). After the second bath was completed we decided to part ways and not have Rudy add the walk-in closet that was part of the original quote. Rudy claimed he had always planned to leave the sliding glass doors on the front of the closet and not wall in the closet. He said I misunderstood what the project was. After several discussions about cost my husband chose to pay the full amount of the original quote (including the closet) just to be done with Rudy. When I attempted to negotiate the price with Rudy he told me I was just trying to rip him off. I admit his up front bid was lacking a lot of detail but he could never present me with material receipts to justify his prices and when we compared the prices to the items at Home Depot (exact items) there was a large discrepancy in what he was charging us. He justified the price difference by saying he had to pay more for labor because he couldn't do the work himself and we were pushing him to get it done and that he'd already given us a price break on the labor. Two weeks after the job finished we noticed the shower leaking (again) and have called several times to get Rudy to fix it. He agreed at first and set a date to look at the problem but was a no show. Additional calls have resulted in no response. Rudy's work looks great but beware, I'm not sure his team knows what they are doing when it comes to plumbing. Get pricing up front and make him give you his receipts.
Description of Work: Bathroom(s) remodel. Included moving a wall, new plumbing, drywall, shower, tub, tile, cabinets, etc. Original quote was to include complete remodels of two upstairs bathrooms and to add a walk-in closet by using the existing space saved from shrinking one bathroom. Work included moving two walls, removing an old bath tub and installing new tub, sink/cabinet, mirror, tile in one bathroom and similar work in the second bath (except put in a shower instead of a tub). After that work was completed Rudy was going to build a walk-in closet off the master bedroom by using the space provided by shrinking one of the bathrooms. This project was not completed due to a communication issue and Rudy requesting more money to do the closet than originally negotiated.
