I can’t express enough to all the review readers… DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! You won’t go with these guys if you do!!! I hired Designs by Sundown off of a friend’s recommendation. I was moving across the country & starting a new job. I needed someone to take care of this $500k project! Lucky I learned quickly & I am only out what I paid for an embarrassing fence, I don’t even want to know how much I over paid for this! I have random nails everywhere that aren’t even hammered in straight, 2x4s shoved in gaps & I’ve already pulled a huge splinter out of my dogs jowl that went through & through. Pictures below are what the fence installer & project manager felt were good fixes! Just to start… I got a bid for turf from them for nearly $140k…. I was told the only other option is like what they sell at HomeDepot! After contacting 7 turf installers (all 4.5star rating & above, none of them HomeDepot), DBS was $40k more than the highest bid I got! The fence they installed, the only option I was given by the designer, is a split wood fence. All the fencing on my property & my entire development is the rounded wood fencing. This was never given even as an option. He did show me a small picture & not being from around here I assumed, split wood meant the three poles between posts…not a sliver nightmare. He also knew this area was being turfed for a dog & kid area. Bad on me for being aloof & assuming the designer was doing right by me!!! Even the fence installer said this is not what they’d put up for this type of area! Lucky for me, I’m only down the money of the fence. I got out. Working on pool/ spa bids. They are all coming in $75-80k less than I was quoted for DBS, all from 5 star pool companies. Do your research! Make a few phone calls! I’m giving 1star because there isn’t zero. I felt I needed to warn people as this company has really ruined what was going to be a great project for my forever home!!!!

They don't do what they say. They planted used materials. No quality control.

Started off well with cogent design, but no 3D modeling as intended. I had to repeatedly correct the architect on dimensions on the space. They changed aspects of the design without first telling me resulting in a significantly different look to the space. Subcontractors always left a mess and unsafe. Even when completed I was picking up trash for several days. Finished 3 weeks late and had to withhold final payment for a several weeks until few details of punch list completed. I called in a warranty issue about a year later. Very helpful and responsive then. I even got a call from owner Mike Hommel. He promised he would come out to the property after his vacation. I had about three times amount of landscaping that still needed to be done. That was 2011. He's never called or showed up. If the follow through is poor at every level, I can deal with someone else.

Designs by Sundown did an excellent job on my landscaping. From the first meeting, through the design process, into the transformation, and even through today where they provide my maintenance, my expectation have been constantly exceeded. For a project like mine, I would have never expected to be 100% satisfied, but I am. The team doing the work was polite, respectful of my family, neighbors, and property. I'd give them an A+ if I could.

Their pricing was reasonable.  They did a very good job.  They used high quality materials and did a real good design.

I can not speak highly enough for Designs by Sundown.  I am a recent widow struggling to take care of 4 acres of land and two sprinkling systems (regular and Netafim).  I had a hard time finding someone to service the Netafim system.  Not only was Mike Hummel, the owner, very cordial to me; Brad, who did the work, was extremely courteous and patient.  Brad did a great job.  They came out within two days of my initial call.  My husband was part owner of the largest retail nursery in Denver, and I know that Designs by Sundown has an excellent reputation.  I would recommend them to anyone and I will use them in the spring for sure.

DBS installed a large new landscaping project for us and subsequently we hired them to maintain our property. Stephanie Green is our account manager and has a very hands on approach to managing our property over several years. We use DBS for pond maintenance, snow removal, winter watering, fall and spring clean up, summer mowing, xmas lighting and for planting flowers and bulbs in the season. Stephanie has been an amazing partner in the maintenance of our 2 acre property and we would highly recommend DBS for these services.

They do all of our landscaping and management...the prune, mow, design and construction.  They are well ran and very accountable.  They communicate very strongly and very professional.

The Angie's list rated them pretty low but I decided to give them a chance. The website was appealing, seemed as big professional company. They asked to pay half of the price in advance. I paid. Price was appealing and the designer talk pretty confidently. Wasn't very responsive though. Tried to communicate many times. But I could live with that. Spring, busy time for landscaper... Deal breaker was the fact that I told several time some important aspects of what I want or do not want in the plan during our meetings but the designer did not remember anything we've discussed. Did not remember or did not care. It seems that the designer just tossed something together in the last half hour before the meeting and it was just total opposite of what I've asked. Awful! Decided not to proceed during the conceptual phase. Two positive things only: they return my money back; I also get a lesson - you get what you pay for. What seems to be a good price stands for a very low service.

They came out and gave an estimate to do the work that was extremely over price. I would tell everyone to avoid them because his prices kept going up.

This company has not always been able to successfully adjust the sprinkler system correctly on the first try, but they will always come back as many times as they need to.
