Our street lamp was not lighting. After checking the wiring they realized that the original power line was not buried in a conduit. (This took 3 - 4 hours, for which they were paid.) A supervisor was called to discuss options to get a new line to the lamp or perhaps a low voltage lamp or solar lamp. The supervisor was to get back to me within a week with my options and estimated cost. Never heard from them again - they got their $500 and were gone!
Description of Work: I called them to repair an exterior lamp post. The issue was more complicated than expected. They were to get back to me with some repair options and I never heard from them again.

I am confused. When this client was called by our office on 8/25/11, she stated that Adam was awesome and that she was very satisfied. At that time, she opted to not move forward on our recommendation to install a new line into the ground per code requirements. Adam also did other work in her home that day.

The repair of the ceiling had been done before by another handyman service but not very well. This repairman did a much better job though it did take over 3 hours! The molding repair went very well too. However both times the repairman was due to arrive, he was late. The last time he was almost an hour late and only called to let me know well after he was due. He did waive the service charge of $40 though. I am not sure I would use them again.

It went great. I bought the materials and described that I wanted them to cut and install crown and chair rail only, that I would do nail putty & paint, that we were on a strict time clock. A few of the cuts were difficult necessitating 2-3 more complex angled cuts. Very satisfied with work, value for the price and professionalism. Will definitely call them back for other jobs around the house I cannot do easily.
Description of Work: Cut and installed crown molding and a chair rail in a large bedroom over approximately 2 hours including inside and outside cuts.

I purchased the special deal they were offering for $280.00 to come and put a new door lever with combination lock on my front door so that I could allow some service people to access the house via a combination, and then change the combination when ever I wanted. I made the purchase online on Angie's List, paid for it at that time, and then Eric from Handyman Matters called me and we picked the exact type and color of combination door lock I wanted, and scheduled the day and time for the install. I met Ken from Handyman Matters at the appointed time, and he had all the equipment for the job with him, and 1-hour later it was installed. Ken showed me how to use it, and left the operating manual, etc. Both Ken and Eric from Handyman Matters were very professional and easy to work with the entire time, and they did the job quickly and effeciently. Thank you Handyman Matters! -John

Geoff was right on time, friendly and amazingly flexible as my Saturday unfolded. I took advantage of the 2 hour/$150 deal and Geoff went right to work on a loose faucet, an inoperative exhaust fan, and installation of ceiling fans. I had simultaneously scheduled delivery of kitchen appliances, and Geoff immediately offered to install the dishwasher and over-range microwave - this extended his total time but the additional hours were even less than the coupon deal, and it was well worth it. Geoff was able to handle quite the variety of projects in a short 4 hours - plumbing, electrical, installation, etc. I expect I'll have more for him as I continue to get the new house ready for occupancy. Thanks Geoff!

Overall, this was an excellent experience. My 30 ft high smoke alarm had been "chirping" since before Christmas. I went away and it was still going strong when I returned. I called Handyman Matters on January 2, which I believe may have been a holiday for them. I spoke with one of the owners twice that day, and Dustin arrived at 8:00 the next morning. The chirping and my headache went away immediately. Don't think twice about using this company.
Description of Work: Dustin came and replaced smoke detectors, two of which are 20 and 30 feet high; replaced some bulbs in high places; and he moved some heavy things around for me so I could install a new TV and new telephones. I would give this company an A+ rating. Although the phone estimate was higher than I thought it should be, they charge only for actual time, so my bill was considerably less than the estimate. The pricing is quite fair to the consumer. Dustin was fast, courteous, careful, and professional. I simply can't say enough good things about this company and will call them again when the need arises.

He found an inexpensive solution to the front door issue and it is still working. The back door could not be fixed but he showed me how to install new hardware and where to get it (online order). All in all it solved problems although It would have been nice if had not cost so much for him to play with both doors. He was learning as he went.... I felt I was paying for consultation

I can assure you the Craftsman was not learning as he went. The Craftsman was trying to give options to the solution of the problem. Many customers do not want to pay for our Craftsmen to go shopping, so customer said he would purchase the materials. That is why the Craftsman showed him how to install the new hardware.

Over all it went great. I am new in town and did not know who to call. I phoned at 9:00 AM and they said Geoff would be out between 10:00 and 10:30. Geoff arrived promptly at 10:00. He was very pleasant and polite. He worked fast and did a great job. He did not have the part for my lamp.so he told me he would run by the hardwae store between his jobs and try to find the part to fix my lamp. This lamp is very special to me and I had feared that it could not be repaired. I really appreciated Geoff's extra effort to fix my lamp.and to pick up the part while he was going between jobs and not to charge me for the time it took him to run to the hardware store. He was also able to pick up the part to fix my shower door. He came back later in the day with the parts and everything is done and I am very happy. He also gave me a rough estimate on a larger job that I am planning in the spring and and estimate for some other work that I plan to do. I will definately use Hamdyman Matters in the future. I was very pleased and impressed.
Description of Work: Geoff repaired the leak under my kitchen sink, rewired a floor lamp that was not working properly, checked my furnace to be sure everthing was working properly. He cleaned up the dust and debris in and around the furnace. He fixed my shower door so that the door would stay in the track. He put new pins in my from door so that I am now able to open it. without a fight. He worked so fast and effeciently that he was even ablet to volunteer to get on my roof and get the tree limbs off of it. I really appreciated that.

It went okay. Afterwards I found out that there was an access door to my wire shutoffs that had a little fresh paint over the bottom of it. They didn't score it so that it came open cleanly so that was the only problem there. The job turned out fine.

Handyman Matters has various pricing tiers, including discounts for seniors 65 and over. I didn't qualify as a senior, but was offered a discounted package for 4 hours of work, which worked out perfectly for my various projects; if you buy the package, any additional hours are billed also at a discounted rate. They are very good at estimating time -- it helps to keep a list of what you want done. I was given an arrival time, and Geoff arrived right at 9am. I showed him around the house, explaining the various projects, then signed an approval to proceed with the work. Geoff worked quickly and competently and cleaned up after each project was finished. He was professional, courteous, and friendly. I plan to use this contractor (and Geoff) again for the installation of ceramic tile.
Description of Work: Geoff installed a curved shower rod and grab bar in the guest bathroom, a grab bar in the master bathroom, hung a large heavy wall mirror in the bedroom, relocated a robe hook and toilet paper holder, hung new draperies, repositioned the latch on the basement door so it now works, painted the garage stairs, and gave me an estimate for laying ceramic floor tile in the laundry room (a future job).

We were very please with the entire process from start to finish! They even cleaned up after themselves!
Description of Work: Jared called ahead to make sure we would be home. He arrived just a few minutes early. He got right to work repairing the section of tile/cement board that another contractor working for Handyman Connection (Don't waste you time or money on them!) knocked out to perform a plumbing repair. He cleaned up the mess left by the other contractor, secured a metal backing plate to the exposed 2X4s, then cut the cement board, mixed the mortar, cut and aligned the tiles etc. When he had finished, the backsplash around the tub looked like new! The only thing that need a retouch was the mortar. It was supposed to have dried white, but it was more a greyish color. Eric at Handyman Matters scheduled a follow up with Dustin. Dustin brought the white grout, clean out the mortar between the tiles and replaced it with white grout. He also removed some moldy caulk from around the base of my shower and put down a new bead. That was unscheduled work! We had an appraisal done that afternoon and the appraiser couldn't tell that any work had been done! Both men completed the work about half the estimated time and at half the estimated cost! I will definitely call Handyman Matters South for our next upgrade/renovation!

Adam arrived at noon and worked until 5pm. He started with with the ceiling fans removing old and installing new. The crooked closet doors were in the rooms with the ceiling fans. He adjusted the closet doors and then moved to the main floor for repairs. He started in the kitchen. He did the kitchen sink faucet. After completing that, he started with a drywall patch in the bathroom. When the patch was in place, but wet, he started working on electric outlets. After the patch had time to cure / dry, he went back to hand the towel rack. He finished the day by replacing 3 electric outlets. Adam was polite and worked diligently through the list. I am happy with the quality of the work and will use Handyman Matters in the future.
Description of Work: Adam arrived and worked on a list of various projects I had for home repairs. My list included, replacing 2 ceiling fans with lights, replacing multiple electric outlets that were broken, replacing a kitchen sink faucet, rehanging crooked closet bifold doors and hanging a towel rack in the bathroom. He was a capable plumber, electrician and handyman. Adam arrived on time and continued from one project to the next. I was pleased with how many projects he completed on my long long list in 5 hours.
