Not that great of an experience, sorry to say. I don't know if his behavior with us was unusual or he just was having a bad week, but after the consult we didn't receive an estimate and he didn't take an measurements while at our home. (We live in a nice home that is clean and modern and we'd even bought the paint and started emptying the rooms to get ready for a painter.) His not being able to give us a ball park figure on two simple rooms with trim, and windows and a ceiling, was so bizarre. We didn't believe him that he needed to compute what it would cost. How can you NOT know what it costs to paint two rooms? Why didn't he take a single measurement? Why did he promise us an emailed estimate but then over 24 hours after his promise, still no call or email? His delay, and our trust that he'd get back to us feels disrespectful and put us behind schedule. We would have been fine if he called and said he couldn't do it, we just needed the info so we could either seek another Angies List painter or do it ourselves. If he had a family emergency or got in a car accident I feel really badly for writing this, but as things stand, there's no way we'd call him. Just seemed like he didn't need or want the work. That doesn't feel good for a customer...

They did an excellent. I was completely happy with their service and if I need additional painting I will call them again.

I have used A Brush With Success before and was very pleased. I had a remodeled bath which had been painted builder's white and wanted the bath the same color as the rest of my house, so I took advantage of the one room for $99 special. The trim, doors and ceilings did not need painting, so it was only the walls. I provided the paint and Rich did his usual excellent job. As I stated in another review for him, I don't think I will ever do my own painting again. Rich works quickly and does great work. I won't hesitate to use him again in the future, and have no reservations in recommending him and his company to anyone.

I contacted Rich for an estimate of an interior painting job. I had contacted other businesses, but Rich was the most prompt in providing an estimate and also had the best price. He began the work exactly when he said he would, he was friendly and even helpful with color suggestions when I was undecided. As a single female, I am somewhat sensitive to dealings with men in my home. However, Rich put me completely at ease and maintained a warm, professional manner from start to finish. His crew was a direct reflection of him - friendly, professional, and attentive to details. I actually asked him to return to finish rooms that I had not considered in our original agreement. He was more than willing to fit me in to his schedule and maintained the same qualities that I had appreciated during our initial meeting. I would absolutely recommend him for any job. It is a rare occurrence when a chance business meeting leaves one with such a strong and positive impression of another person - this was the case in my dealings with Rich.

On day one, Rich came out to pressure wash my house, which he did a thorough job. We discussed how I wanted my house to be painted as I was not going with the traditional, standard way of painting the exterior. I was deviating from the norm of the homes painted in the burbs of Denver. I didn't want the trim to be painted in a standard manner. In short, I was very particular on how I wanted my house painted. Rich, in no way tried to influence me on how to paint my house. I've worked with contractors in the past, where they try to influence you into doing something you don't want to, perhaps, to cut costs. I never felt that way with Rich. He was very receptive as to how I wanted my house painted. Day two, Rich and his crew of three came out to paint the exterior of the house. Once Rich got them started he left to take care of other duties but I had no problems with the guys that were left to do the job. They were very professional and did a terrific job of painting! In the end, they cleaned up the yard of any debris and left the house looking awesome! Initial estimate for the job was $2350 but there was an additional fee of $150 because I wanted to add a third color. Also, I ended up paying an additional $390 because I wanted the soffits repainted to match my trim color. If I had told Rich that is what I wanted from the beginning, I would've saved myself $390 but I changed my mind on the color of the soffits after they finished painting. That added 3-4 hours of labor plus the additional paint. Oh well, my fault!!! Overall, they did a superb job of painting!!! My house looks great and my neighbors are envious of my freshly painted house. Also, I've had lots of good comments about my deviation from the norm. I feel the price I paid was totally worth it!!! I will definitely use A Brush WIth Success in the future for other painting jobs!!!

I purchased the Big Deal on Angie's List for $99.00 to have A Brush With Success to paint one room. I called and spoke to Rich Lyons, the owner, and asked about doing an adjoining room for an additional fee. He was very nice and agreed to paint the additional portion for $99.00. Setting up the date for the painting was a bit of a challenge with the holiday season and our schedules not matching up. Once we got the date set, Rich and Juan came over, introductions were done, the instructions were given; Juan started taping and started painting right away. Talk about efficient!!! Juan taped only where it was absolutely necessary and he painted the ceiling area free hand! Talk about steady hands!!! Juan did the job solo and he completed the two rooms in about 4 hours! FYI, I did have the entire outlet and switch plates off and ready for him to paint the walls. I painted the outlet and switch plates myself. I?m sure I left them on, he would?ve painted them as well. I am super happy with the paint job!!! Definitely will be using them in the future!!!

Rich provided a prompt bid for the majority of my house & there were no surprises when the final invoice came. I found him to be an honest, genuine, tell it like it is kind of guy - a refreshing change from many contractors. His painters Josh & Travis were courteous, conscientious & diligent - with the most precise paint lines I've ever seen (we have rounded corners). They even gave me a few good pointers to help with future diy painting! I will definitely use them again!

Rich and his team have been great. His bid was very reasonable, the job was completed quickly and the quality is first rate! I will use A Brush With Success on another job later this month.

We had a couple of other quotes, but his was not only lower, he also had an opening the following day where everyone else was booked for weeks. They came in and finished in less than a day. Very professional and polite workers came in and did their thing. We will use them again.

I purchased a $99 deal from this company back in Feb, 2012, but given the size and color of my existing room I agreed to pay an additional $120 to the company to paint one room (this was agreed upon before I purchased the $99 deal, so I was fine with it). On March 21st I contacted the company to schedule the painting, and after several emails over several weeks I realized that Rich was too busy to schedule in my job. On April 19th I gave up and asked for a refund of the $99 deal. Rich seems like a very nice guy, but he was too busy to do the work.

I can't speak highly enough about the job. We spoke before the appointment and he instructed me what kind of paint to get and where to get it, and even how to get a discount on it. He arrived promptly and was done so quickly. I was amazed at the perfect lines at the ceiling (we have a popcorn-textured ceiling) and with the perfect coverage. With a $99 Angies List coupon and the discounted paint, it was definitely the best value for a painted room I could imagine.

It was great. They gave an accurate estimate, completed the work in a timely manner and were very professional and courteous.

From the estimate to the final check it was handled with professionalism and care.

It did not go well because the owner would not return phone calls or answer my email requests to see what the estimate for our interior paint job was.

Never received a return phone call or email. I can't provide do's and don'ts as the company never responded to my request. I dislike giving them a terrible grade but their customer service is sorely lacking in efficiency.

I purchased a "Big Deal" through AL for one room of interior painting. I normally do my own interior painting but have not had the time to get to the last room in my house, the guest room, and the stair landing area outside of it. I contacted Rich via email since it wasn't an urgent project and I got a response within a few hours. It took us a few weeks to nail down a date between our two busy schedules, but he was always very, very prompt in replying to my emails and potential availability. On the day of service Rich and his crew arrived exactly on time with all materials, ready to go. Rich walked me through what to expect, introduced his crew to me, made sure they had everything they needed, and told me he'd be back to check in on the work at the end of the day. I was responsible for removing all items from the walls. I'd let Rich know I had a guest moving out that morning so I wouldn't have time to totally muck out the room. They all helped move the small items out (lamps, alarm clock, etc) and took care of moving large furniture to the center of the room. The two young men, Josh and Travis, were amazingly professional. They were polite and courteous and very clean. I don't think they had a speck of paint anywhere on themselves by the end of the project. I have a preschool age child and they were very careful not to leave any wet tools anywhere tempting for him and were aware if he came upstairs to 'check' on them. I never feared for any paint mess anywhere in my home. When they had to wait a few minutes for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat the opened a window to aid in the drying and remembered to close the A/C vent and close the door to the room they were working in so the paint could dry but the rest of the house would stay cool. Thoughtful and considerate. The whole project took just a few hours and looks fantastic. No drips on trim, no splotches on the ceiling. I would certainly call on A Brush With Success Painting again and have already recommended them to some friends looking for an exterior paint job.

It was fabulous. When we moved into our new home earlier in 2012, we took advantage of one of Rich's coupons and had two rooms painted; he and his crew did a beautiful job. I enjoyed the quality and price of the work, along with Rich's great personality, that there was no question that he would be the one to do further painting for us. He and his 3-man crew arrived on time and spent most of the day completing the work. His crew was as professional and pleasant to have in our home as Rich has been. I look for opportunities to refer him to my friends and clients. I love having happy experiences with the contractors who help us.

Came in with a very good bid and the work was done right when I was told it would be. Home looks great and we couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommend.

I was given a short notice of arrival time on email. Thankfully I had checked my email prior to the painters' arrival. I was very worried that my carpets would be splattered by paint and was told not to worry. They would be fine. They were fine. When I had some concerns about an old crack, they re-plastered, sanded and painted the area. I'm very happy with the outcome. My old oak woodwork is still paint free and the old plaster wall look like new in this 100-year-old home. I think they did a terrific job.

I bought a "big deal" on April 22 and got an email on May 22 saying I was just a few down on the list. It's now June 25 and I still haven't heard from him. Sent a couple of emails to him. No response. I don't mind being patient but this is absolutely ridiculous. Now I have to make other arrangements. Thank you Rich Lyons, for nothing, which is exactly what you did. No responsiveness, no professionalism. DO NOT HAVE THIS GUY PAINT YOUR HOUSE.

Just had to leave a note that I called Rich to get a quote and he was very apologetic that he doesn't service the Boulder area since he's about 50 miles each way out. But really wanted to help with getting me in touch with someone who could help me and offerred some great ideas. I appreciated his professionalism and enthusiasm to help me anyway! Thanks Rich!!

Painted one of my doors at no extra chargeRich estimated some interior painting and again Rich and the crew arrived, and an excellent job on three rooms and a pantry and again threw in some extra trim and door painting. Cleanup also completed thoroughly.

His name is Rich Lyons. I had a coupon from Angie's List for $199 for 2 rooms, which was great. My kitchen seemed to be a little bigger so I had to pay above that, but I was fine with it. It was great. He was very detailed about telling me what he could do because the people before me had done it themselves and he couldn't fix what they had done. I had to touch up everywhere but that was not his fault. He was on time. I would use him again.
