Dan did a great job with my kitten Oliver. I had to be gone for a week and Dan was wonderful coming to the home, playing with iver, and the best part providing pictures of Oliver while I was gone. I will use Dan in the future! Dan was responsive to all my texts and was easy to work with from the time I left until I returned.

Note: After you read this review, make sure to read ALL of the low score reviews. I read many exemplary reviews and failed to pay attention to the negative/cautionary reviews that are far and few between but really do deserve attention. This is not the first pet sitter service we have hired and we have received exceptionally good care from other providers in the past. That said, I have strong concerns and cautions to others about our experience. and middot; Note: We have special needs miniature dachshunds who are paper-trained and this was made clear to the sitters. We made sure there was a bed for each night that we would be away so that if there was an incontinence issue every single day, the dogs would have a clean bed and the sitters would not need to worry about any laundering needs. When we arrived home, we found : and middot; papers in the potty area that had been thoroughly drenched in urine but were completely dry and smelly. The last sitter visit was at 5pm according to Dan and we arrived 7 hours later. and middot; We also found the dogs in the intial bed we left them in (none of the other beds had been used) and it had multiple dry urine stains and put off a really bad odor. Additionally, the dogs fur put off this odor when you picked them up. and middot; We also followed up with our neighbors about the concerns and they thought we had taken our dogs out of town with us as they did not hear the dogs all week. They never saw the dogs go out for a walk, and did not observe vehicles they did not know parked at our house. and middot; The dog that we had left on muscle relaxers and had left cautions about no rough play and she needed to rest because she had a hurt neck, barely scooted across the floor to us while whining. She walked in a C shape, could not lift her head or her tail, and was clearly in A LOT of discomfort. We had left pain medication should she need it. Upon our return we were provided no mention of the dog being in pain or of medication distribution. We had several communications with Dan throughout the trip and we left our Vet information and Emergency Vet information should they be needed. (while we recognize that this was only Danand acirc;??s third encounter with her, you do not need to know a dog well to know that it is in pain. Happy dogs wag their tails, a week after our return she is just beginning to be able to wag her tail) o Additionally, this dog is usually very independent. She would not leave our side for days. She was not the relaxed, spoiled dog we expected to find on our return. During the trip, we were shocked to get this email: and acirc;??These girls are having a great time. They are in Perry's lawn. They're the best. We hired Dan to watch the dogs at our house. No mention was made of transporting them else where, the only transport expected would have been an emergency trip to the vet. So, what happened to resting quietly? As a result, we had to make a weekend call to the vet and get the dog in immediately on Monday. It took two full weeks for her to recover. If you need to read any more, here are the notes from the initial meetings. First Visit: Meet and greet with Dan: and middot; Dan did not show up for the first appointment, we had to call him, he returned the call later and said he had scheduled it for the following night. He did show up the next night. and middot; We discussed one dogand acirc;??s condition and uncontrollable incontinence problem that a vet was currently investigating. We also discussed how she was a puppy mill rescue and very sensitive or skittish and middot; We discussed special diets and that we would leave all the details and middot; We demonstrated how the dogs should be lifted and that they were trained not to jump up and down off of the furniture because of their fragile backs and middot; We filled out a contract and never got a copy (other sitters have provided signed copies by email) and middot; We gave him keys to the house and middot; Dan said he was available for the dates we would be gone, a total of 7 days and middot; Dan asked about the dogs sleeping with us and we said no they slept in their own beds and middot; Dan took no notes as we went over all of these details and middot; We made sure Dan knew that we did not have a television so he would need his own entertainment. He said and acirc;??no problem, I can stream movies on my iPad.and acirc;?? Second visit: We sent an email to Dan and asked about another meeting to review all of the details of the house and specifics of feeding the dogs the day before we left town. We also sent all of the care instructions and emergency vet information attached to the email so we could address any of his questions or concerns. and middot; Dan set an appointment with us and said he would be bringing Perry who works with him. I had completed what I thought was a good investigation of Danand acirc;??s work. I made sure he had a good rating with Angieand acirc;??s List and the BBB. The website says he is insured, licensed, and bonded and lists only Dan and Linda as the caregivers so I was surprised to hear about Perry. and middot; Perry had not been present to learn about our dogs during the initial visit. and middot; Perry and Dan came to the second visit and asked for a second set of keys. Perry proceeded to tell us that if we had big dogs we would not have them paper-trained. Dan knew this was the situation from the initial meeting. and middot; Dan again asked about the dogs sleeping with us and we said no they slept in their own beds and middot; We left a stack of beds on the dining room table, one for each night that we would be away so that if there was an incontinence issue every single day we were gone, the dogs would have a clean bed. and middot; We let Dan and Perry know that the second dog had hurt her neck since the first meeting with Dan, was on muscle relaxers, and should not play rough while we were away but instead should rest just like the other dog with health issues and middot; We left all medications pre-portioned in baggies so that all the sitters had to do was put it on top of the food morning and night Additional notes: While we did get four text or email updates, they were very general and there was not a daily log or any other information about the dogs while we were away (From previous sitters, we have received daily logs with feeding information, acitivity- walks or playing in the yard, grooming, treats, etc. and have paid far less for this kind of attention to care. I always thought this was a little over board until we found that this time we had no specifics to share with our vet. From now on I will insist on a daily log as part of the care.)

My dogs love Dan.  He spends a good deal of time with them when he comes by and ensures that they get lots of play time and attention. When I am out of town he provides me with frequent updates and pictures of my guys via text message so that I know things are going well.  He is very responsive to my often short notice need for assistance.  My dogs are somewhat high maintenance and Dan meets all of their needs, they are always happy and healthy when I get home and this was not always the case with other pet sitters I have used in the past.  I would highly recommend Dan.

Dan has been caring for my cats since we came to Denver 2 yrs ago. He's great. Always available, he spends time with my boys, sends me reports almost daily. He's professional, reliable and an animal lover. Not only are the boys in great spirits when he cares for them my plants are always in great shape, a side benefit from one of his hobbies. Use Dan and your animals will be well cared for.

When you come home and the pets look at you with " oh hi, were you gone?" then you know they were well taken care of .

It went GREAT!  We love Dan and recommend him to anyone who truly loves their dogs!!  He is the best dog nanny ever!

Dan is awesome!! I actually feel like I can go out of town now and my dogs are safe and sound. I love his service and would highly recommend!

Dan took great care of my old dog and old cat over a three-day weekend. We were worried about leaving them, but Dan kept in touch with us via texts and photos and kept our minds at ease. It was much better for the pets than having to kennel them, especially with my dog suffering from arthritis and needing daily medication.

Everything went perfect. I could not ask for better care, flexibility (as we were delayed getting home), or professionalism.

Perry spent time doing some training as a form of play with both the dogs and both dogs seemed happy and well cared for when we got home. The price we paid was well worth it for happy, well cared for dogs. They took the worry about being gone, while I am sure the dogs missed us, they were very happy and well cared for while we were gone. Perry sent me updates and pictures a number of times while we were gone. My sister, our son, and our niece also gave as great feedback about how well the dogs were taken care of. Perry would have been happy to take in the paper and/or mail or other tasks if we needed, but we did not need it this time.

Dan and Perry were great when they looked after our two older and special needs dogs. Our oldest dog who has degenerative myelopathy and lots of help getting around since his hind legs don't work. My younger dog has terminal cancer. They both have special diets that are extra work. I used Security Sitters when we went on our three week vacation and for a long weekend. Security Sitters have been nothing but professional with us and have taken excellent care of my dogs. They followed my lengthy instructions about care and feeding and asked questions if they did not understand something. In fact, my normal dog walker (who doesn't do overnights stays but was still coming during the day) took the time to emailed us that Ajax and Apollo were being well cared for by Dan and Perry and that we had nothing to worry about. She also stated that Dan and Perry were doing a wonderful job keeping the house clean considering how muddy the backyard had been. Perry was also kind of enough to email us periodic pictures of our dogs. I will continue to use Security Sitters as long as I have the dogs.

This was my first experience with a sitter for my cats since we moved to Colorado.We live in a very secure building and getting him the keys was a problem I was really worried about. He made a special trip the day before I needed him and picked up the keys at a specific location. He sent me a text that he had the keys and all was well. That made a huge difference in my comfort level because if it had not gone right, no one would be feeding my babies!He sent me a text everyday and sent several pictures too!When I got back the kittyies were great, the litter taken away and the keys returned to their starting place. All my cushions were still on the furniture, my plants were alive and my condo was in great shape.I have already made another reservation to have Dan watch my companions during my next trip.I am happy to recommend Dan to anyone reading this and all my friends.

I travel constantly for business and was in need of someone to care for my garden, koi pond, and cat.
Dan did an outstanding job with the garden, but what I really want to mention is is care of my 21 year old cat.
As this cat gradually faded, Dan always had an extra bit of kindness for him.  He monitored his rather capricious eating habits and even provided new and tempting food for him when his eating slowed down.
Dan always kept in touch with me about him and his changing conditions.
The cat did die (peacefully, in his sleep) and the frost did come, I changed my work, and I no longer needed Dan's services.  However I keep his number close by just in case I need a sitter.  I know that I can always trust Dan to take care of my place maybe even better than I can myself.

I came across Security Sitters through Angie's list and was impressed by how many high reviews they had.  I contacted Dan, the owner, to schedule a home visit.  Dan was very punctual for the home visit, friendly and I could tell he has a genuine love for animals, cats especially.  I was out of town for a week for the Thanksgiving holiday and booked Security Sitters to look after my two cats.  Upon request, Dan sent a text each day with detailed info about how his visits were going.  Getting these updates while I was away gave me good peace of mind.  Upon my return, I came home to a clean, well lit home with happy kitties!  I recommend Security Sitters to anyone who is looking for a dependable and well-run pet sitting service!

I was very pleased with the service Dan gave me. Everything was done to my specifications and he even vaccumed the whole house before I came home. ..my cats are shedders! He left me a note the last morning he was here to please call him when I got home and check in, which I did. He also told me where he left my house key. Dan came out twice, at my request,  before I left on vacation. I wanted him to be sure he was aware of "all" that I needed done while I was away. He was on time both days and did not charge me for either of those visits. I hope Dan will be available to me the next time I need to be away from home.

Dan is very professional and thorough. I have always traded per sitting with my neighbors. New to Denver and not really settled Dan provided the perfect alternative. My kitties were in great shape as were my plants. Dan's regular reports via text were very comforting to receive. He's already scheduled for out next trip.

Dan clearly knows and loves animals! He also knows gardening. He dealt expertly with the cat-box issues of my 17-year-old cat, which required moving the box to a new location where she would actually use it. He left me a log of his  daily visit times, describing the condition of both the cat and the garden. I respect his judgment and professional expertise and will continue to trust my cat and home to him with gratitude when I need to be away.

I have had pets all my life and used pet sitters, walkers, kennels etc. So, I chose Dan based on his reviews. And I wasn't disappointed at all. Dan did a great job and I would highly recommend him to anyone. He responded to my call quickly and really went above and beyond to meet me on a Saturday at my home. Not only is he so pleasant to work with, he really knows what he's doing. Even my 3 dogs loved him. And the cat was completely relaxed and happy when we returned. That's always a clue telling me Dan gave her a lot of TLC! Thank you Dan for being there for us! We look forward to working with you again in the future!

This worked really well for me.  It was enormously comforting (I'd used Dan in the past) to know that my animals were well and affectionately cared for ( 2 of my pets are elderly) and that my house was not just sitting empty.  Dan kept me up to date by phone and by visits to my rehab center, so I never had to worry and wonder what was going on at home.  Although Security Sitters is not cheap, it was well worth the cost to have someone totally honest, reliable, and experienced staying in my home.  I highly recommend this service to anyone who wants top quality pet and house care.    Be sure to call Dan well ahead of time as he is very busy.

Dan was in a word - fabulous! He is a delight! Our four legged heir apparent and our home were cared for in an excellent manner.  Dan sent text messages and photos of and about their adventures throughout our holiday.  A bonus was coming home to a rock garden with blooming flowers.  We will definitely have Dan in our lives again as the need arises.

Great tried to text us to keep us informed about the cats. We did not always have WiFi service left a great daily report.

I called Dan and talked to him on the phone. He seemed very calm and comfortable. We agreed on dates and pay and he did as he said he would do. See above. No emergencies, no anxiety.

Dan did a great job watching my wife's and my house while we were out of town. He always answered our e-mails, texts, and phone calls in a timely manner, and Dan was constantly in touch about hour house and anything we might need to pay attention to. Overall, Dan did a great job and it was a pleasure to work with him. My wife and I certainly plan to use Security Sitters in the future.
