I called Dan and talked to him on the phone. He seemed very calm and comfortable. We agreed on dates and pay and he did as he said he would do. See above. No emergencies, no anxiety.

Dan did a great job watching my wife's and my house while we were out of town. He always answered our e-mails, texts, and phone calls in a timely manner, and Dan was constantly in touch about hour house and anything we might need to pay attention to. Overall, Dan did a great job and it was a pleasure to work with him. My wife and I certainly plan to use Security Sitters in the future.

We moved from downtown and were sad to leave our pet sitter that we've used for the past two years. I found Dan and Security Sitters on Angie's List and am sure glad I did! We have one cat who loves us, but does NOT like anyone else so I'm always nervous that people won't understand this aspect of the cat nature. Dan met with us a few weeks before we needed him and met my kitty (who was of course, nice to him then because I was there) and I showed him where everything was located. This was especially difficult as my house is under extreme renovation. He made sure to email or text me videos and/or pictures each day he came to see her which was awesome! (Yes, even the video of her making angry kitty noises and being a pill) I was pleased to know someone who cared about kitties-even the not so nice ones- was looking after her and I'm sure we'll use him again the next time we go out of town.

He is wonderful. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him.

Dan came over to meet our animals, he was very punctual and sweet. He immediately started familiarizing himself with our dog and cat. Dan is very friendly and enjoys his work. We have not utilized his services yet, but plan on it in the future.

He was excellent. He truly loves his work. He treated them as if they were his own.

We like that he will hang around with the cats as opposed to just feeding and leaving. They are much less stressed out when we get back since they feel less abandoned. He does a great job!

Dan met me on time to discuss my needs. He was very attentive and even suggested things he could do to make our home more "live in" while we were away. He is very personable and experienced. We did use his service and the house was in great shape when we returned. He even left a fan on for my convenience so the house would not be so hot. He did everything to a T! My flowers & veggies were thriving when I returned.

Felt peace of mind that the cat were going to be in good hands. That's worth a lot.

After I hired him, signed his contract and gave him a key, he skedaddled out of here. The next day, I got a request to make sure I left my remote for the TV where he could find it so he could "hang out with the dogs".That was a little weird, as I hadn't hired him to hang out but to feed and walk the dogs. But okay. Hopefully he would just watch regurlar TV channels, not PPV movies. The next request I got from Dan was that he be able to use my hot tub while I was gone. While my first thought was for liability concerns, my second was "does this guy think he's a family member or a house sitter?". I felt that this was extremely inappropriate, and told him I had found someone else (which I had).I needed to get my key back, and he demanded a 30% cancellation fee, which amounted to $105. Since I was firing him for what I considered cause, I probably had grounds not to pay his fee, but since I didn't have time to change the locks on the house I went ahead and paid him. He did not give me a copy of his contract. I should have made one. i have since changed my locks. His behavior might be just simply socially awkward and inappropriate. But I would never use this man. He may be an excellent caregiver. I did not give him the chance to hang out in my house and hot tub.

I have used Security Sitters 5 times and am always very very pleased with the services provided. They are awesome at keeping in contact , letting me know how things are going which I greatly appreciate as I tend to worry about my animals. Everytime they have taken care of my animals (and house) I return to find calm happy babies. The only complaint I might have is that my wee furry ones don't seem to have missed me as much as I've missed them. In my opinion that speaks volumes to the great care and love my pet receive when I am not here. I cannot recommend them enough.

This is the third time I've used Dan's services and to date have had very few problems. He often texts pictures of the cats and the yard letting us know what's going on while we're gone. On our last trip, we had unexpected company the day before we left and that person stayed at our home for a couple of days after we left. I really appreciated that Dan was willing to come in later in the week (a decrease in his pay) and flexible enough to work with us on arrival times. Having worked with other pet sitters in the past, I've had real problems when we didn't leave or return on schedule. When I didn't text him that we were home, he texted me with a reminder to be sure the kitties were alright and we were home safe. Hint: Do be clear about your dates and a courtesy call to a pet service about departures and arrivals is, in my opinion, a very fair accommodation for excellent service. Bottom line, he's trustworthy and loves the cats.

Dan cared for my 3 dogs, 1 cat and 1 bird as well as my house. I cannot express how pleased I was when I got home!! My animals were calm and happy and well cared for. My house was perfect, the mail had been brought in and the garden was watered, so much more than I had asked for. He even made FRESH pico de gallo. All of my animals adored Dan from the moment he walked in the door. It is a great feeling knowing I can leave town and all my animals are well cared for and my house is looked after. I feel like I get much more in return than just someone feeding my animals, he really connects with them.

After all the great reviews, I was so disappointed in this situation. I did hire him to perform this service, even though it never occurred, so I'm including this as having had work done category. I had Dan out the Tuesday prior to the weekend we needed him, and he was very nice & good with the kitty. We filled out a contract, discussed key arrangements for my complex, and went over the needed dates. I got back from a 2 day trip and our kitten had not been cared for. When I called Dan, he called right back. However, he said I had not put the dates on my contract (though he didn't point this out at the time we met, and I didn't know we needed to specify there), hadn't given him a key (which my leasing office handles and we had discussed), and I hadn't called the day before to remind him (which I don't recall agreeing to do, but perhaps he did ask). I then pointed out we had been looking at a calendar & writing things down, so I had thought he knew the dates, and asked if he had the October dates we had also reserved - he did have those, so clearly I did understand correctly that we had been making an appointment when he had been writing things down. To me, if I've signed a contract, you've been hired, and if there are any missing parts (i.e. you would like the dates in writing, or you're not sure of the key plan), I feel it's up to the professional to let me know. I'm just lucky this was a weekend trip and not the 10 day vacation we had booked for October. Honestly, he seems very nice, but I just prefer a pet sitter I am not supposed to remind prior to every trip.

I have three instances to report. We first met Security Sitters in May 2010. When we inquired about the service, Dan and Linda both came to our house in advance to talk with us and meet Cody, which was very reassuring. My husband and I were very impressed by how careful, thorough and professional both of them were. Cody adored Linda and everything went smoothly. While we were gone, Linda followed our instructions to the letter (I admit, we're pretty fussy dog "parents"), stayed with Cody overnight and walked him morning and evening. Having Linda stay with our dog was much less stressful for him than boarding and it was such a relief knowing that we could absolutely trust her, particularly since we were up in the mountains with no cell service or landlines and no easy way for Linda to contact us. In September 2010, when Cody was recovering from major surgery, we had Dan stay with him once again when both my husband and I were called away. Dan was great as usual--prompt, cordial, reliable, and everything went perfectly. Our third experience with Security Sitters was when we were planning a family vacation in August 2011. Although we'd booked Security Sitters once again, the trip fell through at the last moment due to Hurricane Irene. Both Linda and Dan were just wonderful and completely understanding. We've put our total trust in Security Sitters. I just can't imagine life without them--these guys are pure gold!

Dan was a professional from the moment we spoke on the phone through the completion of his services. Prior to our leaving for vacation, he came to our house and met me and the cat and made sure that he knew precisely what I wanted done and how often, and that he knew where everything he would need was located. When we left for our trip, he arrived every other day as promised and spent time with the cat, cleaned his litter, made sure he had enough food, and checked around the house and yard for us to make sure nothing was amiss. He even communicated with me by text message while I was on vacation to let me know that everything was alright. This provided me with great peace of mind, particularly given the length of my absence and the fact that it was the first time I had worked with Security Sitters. Upon our return, we found our cat well-fed, healthy, and happy to see us as always and everything in the house was exactly as we had left it. This was a great experience and I will definitely hire Security Sitters again.

Dan worked with us through some scheduling mishaps and when we got home, the cats were happy and well adjusted. Usually, we have friends do the job and the cats are traumatized and upset with us when we get home, so Dan's service was a vast improvement. I would not hesitate to hire him again. I am grateful for the freedom I now feel to travel without worrying about my pets.

Recently my primary pet sitter has had some conflicts, so I've decided to try some alternate pet sitters. I read the great reviews Dan has gotten on Angie's List and was interested in having him sit for my pets when I planned to be out of town for a couple of days. When using someone new, I start off with a shorter trip before hiring them for a longer one. Dan and I chatted for a couple of minutes. We confirmed he would be available for the days I needed, and I asked about the cost: $35/day (one visit per day) and $0.35 per mile. This is well over twice what the other pet sitters I have used charge, and outside my budget. Bummer, because it sounds like he provides a great service.

What a find! I chose Dan and Security Sitters from Angie's and then low and behold they were one of the 2 referral companies that my apartment complex lists for pet sitting in my area of Lone Tree! I love Dan, I have now used him two times in the last month. He is a terrific and caring man that loves animals! What more can you ask for in a pet sitter! He is professional and you know your pets are not only safe but have some companionship while he is visiting and taking care of them! I highly recommend Dan and Security Sitters for all of your pet needs! Thanks Dan!

I returned home to find both cats healthy and happy and my home as I left it. He took the initiative to water our food garden out back - an unexpected but much appreciated action. I hope to secure his services for an upcoming trip.

It went wonderfully well. Dan is a lovely man and you can see that he really loves animals. I was a bit nervous leaving my cats for the first time since I've moved to Denver and Dan understood completely. He texted me twice a day when he was at my house, and he even sent me pictures of my babies. I have no real children, just fur children and I know there are other people that feel that way too. We already have our next trip vacation planned and I wouldn't use anyone else! I feel very fortunate to have found Dan!!

My husband and I do quite a bit of traveling for work, sometimes for extended periods. We have Dan stop by on a weekly basis to check on the house and keep things looking lived in. He brings in any mail as well as goes through the house to make sure everything is secure from week to week, i.e., the furnace is working properly, water heater isn't leaking, flyers aren't piling up on the door, etc. Dan comes at different days and times so everything looks random. Most of all he provides us with peace of mind that if anything needs to be handled, Dan will take care of it or get in touch with us and see how we want it dealt with. We are confident that if anything happens while we're gone, Dan will catch it right away and we won't come home to a disaster. Our pets travel with us, but when we're back home and need a pet sitter, we won't hesitate to use Dan to look after our little furry ones, and recommend him and his service without reservation.

called dan in june to check his availability. he came over and met me and the dogs and turtle and get instructions. about a week before the overnight, he came back again. he arrived on the scheduled day and let me know everything was fine. i got a text or call with brief updates that everything was fine. when i came home everything in the house was fine and the dogs and turtle were fine. i have used a lot of pet sitters over 15+ years and dan was excellent.

Dan called me back prompltly. We discussed what I needed. He came for an initial visit to meet my dogs. It was clear from the visit that he knows dogs very well and was more than able to handle tasks. He came every day. Left time logs with descriptions of his visit. Sent me email pics of my dogs out in the yard. He even took my older dog for a walk which was not what I had asked for, but greatly appreciated. Excellent service. I would use him again and again.
