I was quoted to have stump ground and removed. Workers actually were able to take it out with a pickax in only about 15 minutes. No concession was given for the lower costing service. I believe cost quoted was their minimum. This is not an issue.

Environmental tree care Last fall I hired Environmental Tree Care to do some major work around our yard including trimming an Ash tree in our front yard, removing an Elm from our side yard, an apple tree in our back yard and a grinding several stumps. In total we spent more than $6000 for all the work. There were several special instructions, including leaving all the mulch, cutting the Elm tree to table height, and leaving the wood from the apple tree. We had also just cut down two cherry trees, which were laying on our porch. We intended to use them for smoking meats but had not cut them up yet. They were laying on the porch when Environmental Tree Care arrived to start the day. By the end of the day all the fruit tree wood was gone, including the cherry trees they didn’t even cut and the Elm on my side yard was cut to the ground, regardless of the string I tied around it at the table height we had specified. The only good thing that was correctly done in my yard was the trimming of the Ash tree in my front yard. Or, so I thought. Today a massive, obviously weak branch fell from that Ash tree. Now that the branch is gone, I can see the ones that were above it and they also look very weak. So I call Environmental Tree Care, to ask them to come look at the tree they told us 9 months ago would not need trimming again for 7 years, and they said no. They said it was Mother Nature, even though the weather was only mildly windy when the branch fell. (No other trees in my area lost branches, including the nearly dead Elm in my neighbor's yard). They said it would have left a large hole in the canopy of the tree. However, at the time, no one from Environmental tree care asked my opinion on the choice between a hole in the canopy or possible falling branches. I can tell you what I would have chosen if they had. The only reason I did not write a negative review of Environmental Tree Care last fall was because it seemed the Ash tree had been trimmed well. We were happy with it, and all the rest may have been miscommunication. But now I can see that the Ash was not trimmed well. So every single aspect of my business with Environmental Tree Care was mishandled, from badly followed instructions to literally stolen fruit wood, to bad tree trimming. Think twice before hiring them.
